Champions League Last 16 games - Feb/Mar 2015

Chelsea back to their usual boring, bus-parking self. So much for attractive football and Chelsea. Even got outplayed by a half-fit PSG.

And what about the all conquering attractive Bayern Munich. Nothing much will be said on here about their boring shitfest of a 0-0 where they barely created anything, and Pep will still be god! We played beter than Munich against a better side and got a better result so go and moan about Bayern!

Chelsea aren't as good as they were back in Mourinho's first spell. They weren't ever really in control or comfortable in that game and were quite fortunate not to lose. They'll have to play a lot better than that to win it, PSG are no great shakes.

More efficient in front of goal and pens but less technical and skillful on the ball

This. Lacazette was good last season, but he's been phenomenal this season and the French League is tougher these days (imo) than it was when Benzema plied his trade there.

He's averaging almost a goal a game.

It's an away tie in the champions league against a top team, what do you want them to do? Result is all that counts, Fergie learned to do that and we did that constantly in his latter years when we actually became good in the champions league. You can't just look to play great football in every game. Nothing wrong with their style.

Where the feck are Liverpool? Oh that's right, watching us on the television.

Really? I was looking forward to our tie against Dortmund too.

What's next on the primary school list of insults?

Missed opportunity for PSG. Will be surprised if Mourinho can't grind it out at Stamford Bridge.

Ooo Barney trying to be controversial again. Bore off.

He is right though, I never get involved in GK debates because they fluctuate and are stupid.

Courtious made one mistake in the City game whilst DDG has a few blinders.. hes not that great DDG is miles ahead... DDG makes a mistake then the next day Courtious has a worldie, then its the opposite.

In short, I hate keeper debates!

PSG probably should have scored a second and won the game. Not Chelsea's best game, they showed physicality and defensive organisation which made them difficult to beat but felt they dropped into their shell and were almost punished for it and they could be done by some of Europe's stronger teams. Still, it's a good result for Mourinho and he should be confident about getting through to the next round. Will be interesting to see how he sets up his team in the second leg. Does he go out and attack to get the winner or does he suffocate PSG and hit them on the break??

Chelsea got what they wanted even though it was not their best performance. I actually thought it was a good match. A tight cagey affair with two strong sides. More interesting than the demolition Real will probably give Schalke tomorrow.

Agree. Tight game between two quality sides with some creative moments. PSG should have nicked it, but Chelsea strong favourites now.

Good lad Keano doing it right. "Making the saves you expect to make".....consistently, which is the great part, doing the basics consistently.

It'd be insane if ITV had any sight of DDG this year, prob lose it.

90 minutes of David Luiz pretending to be a midfielder. And Chelsea cancelling it with Ramires. And yet some United fans think the likes of Herrera aren't good enough to be starters for United. Feck my life.

PSG were unlucky and created a number of good chances, thankfully for Chelsea Courtois was in excellent form. I don't know why Mourinho is so negative with the type of players he has at his disposal.

Verratti reminds me of Wilshire, clearly talented but has little man syndrome where he keeps making needless dangerous fouls to prove he's hard enough to play in midfield. On the other hand Matuidi is one of the most underrated CM's in Europe along with Marchisio IMO.

They do they exact same thing with De Gea.

De Gea is only belatedly receiving praise. He has been brilliant since around Aug 2012. It took the British media a long time to praise him.

Chelsea played against a side which had trouble to get 11 players fit for the game, lucky to score a goal, and lucky not to concede more.

???? david luiz, among others were allowed to foul constantly...

Hazard got a foul any time he went down, Cesc should have been sent off, Matić booked, clear PSG penalty....

Chelsea got away with murder. It's about time someone clamped down on their systematic fouling.

It wasn't a lucky goal it was brilliant play, what are you on about?

I think most people would accept that from a Mourinho side if it was an exception. The man had 5 pts lead over City playing at home in February and abandoned any ambition to win the game for pretty much the entire second half. I know he is a serial winner and I admire for it, I also like how he winds up everyone but goodness me, you'd have to have very low standards as a fan to accept his super cautious approach on a regular basis.

(If) that was brilliant play, that was the only piece of brilliance Chelsea did in the whole game. Rest of the time were busy parking the bus - nothing unusual for Chelsea though. When did they not park the bus in CL?

you're saying Hazard was diving tonight then? Cesc sent off, for what? clear penalty where?

the ref was even for both teams.

Why are people still on about the City game. It has clearly proven to be the right decision, as we could have easily had the lead cut to 2 points and City with momentum, Instead they dropped points in the next game and the lead was 7 points. Some people have such a simplistic view on football, I blame Playstation.

And Ukrainian forces are trying to hold off Putin and Russia. Bayern drew with the same team who have been displaced from their City.

People are just a tad romantic about their football and like to believe that top teams will always go for victory, in particular at home in a decisive game.

Well Hazard doesn't technically dive, he just exaggerates contact and gets too many soft free kicks every game. Cesc sent off for repeated fouling or for asking for Verratti to get carded when he was already booked, take your pick.

You actually missed the stonewall penalty? Ramires tripped up Pastore (?) In the box.
