Champions League Gameweek 4

What is it with Barca and some of their transfers? Gomes, Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan (despite some good games) are not playing on their best level.

Two weeks ago I said amid of all the hysterical mirth on here about how bad City was that they were actually better than Barca for a half and a bit until the sending off. I told you they would be good.
Games are so often reduced to their result retrospectively, not the whole run of play.

Just like City's great display after their first goal today will overshadow how much Barca dominated them before Sergio Roberto's mistake.

I look forward to anyone claiming City are a better side than Barca. Whoever does by the way, you're an idiot.

Wow, amidst everyone laughing at City y, competing against eachother to see who could hyperbole their loss more, I knew they were the better team for 60 mins until a dumb keeper ruined it for them... they were getting the same chances but simply didn't take them and then stupidity struck. Said they would win, they win. City outfootballing Barcelona. When have we been able to say this. Not even when we knocked them out of the CL were we doing it like this...

And literally only you pointed out that the red card changed the match I'm sure /s

I expect a Pep festival here though.
Its hard to say he doesnt desrrve it really. United and City were just about level last season squad wise and also exactly the same in the league. Not saying Mourinho will fail, I am still glad we got him and have full faith. But Pep has well and truly answered all doubts about him these first few months at City. It could all go tits up, but I doubt it. He has them running out deserved winners against Barca here which is a huge achievement even taking into account Barcas injuries. Plus the football they are playing, routinely hammering teams in the league but also looking solid at the back. A lot of football is confidence and he has them being really confident in their own ability which lets them play this dominant style. The same can be said with Klopp at Liverpool, just not to the same extent.

Its hard to admit, but how Pep has transformed City in a few months is pretty ridiculous.

Barca has a great first 11 but as soon as one starter gets injured, there is a huge gulf in quality in terms of replacement. You can see this for every single player concerned.

I have to say, I love myself. This foresight. EVERYONE was laughing them off. I am shining with pride.

Agüero, Kolarov and Silva would stand a chance too.
Aguero doesn't get in over either of the front three. Kolarov over Alba?

Silva is hilarious overrated, wouldn't have him over Iniesta or Rakitic.

Seeing the end of an era. Barcelona are now just another beatable football team.

Weird seeing the drop in quality but it was inevitable. Time waits for no one.

Probably, forgetting that this City team that's looking so good with Agüero (who's destroying Barcelona) in the pitch is the "same" that played in Barcelona without Agüero because Guardiola wanted it and lost 4-0
Right, defensive mainstay Aguero would have prevented at least 3 goals by his sheer presence.

Imagine Hazard & De Bruyne in the same team, Mourinho really fecked up:smirk:

De Bruyne is world-class. He ran the show everytime I've watched City. City are very lucky to have him in the squad... What was Jose thinking when he let him go at Chelsea?

I like how our transfer strategy is so shambolic that when other clubs purchase players for huge sums of money who excel in their systems, it's attributed to luck.

Anybody know if Kevin said City were better than Barcelona until the red card? I'm still not sure if he did..
You are so delighted, even threw a little joke in you naughty nimrod. Your team won, be happy!

Pretty depressing tbh. What's even more depressing is the Pepalooza festival that will take place here for the next couple of days. I'll stay away.

Are we going to get another is this the end of Barcelona type thread on the cafe tonight?

Messi, Neymar and Suarez ain't so hot when you have an amazing coach neutralizing them...

City's backup are great either. I agree that later in the competition if Barca have injuries they could get caught out.

If Aguero could play CM then maybe. I struggle to see him displace MSN. I also don't believe Silva is a better centre midfielder than Rakitic or Busquets. He has yet to convince me over an extended time in that position. He hasn't even been great this season. So really that leaves Kolarov who himself is nothing special

All true. But they aren't hammering teams in the league routinely and as you said it can go all tits up. Maybe not tits up but they could have a crisis you know.
He made a great job that's true but it's just strange to see so much salivating over him on an United forum, that's all.

This makes me miss being in the CL, and playing good football against big teams. At times we seem so far behind

Guardiola has broken the Barcelona algorithm! City taking the piss now.

They have already been beaten by trash in La Liga this season and conceding. They are not the team they used to be, aside from their attack there is a serious reduction in quality in all positions through aging players and mediocre transfers. They are not 'the best team in the world' by any measure no matter how many time OH keeps saying it.

Weren't people saying this between their CL wins in 2011 and 2015?
