I was the scumbag who brought it to Diarm's attention, but this:
probably needs expanding to include UEFA Cup and European Cup Winner's Cup, and maybe the main domestic cup competition too (Coppa Italia in this case). It stll doesn't account for the 15 appearances as far as I can see, but Im only going off Baggio's Wiki with feck all for Gentile.
It's in the OP now. But originally it definitely didn't say anything about the 15 games being league and champs league only from the beginning.

Mate, that part was there from the beginning. It was not a new rule. Anto even posted clarification on that rule earlier in the thread.
Anyway, I just checked, Baggio does not have 15 appearance in either 1985/86 or 1986/87, even counting all tournaments. It is an invalid pick.
Can any of you convince your AM to take the open slot?

I still don't get why anyone would give up already. All our dream chains are going to be mercilessly sodomised throughout (it was the whole idea of the draft I thought), and Stobz has got a good first pick at the far end of the decade restriction from many of us.
I support EAP on that. It was on there from the beginning, but being the idiot I was, I completely forgot about that rule until EAP brought it up again.
Yeah that part is on me. I assumed that if they had been together for more than one season you could share the 15 games but obviously that would have made the whole thing too easy. That part is clearly written though so I apologise for the error.

Unless he makes a sudden turnaround, he needs to be replaced. I'm not sure if @Edgar Allan Pillow will go the full 8 hours until Stobz' replacement comes in, or if he chooses to skip Stobz'/new player's pick instead.
I've messaged EAP about it.. Can we start providing evidence for the chains from the 3rd pick forward? It's in the rules.
We are waiting for someone to take over. If no one is forthcoming Pat_Mustard will submit his pick by around 10:AM GMT on 26th.
I'm in no way going back and re-picking. It was my own fault for not fully comprehending the rules as they were set but given that the only chains I had in place that could be considered competitive are now invalid I don't see a way I can make it work.
As I stated to EAP, one of my 2-3 links is two games short of working, but would set me up into other decades to get a full XI and the other is a champions league qualifier I missed (or one group game, unsure) and considered invalid.
I don't now have the time to commit to other chains given the amount of research it would take. I appreciate the offer of a do over from EAP but it fixes the wrong problem.

@Edgar Allan Pillow, I'm not sure you are aware your definition is complete dogshit? How many "League and European Cup"games do you think the average pre-70s South American side offer?
The Uruguayan League had all of 18 games at one point. 18!!!!! So get injured or suspended for any amount of time and the guy is out.
The European Cup/Libertadores doesn't add much to anyone pre-60 and even in the 60s it was just the one team per country playing them.
Or go to Brazil were most years there was no actual league you can speak of.
The average South American side spent most of the year playing all these "meaningless tournos" you have ruled out.
EDIT: you actually can't keep Gentile as Baggio doesn't have enough games whatever competitions you take into account. Rant on the change to league+EC still stands.

I really wanted to avoid charity shield, pre-season etc and keep this to main leagues. Impossible to start listing every cup and excluding them. Main league for the country + CL (being most popular) was my reasoning for that rule.
He's going for a better route, I thought. I did not place any restriction apart from getting a valid pick in place.
