Cesc Fabregas

Cesc could never be a like for like replacement for Xavi, but imo Busquets could.

The question is whether a) Cesc does have more quality than Busquets and b) is that worth tweaking the system to accommodate him given the huge amount of success with the current one.

I agree with the Madrid claim. But only because he would be playing the role he should be playing, and he wouldn't have to compete with Xavi. Once Xavi goes there will be no problem. If he doesn't like it, im sure SAF would take him in a heartbeat, despite pizzagate. Get in his ear RVP!! :D

Arsenal fans would literally explode.

All those Spanish beer ads are laughable when they try and copy norf european lad-ads (risible in themselves) and come across as sweetly homoerotic.

That Chinese guy has the "Laughing, heart warming oriental" role nailed for years.

+ I came.

I remember when RVP signed for us, Cesc reacted on twitter by saying he was shocked etc.

Don't think he'd shit on Arsenal.

Don't think they'll sell him tbh.

Much better chance of Thiago Alacantara.

I think we have an option to buy him back, not that it's worth anything.

No chance of either. Thiago looks a quality talent imo. Only reason he doesn't get huge praise for his age is because he doesnt play as much as Wilsher/Gotze. Maybe not as good as them, but has huge potential, and is already amazing.

don't think so? I'm not sure.

Consider this:

you lot sneak in 4th, however given everything that has happened this year and the anger in your fan base which seems stronger than ever, the board could make bringing back fabregas as a move to show that they 'care' and quiet down the ire from the supporters.

a considerable scrap for you guys to chew on and stay happy with for a few more years of trophyless football.

@BD

Yeah he is a good talent, but he can't stay on their bench forever. From where will he get into their team ?

Yeah, I dunno tbh. He's only 21 though, still quite young for a midfielder, so shouldn't be getting too restless yet. Xavi won't be around forever, so there's a space, even if Fabregas takes that one, then Thiago can take Fabregas'. I reckon he'll be there for his whole career, like a lot of La Masia graduates. He's good enough, so he'll stay.

21? fecking hell.

Cesc isn't coming back, he's going on to replace Xavi. Ferguson is fecking off in a couple of months time so let's see how your trophy haul looks like in a couple of years.

He's there to replace Xavi. Xavi replaced Pep, and at it took him till at least Cesc's age to get settled. Relatively there's no step down whatsoever. It's quite a promisingly even trade if all goes to plan.

Agreed. I can see him doing a very capable job in that role. While he's young and mobile enough he can play a more forward position, ala Scholes.

He also seems to be good friends and have a good understanding with Messi, which should help the transition no end. Xavi's 33, Cesc is 25. It'll happen soonish. There's nothing to see here.

It's a bit weird that he's only 25. Seems like he's been around for atleast 20 odd years.

There are very few, and Fabregas can do all the other things Xavi does too plus score goals.

He was 17 in 2006 when he ran the game at the Bernabeu (0-1 to the Arsenal). One of the greatest performances I've ever seen.

Cracking player indeed, rubbish move though, surely he has stagnated a bit? Haven't seen him much at all lately and he was playing false 9 for Spain, but he has certainly gone from one of the most exciting upcoming talents to just one of many very good players out there.

Shame.

But he's at his hometown boyhood club though isn't he? (Hometown, but dunno bout boyhood..)

I dunno, I'd be pretty comfortable doing anything as long as the club was still near the top and your own footballing ethos revolved around it. Much different to a young player trying to make his mark and go elsewhere. He's trying to come home and he will play on until he's 35 and maybe even retire at Barca.

I just think it's a bit different in terms of ethos. It's not really as though he needs to 'get his career back on track'.

Nothing rubbish about playing in a team that wins trophies. It's not like he spends most of his games on the bench, he's played a lot this season. From his POV, it has been a good move even if his performances cannot truly satisfy him so far

No one plays better after Arsene.
