Cesc Fabregas

He's not entirely happy at Barcelona, claiming that 'no-one can be a great substitute.'

I reckon we should bid £15m and be done with it.

The world moves on, but I don't want him sold anywhere but us. Interesting how Wenger went to great lengths to insert a first refusal if he were ever to be sold.

[Football banter] He should come to Man United because we are better than Arsenal. [/Football banter]

Not sure what he expected, was always going to be a sub.

Yeah, first refusals mean a lot in football.

If Fabregas does comes back to England, which is unlikely, he won't be a cnut and go to Man Utd, City or Chelsea.

Yeah that is cetainly the impression I have from him. He would be incredible at United, we talk about a successor to Scholes and he is pretty much the ultimate replacement.

cnut or no cnut, ambitions (about either winning trophies or $) often trumps loyalty. What do Arsenal offer?

Everybody needs Fabregas even Barca, though they don't seem to think so.

Fabregas is more than good enough to be in their first team though. It baffles me when he doesn't start, especially when they're playing the cannon fodder.

Cesc knew when he joined Barca there would be competition for places, what with them being a great team. Silly of him to moan.

Aye despite the moral outrage at our numerous test subjects we're yet to find a fool proof cure.

We have however brought in Richard Wright for further testing.

If you read the article, he doesn't mean that he is looking to leave. Just saying that he's not good enough.

"The manager knows what I can offer. But across the three positions that I can play, I am competing with the three best players in the world.

"I'm delighted to be a part of this team but when a coach tells me I have to go, I'll go.

"But I will not make it easy for him to do so, by any means. I will keep going, looking forward to the time that things change.

"I came here to see out my career."

Wenger didn't care about Kolo since he was fecked, or Clichy since we'd had enough of his brainfarts. He did a number on Ade and Nasri, no one has yet played better after leaving Arsenal.

Against the cannon fodder, sure, but how can it baffle you when he doesn't start the biggest games? He's not better than Iniesta, Xavi or Busquets (not for the latter's role at any rate), and if he plays up front along with Messi, we lack width.

You move into the realms of controversy here - I personally feel, although I should whisper it, that Cesc is on Xavi's level now.

He loses the ball too easily, doesn't always think it through. He's a better goalscorer, but other than that, I don't rate him at Xavi's level. Perhaps long balls, but I think that has more to do with Xavi very rarely attempting it than actual ability.

Cesc got 49 appearances last season, so even if some of them were off the bench, it's still far too many matchs to actually complain about it... especially now that Xavi isn't getting any younger.

Fair points in the main, in my view. I personally feel that Cesc's more direct and aggressive approach is somewhere Barcelona may well need to go this season.

When he played for us in the Bernabeu in 2006 he gave a masterclass in CM. He's very good player and can fit in anywhere but CM is what he's really, really good at.

I like that he can be more direct, and I certainly like that he's more of a goal threat... but he has looked very unfocused and sloppy at times, e.g. against Real Madrid. He needs to improve on that part of his game, so he doesn't lose the ball through thoughtlessness.*

* Yes, I realise I'm nitpicking here, but it's really the only thing you can do with that level of footballers..!
