Cash to be splashed: Summer 2015

How much cash to be splashed ?

I do expect the same amount as last year, which is huge in every point.
  • Herrera 30M
  • Shaw 27M
  • Rojo 16M
  • Di Maria 60M
  • Blind 14M
  • Falcao 8M
So it’s 155M£, I would like for this summer
  • 40M in Hummels
  • 20M in Clyne or Coleman or Carvajal
  • 20 in Gundogan
  • 60 + De Gea on Bale (or 35M on Depay and 35M on another striker)

We'll spend big again this year. LVG's past track record matters not a jot, the financial situation and the calibre of players available are not comparable. Add into the mix that this is his last job he's going to want to give himself the best chance of success and will bring in the players who will give him the best chance of that happening.

I reckon 120 million

£40m is the new £30m.

Someone like Pogba would be possibly £60M. Certainly above £50th.

Hopefully north of £150m gross Is invested. We need four or five top players.

I do believe that if Bale became available, we would make it happen and that could see this figure increase.

Alright but lets be reasonable here and not lose sight of the value of money. When City spend £150 million and dont win the title our fans laugh at them. When they spend £170 million and don't get to the latter stages of the champions league, they are mocked again.

But we need to spend £150 million to get top 4 and then £170 million again to compete for the title? It seems like since we fell off the top, we've fallen into the situations some other clubs have had in the past that we looked down on. Arsenal and the 4th place trophy, City and the overspending to not have a lot of success. Why the different tune?
Couldn't care less for City but they have their first titles in history for a reason. We were underspending for years and as you can see we're quite far from raising the next class of 92 plus we let players like Ronaldo and Pogba out in the past.

We've got some serious catching up to do. Do you think Mourinho and Guardiola would suddenly change their tune and stop spending at all because they're such great managers ? Not a chance.

We got sponsorship money and greatest marketing value on the planet. We should exploit that instead of crying for old times like scousers do from 20 years.

55M Hummels & Gundogan
25M Clyne
25M Depay

That's 105 Million right there and it could be more depending on the De Gea situation. If he asks to leave, we'll probably have to give Tottenham what we get for De Gea + another 15 Million to land Lloris. I don't see us getting a player from Madrid for De Gea if he asks to leave. With the contract situation as it is and De Gea wanting to leave, Real Madrid won't have to spend much to get him.

You dont see a difference between not spending much and spending £170 million, £20 million more than our record breaking previous summer?

Yes City won the title, the summer previous to that they didnt spend as much as we did last summer. And you want us to spend more this time.

About £115m
Hummels + Gundogan £50m
Clyne & Schneiderlin 40m
Depay 25m

I could live with this.

Personally I wouldn't buy Gundogan if we buy Schneiderlin though. Might need a replacement for de Gea too - my choice would be Leno or Lloris. £120-130m

Hummels/Laporte £30-40m
Clyne & Schneiderlin £45m
Memphis £22m
Leno £22m

I already mentioned that we have some catching up to do as a club. If in previous years we could do better in executing the long term transfer plans there would be no such conversation about how much we should spend in the first place.

As long as everything is not colliding with Fifa's fair play spending we have a right to invest the needed amount. We need not only quality but also quality depth. It will require the funds to create new system and sustain it in four parallel competition based season... and why would I care about City ? They're in a way different financial fair play situation.

So we're going to buy the title, if we do manage to win it. Gotcha

Really? I think we need 2 new centre mids given the extra games due to Europe plus Carrick's not getting any younger. All it took was him and Blind getting injured and we had to play 2 players out of position in our midfield.

Better we than Arabs. Time to understand that class of 92 doesn't pop out from nowhere, every year. Sometimes you need to throw the buck and swing the dick on the market.

Perhaps you have a better idea, I want to hear it.

Blind had a great injury record before he joined. Schneiderlin could play as 6 if both are injured and he'd also be backup for Herrera. For Fellaini's position we've also got Mata and Rooney. I think van Gaal wants a smaller squad (he always liked this).

Fair enough. At the moment though I think we definitely need another box to box midfielder and replacing Carrick's got to be done in plenty of time. That is unless he's earmarked Blind as his replacement, in which case we'd still need to bring in someone as cover. Sooner the better in my book but I guess it could wait another season.

We need that 4th European cup and we should be doing everything possible to achieve it. We need to use our financial power and advantage over other teams to win some big trophies over the next few years, so we should go all out and spend over £150million in the summer. (I've included a Di Maria sale in this sum though) Apparantly we are going to sign 6 players in the summer if De Gea leaves.

Bale- £60million+ De Gea
Hummels- £30million
Schniederlin- £25million
Lloris- £20million
Gundogan- £15million
Coleman- £15million

Total- £165million

I sure do. Lets manage our players better than our opponents rather than just outspend them and hope it works out

The different tune is because other teams were throwing money around like it was going out of style while we thought that selling Ronaldo for £80M and replacing him with Valencia was a good idea.

How does that make any difference? We were still successful.

While we were on top we looked down on others, but when we're in the same position as they are all our fans are behind exactly what their fans were behind.

4th place trophy? Check. Even our manager mentioned it was like a trophy.
Buying the title? Check. Apparently we should just spend as much money as possible

We were still successful mainly due to the driving force that was SAF, that covered up a lot of cracks (Like the fact we didn't have a working midfield for years).
We we continually playing catchup in Europe and were embarrassed by Barca twice. Its about time we splash the cash and level the playing field.

Im not saying we should be idiots like PSG and pay 50M for David Luiz, but when players marquee players like Neymar and Pogba are available we should push the boat right out to acquire them. We let too many fantastic targets slip from our grasp (Schneider, Hazard, Ronaldinho etc).

£25m for Clyne will be a staggering rip off.

Not sure how much we can squeeze out of Young, RVP, Evans, Rafael and 33 years old Carrick. At some point spending is inevitable but I like the idea of not giving up on some players we already got.

Keeping De Gea in the club and getting the best out of Di Maria could definitely help, especially when we may have Bayern as one of our opponents in the CL group. However the other clubs will still try and charge us extra 10 millions for every deal that's out there.

its a toughy because it all depends on how badly the club want another marquee player or 2 to add to the "star power"

We could have a very successful summer buying cheaper functional players in positions of need and still have enough to have a go at the title and a good champions league run. clyne, gundogan, depay, hummels with quoted prices and your looking at like 90m-100m.

Things will only get seriously pricey if the club decide to take stabs at players like Bale and pogba, and if that happens i think we will probably set a transfer spend record.

Players value out: £12m (a couple of youngsters and Rafael)
Players value in: £185m (3 defenders, 2 midfielders and a world class striker)
Net value: £173m

We will spend over 100m easily again this summer, can't see any other scenario because we blatantly need 4-5 players and that kind of money will go pretty quickly in today's market.

I reckon we'll spend £80 -£100 mil. No way are we spending another £150 odd mil.

We'll do over 100m I think. Think we will definitely sign these four...
Hummels: 30-40m
Gundogan: 20-25m
Depay: 20-25m
Clyne: 15-20m

And then one more, either Bale, or some striker like Dybala/Lacazette. If De Gea leaves, then I think we'll get Bale and Lloris as well as those 4 above.

Can see us selling quite a few though so net spend won't be as much as last season.

I have said 100-150m
However I think the net spend will be somewhat lower with
Nani £10m
Hernandez £12m
Rafael £7m
Evans £7m
And unfortunately de gea £20
Plus some fringe players making a total of circa £60m income

I actually don't think we need to spend as huge as most are making out.

Something like Bayern's clever expenditure should be our template.

Not Real like extravagance and then sacking manager.

Edit - Even CHelski operating in the transfer market well recently.

Will be a huge test for LVG also as if he spends 150 million then expectations are raised at topmost and stakes for his JOB. win things or sack.

£125M gross.Which is worth €171M.Considering we'll be shopping in largely european market.I think that will cover 3 top class players + possibly a marquee player.

This thread makes me sad, even though I'm a muppet. What happened to giving youth a chance?

A couple of shrewd acquisitions in the right positions (RB and CM), and I'm a happy camper.
