Elanga as the hard-working roaming support striker.
Rashford with his pace for the counter.
Fred and McTominay will provide defensive support on the sides for AWB and Shaw who will tuck in and join the 3 CB's in the box to make it 5 auxiliary CB's. Casemiro will make it a possible 6th CB when need be.

Yes, your selection is ideal but not reality.

Before you attract those prospective players, the club need to back to the CL football and not get relegation.
Otherwise, no high potential and high profile young players will join us without insane salary.
Also, as your mentioned FDJ, we attracted him a whole summer and up to now, there is still no sign he will come.

ManCity is running very well in last decent, they can provide a ideal environment for development and winning for champions. Not like us......... We are fecking off and free failing

That is not true. The are the top apparent young targets that everyone is going after i.e the Hallands, Nunez, Touchameni. You are going to loose out on those players to Madrid, City, Pool no question.
But there are other targets who are not as well known who you can get if you have proper scouting. Rangnick literally suggested some of those players while he was here and we didn't go after them. He suggested Luiz Diaz, Julian Alvarez, Denis Zakaria , Nkunku, Dusan
We didn't go after them and those players were either signed up by other clubs or got new contracts with their current clubs.
These players who are a better fit longterm are available. UTD are either too slow in acting to sign them or don't scout them properly. We need to stop excusing their transfer policy. We can build for the long term with better decision making and better scouting. We shouldn't go after players who are exiting their prime. Sure we can all get excited in the short term. But 2,3 years from now we will be looking to replace them. It makes no sense at all. Go after someone who can fill the need for 7- 10 years. Otherwise are in a constant state of rebuild. We have been in one since SAF left and its because there is no planning for the long-term

Ridiculous discussion. If a player desperately needs another player to unlock him, he needs to be locked up!

It Isn’t ridiculous at all, it all depends on what system is employed by the manager, if you don’t have the right players in the right positions then players go missing. So players can unlock others in my personal opinion.

I believe Fernandinho was 28/29 when he joined City…

Cheers mate. Didn't know that.

His salary will be 300/w. That's quite a lot. Hopefully this transfer will work out, because we don't need another deadwood unwilling/unable to move out due to his high salary.

Casemiro is class! Imagine keeping Fabinho out of Brazil squad. He is better than Kovacic like for like. I hope he is not coming here for a holiday. Genuine world class player and if his motivations are right, could solve big problems for us.

I think he’s fecking nails. If he comes here with that attitude and stays healthy, I can see him being a big influence in the side. It says something that Casemiro has been the preferred DM for the Brazil side over Fernandinho and Fabinho.

Fingers crossed.

Bizarre thing to say. Football is a team sport and you need a group of players and a manager that compliment each other to succeed. No player can be at their best if they don't have players around them that can do the things that they can't.

Another thing, we need a player who is willing to scythe someone down for a red to get the side pumped up. We can’t roll over like we’ve done for the last 18 months.

We need a Sergio Ramos, a Romero, a Casemiro who will never take shit.

Fred is now unlocked. Kid you not. Free from the shackles of having to be a pretend dm.

Fred - Eriksen
Casemiro

Ridiculous statement, especially in the modern game where theres more emphasis on tactics and team than individuality.

I don’t think we will have a huge amount to spend at RB even if we sell AWB. Maybe £20m at best. Of the names I’ve seen us linked with off the top of my head I would probably prefer someone like Frimpong or Gusto but not sure how much they would cost.

In attack we need both a RW and a ST in my view but might only get 1. If we can get Antony within budget then I would favour him as he was one of our primary targets. If Ronaldo were to leave and we had to make do with Martial and Rashford as CF for a season then so be it.

If we can’t get Antony then ideal option would probably be someone who can play across the front line. Gakpo could be an option but not convinced he’s at the required level. None of the other links have seemed that realistic except for Pulisic on loan.

Well our two main targets seem to be Dest & Meunier who are around £12-£13m. Yeah we could definitely do with both a left footed RW and CF but like you say can only see us getting one (hinges on Ronaldo staying/leaving I suspect)

Amazing signing that will help transform us.

Players we still need:
RB — Dalot is so bad defensively. Potentially Dest here? I really like Dest as a RWB. A menace going forward.
GK — We just need a keeper who can distribute and commands his box.

If we can splash another 30-50m and get quality at RB and GK, we may have something. Would love a FW/ striker too.
You are right. Dalot needs replacing. De Gea and Rashford.

Had hopes this was a just a silly rumor and even though it's a good deal for us I still didn't wanted for him to leave just yet. Since the 3-peat and with Ronaldo leaving it seemed it was time to move on from the Modric-Kroos-Casemiro midfield but they showed they still were class and good enough to keep winning with them. Out of the three of them probably Kroos was expected to leave the club first, so it's a bit surprising Casemiro is going to be the first.

With his departure it officially ends the era of probably our best midfield, so I really wish he can do well at United but at the moment seems almost an impossible task. :(

I'm not having that. I can accept the argument that Pogba was never able to reach his full potential at OT because his teammates were relatively shit (compared to France and Juve at least), but Pogba was part of the problem itself. His talent was and is abundant, but did we ever see him put in 100% effort under adversity? And how often was he out injured? Was the miss of the sitter against Liverpool in a match that was important at the time caused by the absence of Kante or someone like Casemiro? The ridiculous red card against Liverpool? The agent crap, social media cap, the dabbing crap? None of his behavior on and off the pitch caused by the absence of a holding midfielder before or after Matic's second season with us, when his legs began to go and we went to McFred 24/7.

I know this is the Casemiro thread but this is an important point to wrap up here. We can't allow players who underperform to get away with the excuse that it was someone else's fault that they underperformed. The other day I saw someone blame the first goal against Brentford on Ronaldo when it was clearly De Gea's howler. Howlers happen, fine, but at least assign responsibility to the player. Pogba downed tools on us. The important lesson is that even though we're bringing in a brilliant midfielder the rest of the squad has to pull up their socks if we're going to accomplish anything this season.

We’re gonna have to play Varane when Casemiro signs. Casemiro could get exposed with his lack of pace if ten Hag still intends on playing the high line and high press style of play. This is a much faster and stronger league then La liga. Plus with Madrid he’s used to having a lot of possession and they build there attacks through slow patient build up.

This signing is similar to when Chelsea signed Makelele at 30 years of age from Real Madrid after being marginalised and having fall outs with perez, He turned out to be intstrunmental in their rebuild when

Casimero is a tough son of a bitch, who takes no shit on the pitch. We need a physical presence, leader and someone who is a specialist in the midfield and this man ticks all the boxes.

I don't care if he's 30, players like Modric, Kroos, Kevin De Bruyne, Eriksen are all older and still playing a high level both for their clubs and country.

Hell Pirlo played until he was 38.

the definition of parking the bus. Casemiro as a what? 6th CB?

where is varane going backwards? A second GK?

i wont even comment on the forwards. Opposition won’t need to defend.

Certainly not Ronaldo's fault and the failed save is indeed a howler but the 10 seconds leading up to the shot were a complete team failure. DDG diving over the ball was the cherry on the shite sundae but the total absence of any real defensive commitment or desire to win back possession in our own defensive third contributed. Put another way, If that had been Eriksen on the ball in that position in the Brentford half he would have been swarmed and dispossessed long before he could line up his shot.
