People need to stop making hypothetical teams with Mctominay in them. Rashford too for that matter, considering we are actively looking to replace them.

I don’t know. I should be jizzing myself silly but it feels like the Matic transfer. Great we finally bring in a top class midfielder, but won’t bother with bringing in a future replacement until Casemiro’s certified retired. People saying that we should go for Caicedo next season are kidding themselves, United do not operate that smartly nor efficiently.

You could add Sneijeder, Llorente(I liked him at Atlético), Callejon or Higuain. Also has Brahim Diaz been transferred or is he still on loan?
 
Naturally, it will turn out we have been in contact with his agent for 18 months, and have been bidding in increments of £500, and have now reached a suitable price.

Nah absolutely, it has huge potential to be completely transformative. Have to give credit to the club for pulling this off, not a single person would have envisioned Casemiro joining so it's a serious coup and show of intent (and it's a relatively good deal). Can't wait to see him at OT.

HERE WE GO!!! Finally a DM at the club. Finally! Not a DM, sorry, one of the best in the business! I haven’t been excited about a signing for a long time. Casemiro will surely bring some balance to this terrible team

I don’t think we will have a huge amount to spend at RB even if we sell AWB. Maybe £20m at best. Of the names I’ve seen us linked with off the top of my head I would probably prefer someone like Frimpong or Gusto but not sure how much they would cost.

In attack we need both a RW and a ST in my view but might only get 1. If we can get Antony within budget then I would favour him as he was one of our primary targets. If Ronaldo were to leave and we had to make do with Martial and Rashford as CF for a season then so be it.

If we can’t get Antony then ideal option would probably be someone who can play across the front line. Gakpo could be an option but not convinced he’s at the required level. None of the other links have seemed that realistic except for Pulisic on loan.
 
Can someone help the lazy ones here get up to speed? What’s the excitement? Has he signed?

This is the problem. Short term thinking. Casemiro helps us in the next 2 years to get into top 4. Then 2 years later we will need to replace him. So why not get someone who can play the next 2 years and another 6 years on top of that. FDJ was that kind of player. He's 25, at the min you are getting 7 years of his prime before he starts to decline.

We should be solely looking at players in the 22- 25 year range. Players who are not too young, are just going into their prime and have 7 + years left of good football.

Otherwise we are constantly caught in this cycle of having to holes in the squad. So lets next summer we get a striker and another CM to play next to Casemiro. A year or two years after that we will need to replace him. We need to start filling holes in the squad in the long term so we are not caught in this constant cycle of rebuilds.

Look at Varane. That transfer was a mistake. Great player but older and always hurt. Look at what City did, they got in Diaz who at that time was 23 for a 6 year contract. They got a player who can fill that position for 8 - 10 years.

Often we get transfer rumours of overseas players that I've barely heard of let alone watched play. Seen enough of this guy over the years to know he's the real deal. Even if we only got 2 - 3 good seasons out of him it will be awesome. Just an enormous upgrade on anything we've had since ... since ... feck knows!
