He can't play on Monday. He has a (second) Spanish passport, but unfortunately people are forgetting that many idiots voted to give up all the advantages of being part of a Europe-wide community. So, he'll now need a work visa. Welcome to the ever-infuriating realities of Brexit.
Be careful now , our possible lord and savior sir Jim may not like hearing that!

I don’t know if this has been posted. But if it’s true, what the actual feck

I'm sorry but Ornstein should never share these kind of things, he knows damn well that McTominay sounds like a fool.

I'm really surprised by the reaction to this signing to be honest.
A 30 year old whos best days are behind him, who doesn't have the legs to play in the PL is what I see . I've no doubt this will once again split the match going fans and while some of us are at the protest the others will now be queuing at the mega store to get their new Casimiro shirts..

Before anyone posts telling me I'm mad ask yourself would any of the other so called top clubs in England pay that amount of money for him... The answer is NO

He runs more than our entire midfield per game and has a much higher pass completion. He certainly has the legs.

I'm a match going fan as you put it, but not sure why my opinion is anymore relevant than someone who doesn't go to the games.

So was Matic ffs

And we will see one of Camavinga or the other lad whose name i can’t be arsed spelling anymore comprehensively overtake him in the coming season and most definitely over the course of Casemiros contract here while we are stuck with a player on the same wages as both of Madrids improving players. We are just a final destination for players at clubs who’ve hit their ceiling wage wise and their current club don’t wish to invest further for a player about to lose peak fitness and drive. Our scouts and owners are absolutely brutal. This is exactly how you spend 1 billion quid and have the highest wage bill and get Jack shit for your money over 5 years but fans still get excited about it. Over and over.

The real problem here is while we clog up the squad with expensive duds and keep giving them contracts to protect their value and continue to fail, the best up and coming players won’t want to come here and the cycle continues
Absolutely.

Some fans feel like hamsters spinning on wheels. The same thing every single summer. There's always a way they can be convinced by a name signing, no matter how many risks are involved and how many poor experiences we have with certain profiles. It always seems to require the mist to clear for the perfectly obvious red flags that were there all along to be accepted as such. Of course this one is different to all the others, why would it not be eh?

It's not even about the name Casimero and his individual quality to me. It's the thought process, the scrambling around last minute, the signing of a player for huge money from Real Madrid just because we can. The lack of professionalism and structure that has given rise to all of our problems, and yet somehow we're negative for not spunking over the name Casimero that is the output of our shoddy approach. I'd say it's far from negative, it is genuine concern that the club we're passionate about don't seem to ever learn.

Still think it’s crazy how this guy was the backup option to Rabiot. It’s like saying “We couldn’t get Arnautovic so we’ll settle with Benzema instead”.

Fred and McTominay should be nowhere near the first 11. Nowhere near. Both totally reckless with the ball losing it in the most unimaginable spots. Both technically poor. McT regular in poor ball receiving and then assaulting opposing player with a tackle and receiving yellow for it. Fred being Fred. Gifting passes to opposition players on the edge of own box. How did we ended up with these two in mid?

I would have thought any of the top clubs would have had Casemiro in their teams given the chance, it's just that none of them would have paid that much.

I don't see the fee as an issue, we need a midfielder, he's a top class midfielder who has plenty to offer. Only time will tell if he actually worth the money. If he improves our midfield, which I have no doubt he will, then he's 100% worth the cash.

Reported. Made up words don't mean anything

This is a coup and an incredible signing. After our poor start there were demands to play the kids. There is absolutely no reason to do that and you likely ruin their development track. Casemiro can start for 3 to 4 years and play at a high level, which would give time to young players like Iqbal, Savage or Hannibal to develop.

Rabiot is 3 years younger, cheaper and probably on less wages.

There's a gap in quality between both players but it isn't that weird to think that Casemiro was one of the last options, for starters you can reasonably think that Real Madrid wouldn't want to seel and Casemiro would like to stay.

In two years the same people saying “if this is a panic signing then more of the same” will be same ones moaning about wasted money, and I thoughtless signings etc

The majority of our fans are short term thinking entertainment junkies. Our owners must love them. It’s just so unbelievably shoddy. Its actually like some fella playing FM as Real and using United as the cheat team to ease their wage bill and free up money so they can get the best up and coming talents instead. Only it’s in real life. Disgusting

Why did RM already sign his replacement, before he’d even left?

The other top clubs don't need him, certainly not as desperately as we do. It's a pointless comparison. Their priorities generally lie elsewhere. Chelsea need someone younger as they already have two aging midfielders. Arsenal need a more progressive player as they already have Partay. City, Liverpool and Spurs don't need him.

I'd rather we have a better scouting system and pick talented players up before they peak, but we're not in that position. A few years down the line, hopefully we will be, with an established manager, style of play, and more soecific target player profiles.

You are quit deluded if you think we are still a top club. We are not in any aspect other than notoriety. On the pitch we have lost players, have a squad of under-performers and are struggling to adapt to a new manager. Internally, we are a shambles by all accounts in every department. Oh yeah, we are also possibly going to be sold soon to new owners.

Top clubs don’t have to do what we are doing because they function effectively top to bottom. We need to drop the arrogance and rebuild. If that means paying for top characters in positions we need to stabilise on the pitch then so be it. As long as the gaffer wanted him…I’m good…and so should you be.

We never gonna learn sadly, so dumb if this goes through. How people aint tired of doing same shtick every year, world class this, world class that, transfer window saved etc. Hope he has higher nature resistance because others went to shit after few months of rot setting in.

Our buildup play rubbish. Improve that big time is what FJD would do. Isn't it obvious watching our buildup?

I feel our midfield circulation and movement is very poor. But tbh I also feel that improving our passes to the attackers we have won’t make a huge difference because those attackers aren’t good enough. I guess my major concern right now is that we leak goals. I can see our buildup play is appalling but I don’t quite see how De Jong fixes this, the more I read and watch I worry he is tremendously overrated.

Yet he played one of the best PL teams (one of the best teams full stop) in the CL final and one of the semis v City… and looked ok?

His last year's numbers:

I think in this window a starting XI RB would be top for me. We absolutely need to get another body in attack also in this window but I’m not sure the budget will stretch to get someone in who is a significant upgrade on what we have in our starting team. Same with the GK position. The other CM can maybe wait until next summer.

Think we could maybe manage until Jan without a technical CM, however not sure until next summer.

Who do you think we should be looking to sign at RB out of interest, also do we need a right sided attacker or more of a striker.

A genuine question for the posters who remembers early days of Darren Fletcher. Is Scott Mctominay really far worse than young Fletcher? I remember he was described as a "stepson" of SAF, and Scottish connection was a constant theme at the time.
