Not my fave signing given the money he will be on into his 30s. But it has happened now.

Positives are, he can be ETHs Edson Alvarez. Slightly worrying that that version of Ajax had blind at LB and Mazroui at right back who were essentially the play makers. This might make signing a right back even more important.

Other positive is, making the above null and void, ETH is extremely flexible so he is in a good position to make whatever random transfer strategy we persue work

Anyone know what kind of attitude Casemiro has? Someone who can kick our prima donnas up their asses and drag them along or someone likely to get influenced by the whining folks (mainly in attack) and lose all motivation?
Really excited about the signing but I've been this way before only to be let down in a few months:nervous:
He has that Roy Keane style aggression and leadership.

Chant - Is this the way to Amarillo

There's just no way past Casemiro
He's from Brazil, Uniteds hero
We're dreaming dreams of Casemiro
He's just like Keano in a shitter team

Yet he played one of the best PL teams (one of the best teams full stop) in the CL final and one of the semis v City… and looked ok?

He looked okay yes he did but he didn't have Fred ,McT, Maguire ,Shaw ,Dalot running around beside him . I'm calling this now as another awful signing .

He’s obviously not going to change things all on his own but I’ll be happy seeing Chelsea midfielders and City and Liverpools flying off the ground due to Casemiro tackles. Teams would fear the battle now. ‬

A genuine question for the posters who remembers early days of Darren Fletcher. Is Scott Mctominay really far worse than young Fletcher? I remember he was described as a "stepson" of SAF, and Scottish connection was a constant theme at the time.
Fletcher looked a bit ropey during our greatest period. McT looks awful when we're at our worst.

Hope he can get away with bookings like his fellow midfield Brazilians have managed in the past few years.
Don't hold your breath on that. All it takes is Klopp to tell United get away with fouls and all refs will start booking him even if he just runs past players.

I am baffled that we managed to pull this off

How did we go from Rabiot and Arnautovic to Casemiro and maybe Antony? Crazy.

Who said we can't make transfers happen quickly eh?

This has been a whirlwind. Not even 200 pages  feck you De Jong

I haven't had enough time to unzip yet. How was this done so quickly? Absolutely unbelievable signing.

Yeah he'll love those games.

Shame he won't be available for Monday's game.

despite his age, this is really a massive signing and there really can't be any complaints as he plugs arguably the biggest hole we had going into this season....he does a job we don't currently have and that's someone to protect the space in front of the two CB's and his ability to progress the ball from the DCM position is very very good.

ffs...now can we just find him a decent partner??? honestly with his experience i'd be really interested to see Garner or Zidane get a chance to play alongside him

Its working out kinda good at brazils national team for him... cant remember who he is playing with there... yeah right. FRED

any class player willing to join this cricrus of a club which we currently are deserves our respect.

However, i don't get how he fits the profile of players wanted by 10Hag. Casemiro is more of Ole/Jose type of player.
Isn't Edson Alvarez a DM? Ten Hag played him last season. Most of the passing came from the centre-backs, so I just assumed he had a lot of the defensive responsibility.

Fletcher was hugely hyped and spent a lot of time playing it safe and running. I like to think McTominay could bloom in a similar way to how Fletcher did - he suddenly “got it” and went up two levels. Fletcher was certainly quite underwhelming for a while.

Great player.

I don't like the fee or that we're again signing a player for the relative short term, but here's hoping he can translate his performances because we badly need him to.

It isnt my money - they can do what they want. I wont be spending anything on the club outside of my Sky subscription so why do I care if they get fleeced again by a rival for a player that they deem is surplus to requirements.
Same old United. The club died when Fergie left.

He's has extreme professionalism with a very very good attitude, I don't think he's the type to influence our other players (always struck me as more of a silent type) but he shouldn't lose motivation.

Yeah. I remember how sad everyone was when he got a red in a CL semifinal of 2009. He was that instrumental back then.

Money

United have it. And if for whatever reason they decided they had to have Casemiro at any cost, I think they'd get it done.

More chance of me voluntarily removing my penis than United spending enough to get the deal done though.

I actually checked that it's called penectomy. TBH it's insane that we've signed him and i would have shared the sentiments with all posters in the first few pages of this thread !

Mitten says that Ancelotti sees him as a manager, he's football obsessed, leaves his vacation early to join back with the squad if they need him, studies and analyses his own performances every game, is a tactics nerd etc.

A lot of what I've seen from him reminds me of a Roy Keane type. Not as good on the ball as Keane, probably better defensively, but overall just a modern day specialized version? Probably less of a dick, but yeah. On the pitch he's a beast and a fighter and won't give up.
Cheers mate. Pretty much what I wanted to hear. A modern day version of Roy sounds fantastic. His tackling reminds me of what Roy used to do too. Get in one of "those" tackles in early to let the other team know that he's around.

This signing could change our season!! Hoping this transforms the way we play.

That's quite a lot of money and a long contract, given his age. Shades of Matic for me, but beggars can't be choosers right now.

Having said that, I'll 100% take this over signing no one. Hopefully one more forward to be added before the end of the window.
