How do you go from haggling with Rabiots mum for a week to wrapping up Casemiro in like 48 hours? None of it makes sense but I'm not complaining. We have a top 2 DM in world football and we aren't getting pushed over again in midfield, this is transformative.

God, these tweets. Has everyone forgotten we have Eriksen?? Sure FDJ is an upgrade, but Eriksen can also do the job if he is well protected. Which he will be now.
There is some logic in this - and it’s something many have already pointed out. In an ideal world, Casemiro is accompanied by another midfielder who’s quite good at getting on the ball in central areas of the field to ping it around.
But the second or third tweet in that twitter thread about him not being the no.6 like Frenkie for Ten Hag’s profile or whatever is just silly. ten Hag is a tactically flexible manager. Casemiro as a 6 is not massively different to what Edson Alvarez was doing at Ajax last season.

Casemiro is the type of player we need, my only issue is that it’s a typical United type of signing that highlights how badly the club is run and once again quieten gullible fans. So more of it will actually be bad.
We are signing a 30 year old on huge wages on a 4 year deal. It doesn’t appear to have been planned, it goes against everything we’ve said about future signings and several young CDM’s have moved to top clubs in the past 2 years.
Casemiro is the type of signing a club that has its shxt together makes, because obviously every team needs experience.
How do we turn Casemiro into a great signing? Well we need to be very active in the next 2 weeks to 12 months and sign younger players in the deeplaying role FDJ or alternative, a winger, a striker, a RB… then Casemiro will be a great signing.

Madrid fans on various forums are gutted that he's is leaving. With Varane, I had read mixed sentiments when he was leaving Madrid since he was injury prone and his performances had not been as impressive. But with Casemiro, the consensus among Madrid fans is that he is the best defensive midfielders in the world and has good three to four years of top level performances left in him.

Both of those two need replacing themselves, it would send totally the wrong message making either of them captain. Maguire has proven he can't handle the weight of it but keeping it on him isn't as harmful as handing it to either of them.
We can kick this down the road to when we've sorted out the bigger issues like finding players who are actually good enough to play in the first team for us. Casemiro might well be a good candidate once he's got his feet under the table.

This is just nonsense. Our midfield cant do anything. He fills an urgent gap as the 6 and is one of the best in the business at it.
Just because we don't have a ball progresser yet why should it stop us from fixing our DM issue that has plagued us for years? Or are they saying we are not allowed to fix more than one issue at once??
Casemiro is a upgrade on McTominay and replaces Matic. When the times comes we will also buy a ball progressor.. why does it matter which one we get first?
