This is not a 3 man midfield though. Effectively this will be Eriksen chasing balls lost by Bruno. Bruno is a forward anyway, this is why we play 4231 not 433 etc.
I do not think having all attacking players on the pitch at the same time is the way forward anyway. Would much rather have Bruno playing every other game when Eriksen needs a rest.

I'm surprised that ETH would go for a Casemiro profile player, when we have not been linked to many pure DMs at all, with the suggestion being that ETH didnt want such a player. Maybe the media reports were wrong, maybe ETH changed his mind, or maybe the club is forcing this transfer on him. Who knows.

Casemiero, Eriksen and Bruno could actually be a nice midfield three. I'm cautiously optimistic that this will actually work. Now fix our front three pretty please.
Think he has changed his mind after seeing how open we were first two games, our best hope now is to see if we can get a CM signed next week then debut a new look partnership against Southampton on Saturday.
I'd have Fred in there, and Eriksen off the bench. I don't think I'd have Eriksen and Bruno on the pitch at the same time, unless Eriksen can still play on the right which I don't think he can anymore.

If we really pull this off I hope he can stay fit and motivated, feels weird he would want to come. Whether he's a good fit for this team, we will see but looking at the RM team and overal gameplay structure, he surely knows how to play in a team full of individuals, rather than a drilled compact unit, which I think will initially be a big advantage, as it will take a bit of time to settle with ETH's system. And he seems like an intelligent player who slots in really well doing his job at world class level. Finally we can unleash Fred as a no8 and play Eriksen further up as well.
Desperately need an attacker who on top of bringing attacking quality can press as well, so the system can be implemented and this transfer will not come to nothing but for the transition, it definitely looks better than bringing FDJ in with zero protection in midfield.
We need more combative aggressive players, now we will have Malacia, Martinez, Fred, Casemiro, perhaps we could get Sancho and Elanga on the board too and Bruno, PLUS the attacking signing. Will look much better by the end of the window, I hope...

They've already got his replacement in Tchoumeni. It's the advantage of being Real Madrid - everyone wants to play for them.
I didn't say break the bank but if you buy Caciedo at 40m for example at a quarter of the wages, he would be a better long term fit than Casemiro considering we are rebuilding. Makelele was forced out of Madrid and was motivated to prove them wrong. In addition, he was already joining a strong team in Chelsea who had younger quality players around him. Chasing Top 4 and playing the EPL could mean Casemiro loses that 5-10% motivation to play to his best, I mean he's already assured of his retirement package from what we will be paying him. Kone is highly regarded but even him and Caciedo end up being busts, they will likely still have resale value due to them being young. We could be stuck with Casemiro's on the decline in 2 years but still be on De Gea wages. Look how much trouble we had with Sanchez, rinse and repeat

Caicedo has barely kicked a ball in European football. Some of these calls for us to spend £40m, £50m on him are very likely to age terribly. He may end up being a top player with a long career, but the jury will be out for a long time on that one.
And not everyone who gets sold by them is some dud. They decided to sell Robben and Sneijder, but both of those guys won the Champions League with their new respective clubs before Real won their next one.

Not really. Schweinsteiger was already becoming injury prone before joining United. Bayern knew exactly what they were doing.
That's not a good way to build a squad. We don't need short term solutions, we need long term ones. We have a new coach, so why not bring in younger players who can build into his style of play. We already brought in an older midfielder in Eriksen, so why bring in another one. We are clearly not challenging for the title in the next 3 years, so why bring in an older expensive option. Rather the younger players, even if it takes them a season or two to settle. We need to bed in a style, consistently make top 4 and then start thinking of challenging for the title. Even Madrid who like to splash cash, decided to go younger to rebuild their midfield. After selling us Varane, another expensive older recruit who turns out to have injury issues, we want to make the mistake again? PSG seem to have woken up and changed their transfer policy towards younger players, we're still the only mugs in town. We are going to wreck this club financially by having these older players on high wages.
Brighton will want £80m for Caciedo. They got £62m for a LB. CMs go for considerably more.
