I wonder how Casemiro is viewed when he leaves. He's a legend of the game, one of the most successful players of this generation and he was really good until his legs went. But he's probably had as many bad games as he had good games these last 18 months. He seemed to have taken to the club, though. Wasnt like he was a mercenary.

Should be remembered fondly as far as I'm concerned. Scored a winner in a final to end a 6 year trophy drought and seems a popular squad member who's behaved well throughout as far as I can see

I’ll never be able to shake the suspicion that he saw this as an easy pay day. Stuff like him peaking in the run up to the WC then his form falling off a cliff straight after. Also wasn’t surprised that he was the only player that did the same American jaunt that Rashford did.

Does seem like a good bloke though. I don’t dislike him. And would probably do the same in his shoes.

Hate these old signings we seemed to make every year until last summer. I hear Saudi is warm this time of year.

Is he now behind Collyer in the pecking order? He honestly wasn't too bad for us at the start of the season or next to Ugarte. If we need to rotate I would hope to see more of him.

He's clearly off this January, his omission from the squad yesterday was an admission of that. Don't want him to get injured before he jets out to Saudi Arabia.

EDIT* Lineup I saw online ahead of time didn't include him, but apparently was on the bench, but Collyer coming on before him now seems even more damning.

I thought Amorim would have used him even if sparingly, but he’s not getting any game time.

He mentioned him as an example of how a first XI is emerging, saying he prefers Ugarte to Casemiro. Then he subbed on Collyer instead of Casemiro. I think it's safe to assume he does not fancy him in the slightest.

Also as much as our form has been turbulent, Amorim is definitely looking at next season in terms of who he wants to give minutes to now. Case is at the end of his career and, though no fault of his own, is a player Ineos desperately want to sell/get his wages off the books. I expect Saudi want him for the name and status but they are not morons; he's only 32 so has a few years left at a reasonable level, they can likely get him for peanuts in the summer if they just wait a few months.

Ugarte can't play all the time so you'd think Casemiro will get minutes in some games. Unless he's to leave this month and we get a replacement which would be ideal.

I think it was pretty telling Collyer came on over Casemiro tbh.

Surely on his way out? A lot of You Tubers before he joined predicted Casemiro wouldn’t fit in with Ruben.

Definitely feel as though not giving him in a minute so far in 2025 is to try and help push him out the door.

Saudi links have predictably died down so looks like he is here at least until the summer… unless something drastically changes next week!

The Saudi rumours were nonsense, was never going to happen.

If makes sense to give Collyer a chance, I’m sure Casemiro will go in the summer but it’s going to be on really bad terms for us. With Eriksen leaving for free as well we probably can’t afford two new midfielders so we really need to see what Collyer can do.

Like Rashford, I feel he will move close to the deadline. His wages are so enormous it makes sense for a buyer to wait.

When he was linked in the summer with a move to Saudi there was talk that his agent asked for a payout from us (around 25m) for him to move. I won't be surprised if that is the hold up again.

Unused sub for the last 5 games, what exactly are we doing here. Does he really want to sit on the bench and just keep taking his money or what? The other question is whether the manager needs to make some sort of an effort to get him involved

Performances under ten Hag were diabolical. If he's showing the same form in training, I'm not surprised he's not been involved.

Obviously the club is trying to get him out, so I can only see him getting minutes again if he is still here after the window closes.

Same goes for Rashford.

I would guess there is no real reason to involve him when we have better options in his position right now and he is clearly not part of the future unlike Ugarte, Mainoo and Collyer. I am sure we would love to offload him but I am not really aware of any concrete interest unless his old mate Cristiano really can convince his club to sign him because he wants his mate with him.

Haven't even heard a rumour in the last 2 weeks so it seems like he will just chill on the bench

Could he play in a back three? Could give some of the Cbs a rest

Is he even linked to a move?

No. The only way to get rid of him now is likely to be a free transfer to Saudi which is the only place that is even remotely getting near matching his wages and is an exhibition league/retirement payday.

No European club will pay any money for him and no one in Europe is paying him the equivalent of £350k a week when he’s a spent force.

Its increasingly likely we are stuck with him until July 2026, Saudi would have had him by now if truly interested I think

If he remains on the bench till summer I think he'll opt to leave and end his contract mutually, something similar to what we did with Sanchez who was earning a lot more, probably a reasonable payout and Cas will go on to play anywhere he wants, maybe even Saudi.

Fecking hell  are we sure the members of the previous management team weren't fans of rival clubs and hell bent on sabotaging us??

Just some wishful thinking about a move to the sandpit. If not, what's to stop him sticking around and picking up his salary? professional pride? He's won all the game has to offer so he can sit on his laurels. Another stroke of Glazer genius.

For someone who is a serial winner and came with a huge reputation, one would think he'd have more pride then to simply accept sitting on the bench and collecting paychecks. I don't know why he hasn't found himself a club in Saudi or the US yet. It has been clear for a while that he doesn't have the legs anymore to play in the premier league. Needs to accept his fate and try to find himself a club. Just sitting around for a payout doesn't suit him.

Not sure. His fee was reportedly £60m plus up to £10m in add ons.

His wages are a reported 350k a week on a 4 year contract which holds a value of £72.8m.

Just dont even want to think about it really

Is he still here?
We will end up using him as one of the cones in training and that will be his best contribution to the squad.

Sad to see one more player with huge wages sitting on the bench and not being able to sell due to high wages..... We should really start focusing on the wage structure in the club whatever and whoever it takes. We have had this issue for too many years now and without any form of success. Could be impossible to sell him with his wages, maybe a loan where we cover most salaries so he gets out and play and hopefully makes it easier for us to sell him in summer with one year left of his contract. If he is just to sit on the bench for next 6 months it does not help us selling him in summer...

January is not the best time for players to move.

Whilst it is clear his time is up, and he will know this as well. There’s sense from the players’ perspective to wait until the summer.

Better to forgo a few months in the wilderness and get a good move in the summer than accept going to a club that’s really not suitable now.

You have to wonder what the plan was from the Glazers, Woodward, Murtough, Arnold etc. What exactly where they going to do once PSR came down on them for losing £300m a year? Was this why they wanted the Super League so badly? To cover their mistakes?

It's largely on Ten Hag for pursuing Frenkie all summer who didn't want to come here, leading the board to make a panic buy when they realized they had no chance.

Considering they are his superiors why the feck weren't they putting him in his place and telling him to move on earlier.
