Not the first thing I read about someone saying how much Casemiro is loving it in the Prem. The intensity, competitiveness... He was born for the league IMO.

Completely agree. Without question he’s transformed the whole side. I love the way he throws himself into tackles, it’s a bit of a throw back, or at least different to what we’ve had in midfield for years.

Plus Imagine being De Gea and you’ve gone from playing with Maguire and lindelof regularly, to Varane, Martinez and Casemiro in front of you.

Huh. Maybe not quite the panic buy we all thought.

casemiro himself said they’d been doing the deal for ages in the background.

I think it was pretty obvious early on FDJ said no, so we moved on to case pretty quickly.

Of course though the way the press + twitter ITKs go on, you’d think the deal was made in 2 days and we chased frenkie until the last day of the window.

I think we wanted both, and Eriksen was the back up.

Casemiro and De Jong double pivot would have been such an insane upgrade on McFred  be like a dream. Delighted with the pair we now have though.

Nice that we have some light on the Casemiro signing and finding it out it isn't a panic buy puts some good light on Murtough.

it really would have been. perhaps it’s still possible? I think FDJ will change his mind once he stops being stubborn.

The club aren’t as clueless as the press and certain twitter accounts like to make out. United are just such a big draw in terms of social media, any news especially negative has opposition and our own fans salivating.

It’s just nice we finally have a manager that realises it’s midfield that wins you matches, not just strikers

Eriksen was on a free, we were getting him regardless.

My suspicion is the Antony money was earmarked for De Jong, hence the late bid, even though we were also working on that. Had the FdJ deal gone through, a cheaper alternative like Gakpo would’ve been bought instead of Antony.

Eriksen was signed pretty late, I think we were waiting to see what happened. Lets not forget there isn't an infinite amount of squad space either.

Anyway, happy with how it's turned out so far. Eriksen might not be as good as FDJ but at least he's happy here. FDJ might have sulked and flopped hard.

Him and Varane feel like the first guys we have signed who grew up with a great United and came here with the aim to take us back to those levels as their last big club run. Maybe Herrera as well to be fair.

Probably my MOTM today. Wasn’t great or anything, he just did alright considering he was playing by himself in midfield

He was abandoned in midfield today. Van De Beek was invisible and Eriksen just isn't up to it defensively.

Hard to say a player is good when we lost like that but by any definition that was a good game by Casemiro. One man midfield, did his defensive duties and then some, played an excellent ball for Dalot, constantly moved the ball and was always in the half positions to give us a outlet.

Honestly it baffles me to this day people think he's just some water carrier with no ability on the ball.

Very good considering how poor we were generally. Did his job well at winning the ball and showed a good passing range.

He needs at least one midfielder who can run with and without the ball around him.

Played absolutely best football in decade with him and Fred in midfield against Tottenham and the bald manager decides to put his man Donny in instead. Really feel sad for Casemiro, He's just class and shouldn't even be as dominant on the ball as for us but he's got cowards or grandpas with no legs around him.

World class player, but he can't cover the entire midfield and attack on his own. He's getting no help at all.

Yes we needed two CM this summer gone, and Eriksen wasnt the answer for the second, more a squad back up and challenger to Fernandes. Begind a Cf, a box to box midfielder of quality is maybe the biggest priority for me in the summer

He played well and his performance I feel would've been even better if the performance levels of the rest of the midfield had matched the energy levels of the Villa midfield.

Eriksen is a good player and I can fully understand why ten Hag is persevering with him in a midfield role. But I feel we're lacking a midfielder who not only has the craft and guile on the ball to progress play in the defensive and middle thirds, but also has the running power to match a midfield like the one we encountered today at Villa Park.

He really is class. I think united / Eth did well to integrate him into the team.

I do hope we don't drag down his performances over time though like we seem to do with quite a few players

Was almost outstanding today, but was smothered in shite. It took him about 180 minutes or so get there, but he’s fully got the hang of the prem…looks nailed on for the PL team of the year if he maintains this form.

He had a tackle in the first half that deserves an end of season award. It was better than any goal we'll score this year.
