With in-form Casemiro in the midfield, I’m not very concerned with Varane being out till the WC. I bet Lindelof and even Maguire will look decent with Casemiro screening and good pressing structure in front of them. Hopefully, no more vanishing acts from midfield with Casemiro there esp in defending transitions which has been the bane for our defense for a bit.
Yes I agree. Sorting CM (especially the defensive element) was key, absolutely fundamental, to getting the rest of the team functioning. Any defence looks so much better with a positionally intelligent DM in front. And this fella is just pure class.

So good to know we now have a specialist DM. Someone who can pass a ball… I feel more confident in not conceding every game now that we have someone to protect the defence.

I saw that going through his previous post and I was shocked that he actually wanted Arthur here over Casemiro
How could he want Artur over casemiro?

It’s obvious even Liverpool didn’t want Artur but had to accept because beggars couldn’t be choosers!

I hope we see more of his defensive line shielding ability in these next few games with Varane out. Martinez and probably Lindelof will need it as they haven’t really played together that much.

Trust me, I was surprised myself. He said we should have gone for him, now I know not to take his opinions seriously.

From discussions from him before he rates press resistance and being agile over anything else.

Anybody who can't twist on a dime or carry the ball aren't worth anything to him. I guess he just knows what he likes and doesn't.

Unfortunately that usually makes his judgement on some not worth listening too.

This video highlight his passing. Not only does he have a pass but it's the quickness at which he makes his passes which help us get on the attack. His ability to bring the ball out from the back and feed it to attacking midfielders is sublime. He's only played a few games for us yet he already has a video of his passes highlights that looks like it's a whole season.

A lot of people have been taken by surprise with his passing. People were bummed we didn't get FDJ because we'd lack his ability to bring the ball out but Casemiro does that and he can protect the back 4 at a world class level.

De Jong’s press evasion is the best in the world at CM, and would add a different dimension. Almost all posters, even in the De Jong pursuit, raised the concern of who he would be partnered with if he joined. Almost all wanted a player like Casemiro alongside him, and felt De Jong alone wouldn’t be enough.

If we are able to unite them next year, we’d be complete in midfield. Casemiro is fantastic of course, but I don’t see them as direct competition really.

That’s exactly right.

I hope we do that, it would be unbelievable upgrade from McT-Fred to De Jong Casemiro.

Like you said, De Jong and Casemiro won't be competing for same position, they can play together easily.

I know we all had the same issue. However; I feel we needed to get the CDM who can protect first over a De Jong.

I wanted De Jong as much as the next poster but if Casemiro is available, he was imo the right choice considering we were not signing both.

For me the most impressive part of his game is how quickly he releases the ball and more often that not makes the right decision, his composure is so good. He really transformed our side into better possession team.

Watching Casemeiro and Eriksen play together always felt warmly familiar until it hit me - they remind me so much of watching Scholes and Carrick play.

Casemiro and FDJ would be an amazing combo. Eriksen and Bruno can rotate in number 10 position. Would be a dream.

It would be sensational. It would have the ability to defend, control, create and score. It would also have the intangibility x-factor of De Jong able to just run through a team.

Not surprised with his passing ability at all when he plays for us. I watched what he can actually do on the ball in Brazil Copa America 2021 and he showed that he was very good on the ball. He was my unrealistic DM transfer last year.

I still can't believe we've got him. Absolute best in the world in his position.

He's different gravy. Probably our best player and one of the best in the league. I knew he was a great DM and was delighted with the signing but his technical ability far surpasses anything I thought he was capable of.

It was never FDJ or Casemiro. They do 2 different things.

Not comparing him to Scholes but he has that same ability in which he constantly knows where his team mates are, so when he receives the ball, he can instantly pass it without needing to stop and take a look.

It's weird seeing a midfielder not take 4/5 touches, nearly over run it into the opposition and foul them turning the ball over.

One and two touch. His appreciation of what’s around him is fantastic, Scholes-esque

Average Joe in the eyes of Sourness

I didn't know how good a player he is until I see him play for us week in week out. Complete of a midfielder this man is. We don't get such a player of this quality from Madrid in his prime and we have him now

Souness is a clown. Listening to him giving that take I immediately knew he hadn't watched much of Real Madrid and was just parroting some asinine misconception about Casemiro in that he's unable to play proper football and just lay the ball to Modric and Kroos to do their thing. There was this pervasive narrative about Casemiro in the sense that he's just a destroyer, hustles around, tackles and that's his game.

Ironically Casemiro isn't even the hustler type as in runs around nonstop like a Fred or even McTomminay, he doesn't have to because he's positionally incredible and always know where to be and how to cut passing lanes, preventing often dangerous passes or plays. With him on the side we hardly concede dangerous situations let alone dangerous shots on goals.

The speed at which he moves the ball with his first time passes help us catch opponents in dangerous situations because his early passing doesn't give them time to reorganize and get behind the ball. Not only does he provide security defensively, he also helps our offense by quickening our play.

It's been mentioned already, but the fact that he plays things 1. forward, and 2. with a maximum of 2 touches most of the time, helps us massively in midfield. No pondering, he wins the football and moves it forward.

I thought it was because they signed Tchouameni for a fortune andhe would get game time of course. But Casemiro said on an interview he made the decision to leave before the Champions League final. So i assume he just wanted to try it in the Premier League while he still good.

100% great post

Fantastic player, we look like a completely different team compared to last season with him and Eriksen in midfield. We are finally controlling games

Different type of player but they are similar in terms of legacy.

Anyways, thought he was MOTM for his 45 minutes tonight. Just effortlessly spraying balls with ease and tackling everything. So enjoyable to watch. Also didn't give a feck about the bloodied face, just got on with it.

Good as always, the only semi major issue that I cold point out is the sudden stray pass that he has in himself from time to time but it's counter balanced by literally every thing else that he offers so I guess we just have to get used to that.

One of the first names on the team sheet for me.

Killed off some of Sheriff's attacks quickly high up the pitch and played simple forward passes. Exactly what you want from a quality DM.

10000% the last line every time.

The sort of player we’ve been crying out for for so long

He's one of my favourite players. I smiled like an absolute tw*t every time he was shown on screen. Thinking of leaving the wife for him.

I was going through the same thing  my partner asked me if I was leaving her for him.
