Callum McManaman

You get these perverse decisions when the organisation has no clarity of purpose and those in charge do not want to take responsibility for a decision so hide behind rules.

Marcus cicero put it best "when there are too many laws, there is not enough justice"

Weasel bags get into power and their sole aim is to remain there.

Mark Halsey dropped from Premier League over Callum McManaman
• Referee missed Wigan player's tackle on Massadio Haïdara
• Newcastle incensed after McManaman escaped punishment

So Mark Halsey gets dropped because his view was blocked, no word on what sort of sanction the other official (the one who actually claims he saw it but didn't deem it serious enough) will get and McManaman can go on assaulting other players' legs to his heart's content.

I'm confused. The FA take this stance where they refuse to overturn horrendous decisions because that would harm the officials' integrity but then go on to punish an official anyway, and the wrong one at that. Meanwhile the actual act still remains unpunished.

Is there any limit to the FA's incompetence and inconsistency? Don't bother answering.

 Unbelievable! How the feck can these FA jokers dare show their faces.

He's a good player.

This was my only input into this thread while the discussion raged about his 'tackle'. Having watched him a few more times since, this view has been further enhanced since then. Potential international player I'd say - great natural ability, moves very well with the ball at high speed and I think his finishing will improve further and make him a very good player.

It was a horrible tackle, but i hope that does not stay to haunt his name forever.

He seems a decent young player with great technique - seems almost spanish in a sense, a type of player England really lack.

Its a shame he didn't get punished because it wont ever be put to bed now. Hopefully it does not effect his future career.

Yea I agree with that. Also, the reaction to his next bad challenge will be interesting too.

Wigan are definitely an asset to the league though, and I'd rather they stayed up. Stoke can feck off though. Wigan give a lot of promising young players a chance to play football in a system that is good for them. I'd like to see McManaman get a full season in their firt team next year, preferably in the Prem.

Aye it's not just the tackle that annoyed me it was the fact he'd also done it before at U21 level, it's going to take some time before he gets rid of the 'cnut tag' in my opinion. Potential wise he looks decent, he can dribble and as got a few goals so far he will be a big player for Wigan and their chances of staying up.

What an eventful last six months for this lad. Unfortunately, people will (rightfully) associate him with that tackle on Haidara, but his football has been sensational since January. He's going to be in demand whatever happens to Wigan this month.

Very exciting player. Looks like a right talent. Surprised that he's 22 years of age. Seems to have come from nowhere.

Shown more today than our wingers have all season. That's genuinely sad.

To quote myself again - this player has star quality. Since the first time I saw him play, I knew he was special. Has an arrogance about him and great natural ability. Will be in the Premier League next year whether Wigan are or not.

Ran City's back line ragged all game.

Everton, David Moyes, released him when he was 16 years young.

More likely to be the youth coaches, apparently Fergie wasn't a big fan of Scholes until convinced by Harrison.

Can't remember the last time I've seen such a quality individual performance.

Hope he sticks with Wigan if they do go down, he owes that to the club

People laughed at me when I suggested Valencia wouldnt get in the Wigan team ahead of this lad or Maloney...I now rest my case.

Absolutely fantastic performance from him. MOTM in the FA cup final, playing for the rank outsiders. All at the age of 22. Magic.

He's decent but fecking Mancini didnt tactically adjust to either cut his supply or double up on him. One on one with Clichy, he had a free run each time he got the ball.

I still think that's a ridiculous statement.

Great performance today though. Big, big future.

He's been better than Valencia this season.

I don't think that he is that good. Talk about knee jerking. Did he have any end product today, in terms of chances created or good shots on target? He definitely tries too much. There was also a piece of action where he did this really nice piece of chest control passed the ball, then he stopped playing for a few seconds admiring his work. I can't see him being good enough for a top 4 side.

Who hasn't?

Well he's shown atout at least as much as Wilfried Zaha for example, and he's been raved about all season. He's young and in his first year in the team. He's shown enough raw ingredients to grow into a real player I think.

It's true - he might never learn. But to ask him to learn in a team that seldom had anyone in a position for him to pass to might be asking too much. Maybe he's too old and set in his ways, one eye catching performance every now and again and one crap tackle every year.

On the other hand - if a top 4 club took a gamble on him, they might get lucky.

Brilliant today. Made City look average. No. Made City look Poor. Moysie Moysie sign him up.

Personally, and I was dead against the Zaha signing, but I think that Wilfried has more upside than Mcmanaman.

I've been impressed with him the last few times I've seen Wigan and today he took his game up another couple of notches. Obviously he still has weaknesses that most players his age have but he looks a real prospect, comfortable cutting in or going down the line and has even scored a few goals.
