Bundesliga 2018/19

Really nice game and a deserved win for Dortmund after a balanced first half. Sancho is just a wizard with the ball. If he kept this level he could become "the next big thing".

Thank feck Kramers joke of a goal did not decide anything in this game. I might have broken something otherwise.

Overall great finish of an astounding season half, 42 points and only a single loss in the league is simply fantastic.

There are several players who stood out in a in general strong team. Bürki basically played a perfect round, free of major errors and tons of strong saves, Witsel performed on a level of consistency that is simply ridiculous, Alcacer with his crazy quota in trems of goals and of course everyone rightfully is full of praise about Sancho.

And yet one player still outshined them a bit and cemented himself as the teams super star and as of now leagues best player, eventhough he lacks the ego many players with this standing have.

Marco Reus´ season so far is exceptional on multiple levels. He started every single league games, playing over the full distance in all but two games. His stats already impress (11 goals, 7 assists), but don´t even fully do justice to show his contributions to our game. He influences basically every attack, the number of pre assists alone should be in the double digits by now. On top of that, the player you would get a heart attack every time he clashes with an opponent suddenly developed the defensive awareness and skills that would put many defensive midfielders to shame. You could fill a lengthy highlight video with his interceptions and tackles alone.

I already wrote a couple of times about the way he fills out his role as captain and leader of the team. He suprised basically everyone with how well he took that role. By now I would not be surprised if in a couple years supporters would put him in the same tier as Sebastian Kehl (captain during the vast majority of the Klopp era and probably the second best captain we ever had) in terms of greatness as captain.

Where is RW2? There must have been some wrong referee decisions, bad treated Frankfurt players and mean Bayern players...

Strange timing to sack Herrlich. They've won against Schalke and Berlin in last 4 days, two teams they'll be around in the table in May.

They have Gladbach, Munich and Dortmund in their six games after winter break so watch Bosz not win any of them and all the momentum disappear.

Recent results were decent, but it didn't seem like Herrlich was getting them anywhere. I think it makes a lot of sense to appoint Bosz. He's kind of a high risk/high reward appointment, who should be a very good fit for the squad imho, and with how the first half of the season went top 4 is gone, top 6/7 seems doubtful (under Herrlich at least) and relegation seems out of the question even if Bosz should fail.
I like this appointment a lot, since it shows has ambitious goals with this team and is willing to take a risk to reach them.

We'll see, they are only 3 points off 5th now so I just wonder about timing. Had to play catch up after losing their first three games this season and seemed to me to be improving recently.

Who is the Wolfsburg manager btw? After their struggles last two seasons they could only be 3 points off Leipzig if they win today so excellent performance considering how dead the club seemed to become after the Rodriguez-KDB-Bas Dost team broke up.

Bruno Labbadia. He already managed Leverkusen, Hamburg and Stuttgart. Imo he is quite solid and a bit underrated because in the past he managed clubs, that were often a bit of a circus. Hamburg ended up worse off without him. His time in Stuttgart was a mixed bag, but they crashed and burned afterwards (+relegation), so I don't think that was only his fault. When he took over Wolfsburg, they were in trouble as well and he seem to have steadied the ship. Wolfsburg was/is a bit like WestHam in the sense, that they tend to buy overrated/hyped player and end up with a squad full of mercenaries, who are not bothered to turn up.
Instead of putting as many of those players into the team, he seems to use players, who are willing to play for the team. Wolfsburg had bad luck with injuries. Both Guilavogui and Camacho - their two best DMs - were/are out for extend periods. I wouldn't expect any wonders, but they improved and Labbadia plays an important role in this.

Exciting 2nd half between Wolfsburg and Augsburg

Wolfsburg went into the half leading 2-0 Its now 2-2

Yeah I know Bruno. Had decent spell at Stuttgart until he hit a poor run. Then kept Hamburg up in one of their miraculous escapes.

Wolfsburg did win at the end so up to 5th and overall he's done a very good job there, given them an identity again.

That's not counting your youth players though. I assume Bayern have a few bubbling under the surface.

Well, if it wasn't for Ribery and Robben not acknowledging that they should by all rights stop being so damn good, those talents may have gotten their chances by now. Those two are ridiculous. I'd like to see them go because they're old farts, but I'm afraid at the loss of quality when they're gone. Makes no sense. :P

Reus deserves a major title with Dortmund

I hope he wins the league and UCL :) Love him as a player and leader of Dortmund.

@Sphaero description is apt about Reus. Everyone goes on about Sancho, rightfully, but Reus is the heart and soul of the team. Also correct about Burki, he's done really well this season although I think he has had one or two goals he could've done better with. Still, definitely one of the best this season in the BL and Europe. I don't anyone would've predicted that after the last two seasons :D

if they were good enough for the Bundesliga already, they'd be in the squad. (a few got matches or at least made the bench, to be fair). BM II has been idling in the fourth league for far too long, which is a league lower than they should, making it hard to attract talent, or to keep it. Also, to be frank, youth development has been sub-par ever since LvG left. I have long defended the club in that matter, but i'm beginning to see a pattern.
U17 Coach Schweinsteiger (the brother of who know who) who many had hoped he would move up to coach the BM II team, a prodigy at the football school, full marks at the final exam, a feat only a by a certain Mr. Tuchel in the bast few decades) and revered by anyone who ever worked with him, was let go finally this week :p

Doesn't really deserve its own thread so might as well put it here. Ribery seems to have had a bit of a meltdown on twitter:

@kouroux @JPRouve @Ecstatic my French is not as good as it used to be but it seems that Ribery is telling people that they were born out of broken condom and that he's fecking their mums, grandmums and whole family trees. Then he's giving one to the journos.

Is he really getting so much shit in French media?

On that occasion not really, papers reported the Bild article without adding much. Pulvar made a tweet where she said that if he doesn't know what to do with his money he can donate it to charities and that's about it. The comments on his tweet were a lot more severe.

Edit: His response will get them on his back though.

I'm bored so here is the translation
"For 2019, let's do our "i"s and cross our "t"s, let's start with the envious, haters who are born out of broken condom. feck your mums, your grannies and your entire family tree. I owe you nothing, my success comes from God's grace, from me and my relatives who believed in me. All of you others are stones in my socks".
Colorful language indeed

Oh many, happy new year to him too I guess.

He is well-known in France for his style of play on and off the pitch :D

In 2019, nobody here is interested in him who played his last game for France in 2014.

In the post, you can read: N*QUEZ VOS MERES --- speaking to several players

In the video below you can hear him in 2006 or 2007 saying a fan NIQUE TA MERE DIRECT: meaning feck YOUR MOTHER - DIRECTLY

Legend on and off the pitch

I don't know why this still surprises me, but a Bayern spokesperson stated that while they don't endorse Ribery's choice of words this was a private matter.

How long has it been since their painful presser about the dignity of man and respect?

Amazing, it's like he took the 'your mum's a whore' trolling from the internet into the real life.

It's not an internet thing, it was very popular in schoolyards when I was a kid. Ribéry is childish and a cry baby.

Let´s see what he will be doing after his career. Bayern has a philosophy of putting ex-players in club-positions. Hoeneß, Rummenigge, Breitner, Salihamidzic, Klose, Butt ... . Rummenigge said recently, he wants Xabi Alonso to join Bayern in some Position (probably trainer) someday. They also want to talk to O. Kahn in the next months (sporting director?). Lahm had talks with the club, but it didn´t worked out. He is now with the DFB for ne next couple of years. Ribery said, he likes to be around with youth players and guide them. Maybe the will find a position for him like "Technical Trainer" for the under 17 squad or so.

That presser was an absolute highlight in bigotry and a sign how much a change in club leadership is needed which was understood by anyone but two persons. Unfortunately, these 2 are Hoeneß and Rummenigge...

About that Ribery affair, he is a gutter kid and uses gutter language, but, as opposed to all the faggots faking dismay because he ate a fancy steak, he is authentic.

An authentic asshole. There are only few active footballer who have a worse character.

Whilst I don't like him (for other worse reasons) there are plenty of footballers and other types faking dismay at him eating that steak, some of them probably had it before him.

I don't mind the steak at all and he has a point in this case. It was a general statement. The smallest slight is enough and he goes nuts and loses control. At the same time he is constantly dishing out. It's a horrible combination.
