Bundesliga 2018/19

No worries, I did not take any offense here. Akanji might be the only key player of ours where a transfer would be unlikely but possible (the others are either too old, too loyal or have no reason to leave next Summer), but the reason for the missing links to him is probably that we shut down any kind of interest rigt at the start.
Yeah he definitely seems almost an impossible transfer, when you have a player like Akanji you do everything in your power to keep him. Hypothetically, if Dortmund did decide to sell you could easily demand a world record fee, he's an outstanding player and within the next 2/3 seasons I think he'll be widely considered as one of the best defenders in the world.

This game is probably a treat to watch for any neutral, but for what might have been our best first half of the season, asingle goal lead is a little too thin for my taste.

That was never your best half in the season.
Of course some good fast counters, but two so easy goals for you because of individual mistakes.

With better CB's it could be an equal game in this first half. But Langkamp and Moisander isn't good enough for this offensive.

I fully expect him to become our first genuine world class CB since Hummels. He does not have the crazy accuracy in long passing that Hummels in his prime had, but makes up for it with superior pace. He is incredibly complete as a defender, especially for his age. I expect that Zorc is already working on a contract extension with him including a hefty pay rise, bringing him in the same wage tier as Witsel just below Reus.

Overall? No. In terms of first halfs? Name a better one. We nearly always improve in the second half. We consistently start fairly slow into games under Favre.

Sorry, i haven't all Dortmunds halfs in my head :D
I just think that this first half wasn't that fantastic and can't belive that it was the best from Dortmund.

Really fun game to watch. Bremen didn't hide, pressurized Dortmund, and had their opportunities. But Dortmund had more of them and were immensely dangerous throughout the game. It's especially good to see how well Alcacer does in transition far from the box. Not only an excellent finisher, but a proper allround partner for Reus.

Awful news that Getner's father died after watching his son play for Stuttgart yesterday at the ground.

Poulsen with another two goals already today. Seems like it's a very good season for Bundesliga strikers.

Hope Frankfurt beat Bayer today, this would probably help me take first spot in my FF league :D

Eintracht-Leverkusen match was a superb match to watch with great football from both teams.

A complete change of tactics from Adi Hutter as he has obviously recognised that Eintracht had become predictable after the 10 victories from 11 run. Placing Jovic on the bench was a brave but correct move as Gacinovic returned to the starting line up.

Yet another assist from Sebastian Haller - no player in the Bundesliga has been involved in so many goals (scored 9, 8 assists).

Not so great from us though. The ridiculous amount of quality has rescued Herrlich his job multiple times by now. I think I've never seen such an underperforming Leverkusen side. You could make excuses for Dutt, Hyypiä, even Schmidt in his final year but Herrlich forces highly talented players like Brandt or Bailey to stupidly cross the ball in the middle permanently. Hard time to be a Bayer fan.

What do you think of Poulsen? I really liked him at the World Cup, seems to be comfortable with being physical and working hard, and I reckon there's enough quality in him to make the step up.

Whats with all the Bosz talk to replace Herrlich? Surely there are better alternatives... I am not sure i would touch him after his Dortmund stint

I like him a lot. He's physical side is great, he's very tall, but with a good balance of strength and speed/agility for his size. He's good on the ball and does a lot of work for Werner. His goal scoring record always seemed woeful for a striker, but it looks like he's turned that around this season. If he can keep it up he's going to be a very good striker.

Back then Dortmund supposedly snapped him up before they could and Herrlich was only a backup to him, Favre, Tuchel. So from that angle it would be very logical to have them come back for him. Kicker is reporting it, so there most likely is some truth to it.
Leverkusen's squad should be a decent fit for his style and as I've pointed out in another thread I think the Dortmund job was a poisoned chalice when he took over.
CL football is gone anyway and a plastic club like Leverkusen can't be too picky. I think it would be a brave decision to appoint him, but not a stupid one.

It's okay, you still have City and Barca to cheer for:p

The most important news hasn't been mentioned at all by the looks of it:

DIE MANNSCHAFT stays! @do.ob

Bierhoff has all the features of a cold-hearted politician

First step: Mess up the world cup preparations through incompetence (24/7), arrogance (Watutinki) and corrupt deals (SAP sponsorship event just 1 day before the Mexico match)

Second step: Talk down the public outrage over DIE MANNSCHAFT by putting the claim on a "Prüfstand" (test bench)

Third step: Sit out the crisis and wait until everything has cooled down, then announce that DIE MANNSCHAFT is actually great because it is supposedly loved by Women and young people:lol:

I think that whole outrage about "DIE MANNSCHAFT" is silly anyway. It's clearly meant for foreigners and "event fans" and I don't think "DIE MANNSCHAFT" is bad for that purpose. Regular fans should get over "DIE MANNSCHAFT", the biggest part of their problem is not what "DIE MANNSCHAFT" actually is, but what they project into it.

Jardim or Marco Rose

Jardim or Marco Rose

Don't think Jardim would go to a Leverkusen, would be a step down for him. For Marco Rose I think he'll be in demand in the summer, maybe he'll wait if a bigger club comes in though it would be great to see him at Leverkusen.

I'd take Bosz in a heartbeat. Surely he can't get less out of that squad. We can't get bigger names anyway, I'm not even sure we can get Bosz. He was out of reach when Dortmund signed him, we can only hope he's willing to take a step back from that level.

However, I'd like us to try something crazy. Rose, Zorniger, Arteta or someone like that.

You forgot PSG and Chelsea. Not the same though :(

I would take Rose if i was Leverkusen. What he does with Salzburg is impressive.

Bosz would take the job, he fecked up at Dortmund, i doubt he will get a better offer anytime soon. Maybe he learnt something from his last stint.

That would be our bet. Rose would be great but he won't sign in the winter window. If we can secure him now for the coming season I'd be willing to have an interim manager until then since the current season is done anyway. He could be the longterm solution we are looking for. If not it would be better to give Bosz the chance.

However, I have the feeling that we'll get rid of Herrlich directly after the winter break and then appoint someone who's randomly on the market again like Korkut last year who then shall turn it around without even having a pre-season to implement his concepts.

Dortmund go 1-0 down to Dusseldorf who counter attacked superbly. Dortmund had a goal ruled out for offside.

It is the season of good will and plenty of good will has been shown to Tedesco at Schalke and Herrlich. . . . A bit too much for you I'd say. I completely agree. A squad consisting of Brandt, Volland, Ballerabi et al should not have failed to win 10 of their 15 Bundesliga matches so far this season.

Tomorrow Schalke v Leverkusen. . . . At least they can't both lose.

Crazy scores right now, Augsburg first up against Hertha, now the game has already turned; Düsseldorf leading Dortmund :D

Augsburg equalize again, what a match

That's one of the misses of the season from Usami

What a hit from the Dusseldorf player, 2-0 so more hope for Bayern.

Favre not starting Sancho or Paco is a bit of an odd one.

What a goal to make it 2-0, goal of the season contender.

That play from Sancho. What a well worked goal that was!

Ooof, game on! That was fantastic by Sancho.

Sancho

so good this lad. By far best english young player i've seen since Rooney.
