Bundesliga 2017/18

Leverkusen is absolutely destroying Dortmund at the moment. They are lucky it's still only 1-0

Kinda of a pointless argument to claim Barca, Bayern, and Real don't have sugar daddies when those clubs already have such massive advantages over rival clubs that a sugar daddy isn't required. The rest of the talk about 50+1 and German examples is pretty good though.

Leverkusen down to 10, after umpire uses VAR to turn a yellow into a straight red. It´s not a bad decision, but I´m not sure yellow was clearly wrong, which is the definition of VAR interference and change of decision. Also Sahin did the same thing seconds early and that was not overturned.

Dortmund are a shadow of their former self.

Pulisic would be wise to get the feck out of there and come to his favoured club and league

If Bayern wins and everything else stays the same, Dortmund would be further away from 1st place than relegation. Pretty impressive. :wenger:

Wendell tried to block the cross with a sliding tackle which ended up on Castros ankle. Castro injured. ref went to VAR and showed the red card. correct decision in my view. But Leverkusen is the better team. will probably score another on the counter. You don´t need many players to overrun this dortmund defense.

the ref in the bayern game should be punted into the sun btw

Honestly, I´d fire Bosz, even if they end up winning the game. The only reason they were not blown out here was the stupid challenge by Wendell.

Tah was massive for Leverkusen. They really have a brilliant young core at Leverkusen. I heard it´s so good Bayern´s personal shopper is re-locating from Dortmund.

Veh is back  . I'll never understand why clubs constantly recycle the same coaches who have failed several times already. I truely wonder how someone like Veh sells himself during contract negotiations and how he explains his career so far. Especially at a time when more often than not really young coaches without much experience have done so well in comparable circumstances.

Well done, Cologne. That's one club that won't help to relegate Hamburg this season. Useless bunch :( .

/edit:
Just realised he's actually Schmadtke's replacement. That's even more stupid. Why would he be good as a director?

I guess they are desperate. They incomprehensibly fired Schmadtke, who did a great job over the years, for no good reason and needed a replacement. You obviously don't want to give the job to a rookie in the position they are in.
Anyway, the club has been a mess for decades and only for the last few years it seemed like they will become a properly managed football club again. May they rot in the lower leagues.

Best regards,

a Fortuna Düsseldorf supporter ;)

Mirko Sloma is a decent coach. Surprised he hasn't coached in the Bundesliga for a while. Got Schalke to 2nd, massively overachieved at Hanover and saved Hamburg in one of their near relegation seasons (I've lost count).

Bundesliga bottom half is just the same as pretty much every other major league, clubs in desperate relegation trouble will sign experienced coaches. They then keep the club up and it's difficult to sack them so you then waste much of the next season (Hamburg with Gidsol for example) then the process starts again.

Leno reminds me so much of Mingolet.

Had a great game tonight, amazing save by him from Insua.

Will be back to flapping crosses into his own net next week though.

Last week Wendell became a red for a horrible foul on Castro after VAR. Today Ascacibar with a nearly identical foul, VAR checked it and the ref gave only yellow.

Sometimes i don't understand it. One gets a three match ban (+1 possible) and the other only a yellow, with VAR..

Maybe the problem is Aytekin? The most recent Revierderby was also his, where Kehrer (twice even), Caligiuri, Aubameyang, Castro and possibly Sokratis all begged to be sent off, yet he left it at one.
More and more I get the impression that refs forget that it's their job to protect players from unfair opponents and think it's job well done when they manage to keep the game from devolving into a brawl.

Dont know, could be of course.
But the VAR watched the scene, for example they said it's a clear red card. No way Aytekin could give only a yellow then. Then the whole VAR thing would make no sense.

Aytekin not even watched the foul again on the monitor, there was a break anyway.

We're talking about the same ref, who did this let go by without second yellow:
after he saw a yellow for this
This isn't a problem of the VAR, it's a problem of refereeing culture in general, where you need open sole challenges to get a yellow card in the first 30 minutes, no matter how hard you try and where refs keep shying away from action/cards until the point where they feel they are slipping and then hand them out for the next best thing no matter how out of context to the rest of their line thus far it is.

Is Leon Bailey read to step up?

Getting linked to some big premier league clubs. Watched him tonight. He's got pace but all round game needs some work, occasion in the second half where he just mis kicked the ball completely.

Think his level is still Leverkusen or mid table premier league club who counter attack. If he signed for a Man. United or Chelsea he'd be another Memphis imo at this stage of his career.

Edit: Didn't realise how young he was. Thought he was 22-23. Just 20 so still loads of time to improve.

Yeah he needs to stay. He's not ready to step up further yet. He just stepped up into Bayer's starting lineup anyway, he is promising but needs to improve. Let's not forget that already at Bayer normally he should have the chance to play CL at some point.

After that challenge, the game developed into a brawl anyway.

If you want to know how corrupt & pro-Bayern Bundesliga referees are then just look at the sending off that Vidal avoided for a professional foul on Aymen Barkok today....6 minutes into the game as well.

Sure sure buddy. Let the hate flow through you.

Nothing to with hate.

I expect the match referee to enforce the rules.

If a player is the last man with support and is fouled on the edge of the opposition penalty area then I expect that offending player to be sent off.
Ten minutes later a yellow card for an Eintracht offence. . . in the centre circle.

Everyone knows this is why Bayern continuously fail in Europe. . . because their referees are not German.

Ironic that Vidal then scores

1-0 to Bayern
