Bruno is underrated thread

KDB, Odegaard, Foden, Palmer, Bruno G and Maddison (there are probably a few more I could name) are all better AMs than Bruno. At 30 he will just get worse, not better. His biggest problem is he is not quick and can't beat a defender overplaying him. All of the above have the ability to beat a man and keep ahead of the defender to create an opportunity. It's time to move on if we want to compete for big titles.

Have you watched Bruno Guimaraes this season? He's positionally closer to a 6 than a 10.

Maddison? Don't make me laugh. You can't rely on him to stay fit for 3 months.

Chances created is a terrible stat too
Huh? The problem with that stat is the objectiveness measured for what is considered a Stat but in general, assuming a chance is created, it's better than assists or even goals.

The players with the highest amount of chances created is the best attacker in every team.

When he is healthy he is better than Fernandes. Just a fact.

Respect the hustle of bumping this thread after he finds some form again after some diabolical months of playing.

Played well yesterday, but he's still nowhere near world class or the midfielder to take this team forward.

Can’t understand the dislike for Bruno on here popular with matchgoing fans plays with his heart on his sleeve easily uniteds best player post sir Alex also a main cog in a very good Portugal team

Why the hell would anyone want to play for Man United? Carry the team on your back yet again and a bunch of your own fans can't wait to unleash another wave of verbal diarrhoea in your direction.

Glad the matchgoers appreciate him.

He's carrying us alright, over the cliff edge.

What is with you and a couple of others defending Bruno the machine gun passer by referencing the idiot that's in charge of our first team.

They're both shite and need to go. One gave Bruno his new contract (or approved it, I forget exactly) and made him captain, the other has failed to deliver a trophy for us before real winners joined the team and got us over the line in a shitty cup.

Thank you for backing up my point.
Go join the Arteta army of delusional 'fans'. I'll be quite happy to live in the real world and not cry about some made-up bullshit.

Mate, the one case of VD was enough. I don't need you to continue.

He's a fantastic player - something about him seems to really get under the skin of people and theres a sort of self fulfilling thing now where every single missplaced pass is held up as some sort of evidence of how awful he is. He's probably the hardest worker in the team, and is also our most creative player. The idea that we can be a completely non functional team in almost every way, but the one guy who has hit a high level for several seasons running (with less consistency this year) is the problem, is just ridiculous. Fernandes at 10 in any sort of competent set up is lethal.

Is VD some acronym only known to the inner circle of the Arteta fanclub?

Firstly, I was referring to your terrible case of verbal diarrhoea, which we'd already been over. Secondly, I think you should look up the difference between an acronym and an abbreviation. Your education has gotta start somewhere, so why not there?

And thirdly, I don't know why you keep banging on about Arteta, but if it's because you've recently found three syllables you're comfortable with, then I'd like to offer you my congratulations. You'll get to double figures before you know it buddy.

This thread is a perfect example of what's wrong with our club. Our "best" players are polarising at best. Tell which other successful clubs have polarising best players? We need to rip the whole thing up and start over.

Half of the people on this forum are of simple mind, I wouldn't worry about it.

Considering Guimaraes is not an attacking midfielder I'm going to assume you're at least a little bit talking out of the side of your face.

He is the best player currently on our books. With that said and somewhat ironically I don't know that he particularly suits the way the game is player currently.

He is a little bit or a conundrum really. He is far better than someone like Mount but I wonder if we would be a better team with Mount in his position.

United fans online will argue over anything. 20 years of dominance followed by 10 years of mediocrity (and very few trophies) will do that to you.

We could have peak R9 playing for us right now and he would still be polarising on the caf.

I mean that's incredibly debatable, because as I stated before all "chances created" measures is the amount of passes a player makes that end in a shot. You could play 5 terrible passes to attackers that are clear through on goal but if they manage to control them and shoot that's a "chance created".

I much prefer "Big chances created" as it actually infers making a key pass to a player that should reasonably exepect to score (generally .3xg or above).

His problem will always be that he can't dribble for shit, and with how condensed spaces are in modern football with the extreme emphasis on pressing strucuture, it will always limit him and his team's potential because he plays a position that traditionally requires a level of extreme technical ability that he just doesn't really have. He made up for that when he first joined through running off the ball and being a very good finisher as well as creator, but his scoring ability has waned and while he was never a great athlete he's gotten a bit slower these days which just accentuates the issues he has on the ball. So you get stuck trying to shoehorn him into a position that he probably doesn't fit.

15-20 years ago it would probably have been a different story as football tended to be play more at the ends of the pitch rather than in the middle.

He cant dictate tempo. The moment someone press him, he shits his pants

Said it before. Say it again. He's played in one of the worst eras the club has experienced both on and off the pitch. He's stayed clear of injuries throughout his tenure. Is far and away our most consistent and allround talented footballer. Wears the club on his sleeve and still people slagging him off.

Never understood the hate. He is 1) NEVER injured and 2) one of the few of our spoiled millionaires who actually act like he cares, tries and give a feck. That alone makes him fine

In an extremely competitive field, this may be the worst opinion ever voiced on this website.
I can't decide what's more amusing: believing that Maddison is factually better than Bruno, or thinking that Bruno Guimaraes plays as an AM for Newcastle.

There's a legitimate argument to make whether he could be a part of anything other than a pure counter-attacking team but his goals/assists and appearances numbers are ridiculously consistent. He's hit at least 19 G+A in every season he's been here and is never injured. I wish the likes of Shaw, Martial, Rashford had that consistency every season.

Again, it's definitely a reasonable question to ask if we could win a title with this guy as our main creator but he's one of the few signings we've made in the post SAF era that's actually been performing at a level we hoped.

I’ve been quick to critique him this season, but he’s quality when you look at it. His performances for his national team show how good he is in the right formation. ETH doesn’t play a system that supports him, or hardly anyone, for them to flourish.
