Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

I would think if City were really interested they would have wrapped this up ages ago. Look at the Rodri signing which everyone knew was happening way before the summer. They seem so to plan transfers way in advance and are very organised.

Is there any reliable information on
A) Are we actually in for him?
B) How much do Sporting want?
C) How much have we offered?

This (and Maquire) are the deals that must go through and it shouldn't matter if Pogba stays or goes. Quibbling over 5/10m could make the difference between top 4 or a top 8 finish. If the board can't see this then we're fecked.
Well said and basically what I've been saying. Rather pay them few extra million to get the deals done quicker mate

The club will give us info when the deal happens, until then it's all mindless speculation.

How do you know we even want Fernandes? it could all be made up.

I don't read anything into any other media except SSN. They do seem to get news before anyone else. They also interview and hold press releases from all the managers. You would expect them to know more than you or I do.

Rodri had a reasonable release clause so that could complete that transfer whenever they wanted. Makes it easier.

I've given up on this one now, just can't see it ever happening.

Feck, I hope this is wrong would hate to see us lose lose out on this transfer due to that tight twat Woody.
I do hope the news in wrong.we have lost out because of wood ward over the last two seasons. All talk and no action,he could not buy a beer in pub

Yeah the likes of Lemina & Longstaff don't rely on Pogba leaving, however almost certain that Bruno & Savic do.

Exactly. We're not actually in a position to play hard ball. Woody can't expect Madrid to pay the maximum for Pogba (which I agree with) then expect Sporting to roll over and give us one of their best players especially when he has another 4 years of contract with them. Double standards.

Which is something we should aspire to be like.

But we are a million miles away from how City do their transfer business, or anything else for that matter.

If we are interested in a player, firstly, Sky News announce it, secondly, we mess around for months, and months, and months, and thirdly, the player usually goes elsewhere unless we pay silly money.

We are not the United of old. We have to get used to it now.

Lets hop we get Pogba out soon then before we leave it too late in the window to sign him mate.

That depends on Madrid. They may not have the cash. I think they need to shift 2/3 players before they can get to the 130-140m range.

I think it's best he leaves now though.

Savic + Fernandes in and Pogba out for 130m ish out would be ideal for me.

Just a tad of hyperbole there.

It's literally been weeks but with the anxiety that feels like months

Fair post. The part in bold is what annoys me when we p!ss ar$e about instead of getting things done quickly to integrate the players into the squad.

I realise we are not the United of old and I wish would stop fecking about. Hence why I made the previous comment.

Not paying Devil's Advocate but what club does do things 'quickly?' City? Yes but the benefit of being PL champions and Pep puts them in negotiating position that only Barca and RM can top

Don't know much about Savic have read some people rate him and one of my mates thinks he is good. I heard that Real have €500m to spend but I am beginning to think that that €500m will only be available if some of it comes from players.

Hope they have the cash without having to offload players, would like Casemiro to come this way. So we could need to wait for Real to sell their players to buy Pogba, who they might not not even be able to offload, so we could be sitting around waiting all summer for them to make a big which might not happen. In that case get Bruno in now.

You make a decent point but I'm just hoping that we can do things a but quicker a it's starting to irritate me now although there is still a bit off time left in the window. Would rather get signings in now to give them time to gel with the squad mate.

Player power these days!

We've fecked ourselves by poor performances year in year out and players know it. Getting ourselves onto the top table again is going to be a long process.

City don't do things quickly either.

Look how long it took them to announce Rodri.

Look how long it's taking them to do a deal for Cancelo.

Liverpool / Arsenal haven't done anything either - stop making out like it's just us.

Had a conversation a while ago with my father about unprecedented player power in the modern game. Totally agree with the part in bold. I realised that it was going to be a long slog to get back up to the top but I fear if the Glazers don't invest significant funds shrewdly, instead of wasting it like we have done the last few years, it is going to take a lot longer than I initially thought to get back up there.

Once we get some consistency on the manager front, it will be easier to scout and plan signings. We have completely changed our style of play and targeted different type of players for every manager hired since Ferguson.

... which to be honest is a criticism of the board as United should have a clear vision of how we want to play and hire managers that suits our style.

This transfer has a Sneijder feel about it! Drag on all summer with no happy ending!

We've been linked since May and supposedly scouting all year, the latter part sounding fairly normal to have scouts for Portuguese league, especially the big teams.

I know standard negotiation tactics are the longer you can drag it out the better the price you get, but then deals like Felix or previously Neymar can move the bar! Surely better to be decisive with a reasonable offer.

The board are completely at fault for this and that is the reason why we should have had a DoF in a long time ago to ensure that there is a smooth transition when new managers come in and a continuation in style. Not one manager coming in and preferring possession football and deciding I need to buy player "A,B,C,D and E" but sell Player "X, Y and Z" because they don't fit into the plans. Then a new manager comes in and wants to play counter attacking football and he decides he wants to sell a lot of players bought by the previous manager because they don't fit his style and he needs "X" amount of players and rinse and repeat. Hopefully after preseason by next season if Ole gets all the players he wants will see what type of football he wants to implement and build from there. But I hope do get a DoF/Commitee in soon to help Ole so Woody can concentrate on negotiating contracts and bringing in new sponsors.

I'm convinced this is a Nico Gaitan/Otamendi/Garay type of thing. In real life, not actually even interested, despite constant stories from Portugal.
