Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

I don't think it is insane figure at all considering Mings was sold for 26M and he probably would start in a club like Braga at best in Portugal and of course Felix went for "120M".

70M is very far for a player like Bruno in todays market.
70M is still huge money, especially to a portuguese club.

Let's be honest the Felix release clause is a 1 off, and it shouldn't be used as an indicator of how much a player should be valued.

I do think eventually Bruno will be sold for circa 50-70m eventually, but there isn't going to be many bidders out there willing to pay that IMO. I think that is why United are being patient to try and force Sporting into selling for less.

Trust me makes sense like I said I think Sporting should let him go at 60M but when you see a guy like Mings going for almost 30M nothing makes sense anymore.

I agree, but that's mainly the English bubble. Premier league clubs have crazy money now, so the figures all get inflated.

I think the deal will be harder to complete the longer it goes on. Doesn't the EPL window close August 8th this season?

If he's intricate to our plans (same as Maquire) stop quibbling over 5/10m and just pay the feckin money.
Woodward keeps boasting about our spending power so it's no wonder clubs want more. We've become more than a joke not for the players we've signed for extortionate money but more for the players we haven't signed because Woodward thinks he's cleverer than everyone else by playing hard ball over a few million.

Yes our window closes before the league starts.

I think we will see movement soon, it all depends on what happens with Pogba as if he has his heart set on going then we HAVE to replace him.

As you well know the rest of Europe see England as a gold mine so automatically add 20% on every transfer, we are just being patient to get a fair deal.

It's the weirdest transfer I have come across for a long time, and the sooner it happens or he goes somewhere else, the better.

You were pretty much correct with the clause. His release clause is 100M BUT there is a player clause put forward by his agent after he terminated his contract that is 35M if a team offers that or above and Sporting reject It they must pay the player 5M. This can only be activated once.

Sporting also have said they have no problem in improving his salary by a substantial margin if he happens to stay.
That clause expired last month, as I already said. The buyout clause is 100M€.

a) Bruno was playing at RCM for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League and had a solid campaign think he'd fit in well
b) We've spent over £60m on two players and recently made a huge bid for Maguire the money is there likely a matter of overpricing than lack of funds

Pogba wasn't in that midfield though. Pogba has a tendency to not track his runners, don't know if you have noticed.

Also Bruno is far more effective further forward like he plays for Sporting.

Just another case of square pegs and round holes. We don't have a single DM anywhere near good en
a) History has proven otherwise - Pogba does not require two defensive players next to him in midfield. That’s actually not my point though. You are certainly entitled to that opinion and the desire to see two secure players alongside him in midfield is understandable, but we have lost a player, in Herrera, who could be considered a first choice option in midfield, and Pogba has been stationed deeper for United often enough. So the idea of bringing in a no.10 to replace Herrera with Pogba moving into the deeper role really isn’t nonsensical at all, even if it’s not what you want to see.

b) Similarly, just because that’s your opinion doesn’t mean it’s ridiculous to think that United do, in fact, have that kind of money. Your opinion on this seems a bit baseless actually.

Come back to me in 4 weeks. I will be the one saying I told you so.

If he is a Pogba replacement why wouldn’t we just buy him first then sell Pogba?

For what it’s worth, if we are even after him, I do think we know Sporting need to sell and we know they don’t really want to have to give him the additional €5m.

Under the circumstances €40m is probably a fair price and we’ve probably told Ole we will bring him in but we’re not going to be ripped off.
Think it is because Woody is too tight to fork out the fee, in case we don't end up selling Pogba.

How so? Selling Pogba with only Bruno coming in, or Pogba staying with no midfield signing, wouldn’t necessarily confirm that he was only looked at as a Pogba replacement, or that we didn’t have the budget for it.

Are you of the opinion that Pogba has never played deeper? Or that Herrera wasn’t considered a starting eleven player?

Who is going to start in the two deepest midfield positions this coming season?

The board demanding straight up cash for Lukaku and Pogba is a little dangerous because that does not guarantee that the funds acquired would get channelised into our transfer budget. I almost feel getting a player into those deals might be a blessing in disguise.

He is starting the first pre season game of the season.

I think with the amount at which Pogba is being valued at and the expectation of straight cash makes Pogba transfer improbable. Bruno's transfer hangs in the balance based on when Pogba moves to Real. So this transfer could be scraped.

Think they’ve already said he won’t.

He is starting today.

I said so since the first page in this thread I do not see United getting Bruno unless pogba leaves. Does not make sense to me.

Well that is good news for you! It will probably mean you’re not budging on price, so he’ll probably end up staying!
I would love to get 1 more season out of him!

Ole and Phelan are trying to do the right things, but they need someone better than Woodward to negotiate transfers.
Maguire, and Fernandes deals should have been done by now.Pennypinching is no good at this time. Pay the money or move on to plan B.
Get rid of the players that don't want to be here, and bring in players that will play for the badge and not money.
Plenty of talk but no action from Woodward. He really needs to go.Move over to someone that can do the job.
The way the club is going we will never be in the top 4 again

Hopefully it's his parting gift for you guys and he comes to us after the game. But seriously i hope he stays with you lot if United aren't signing him. Or maybe it will happen next year
I would love for him to just give us 1 more season. If he did then the termination would be completely forgotten by most I reckon.

Seems really straight forward transfer to me... very little credible links that we have even bid. Clearly some interest but not enormous. Almost every headline coming from low tier or Portuguese journalists. Last contact was probably months ago. We might end up losing him late in summer but if we aren't that interested then seems like just paying 80m isn't an option

Sky reported Ole wants to sign him a week ago, but nothing since then.
