Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

I've always felt that this Bruno pursuit was a lot of hot air, but if there is some serious truth to the Dybala exchange deal, and I really believe that there could be, then I just don't see United signing both players.

The business of offloading Lukaku and bringing in a big name star player is probably more attractive to the club.
I don';t see the Dybala situation having any impact on our transfer dealings. Its a like for like replacement, no transfer fee and probably same wages. Fernandes is being brought in as a midfield reinforcement where we have lost Herrera and Fellaini in the past season.

I’m a bit concerned that we are recruiting somebody who is happy to be seen crying on a football pitch after a pre-season friendly. I think we need more warrior types for the challenge ahead.

(Other than that all I know about the guy is from the you tube compilations so basically nothing. Hopefully he is a good player)

For practically no money.

I have very little faith in the ownership and do genuinely believe that net transfer budget is close to that $100m number they had put out. If Maguire goes through then we've used up that money. In which case, the following is most likely:
1. Dybala a swap with a little bit of cash on top
2. Bruno only happening if Pogba is sold
3. We actually manage to offload Rojo or Jones

:wenger: You know nothing about a footballer's footballing abilities but claim (from having seen one 5 second clip) that you know his mentality?

The club gave him a shot that has led to one of the biggest clubs and a high wage, probably the highest he ever had.

So you don't know anything about him but we shouldn't sign him because he cried?

Hope to feck this is a troll, but with this place I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was legit bit of criticism.

Bruno>Dybala

Really? Don't let last seasons numbers fool you, Dybala is an awesome player who suffered last year to accommodate Ronaldo.

I've admittedly not seen much of Bruno but I'm pretty sure Dybala would get a lot of goals and assists in Portugal.

Bruno seems like a player with skills and heart. Dybala comes across as skillful, but not as motivated to do well. I'd rather have the former. I might be wrong, of course. I was excited when we signed Kagawa.

Not about the numbers. Why are people so fixated with stats? The common sense view is that Bruno is a midfielder. Dybala is not. In a period where we’ve lost Herrera and Fellaini as midfield options with Matic clearly in poor form, which would you take? Clearly theres only one answer.

I would just envisage our plans would be to play one as #10 role, which is why I don't really see us bringing in both.

Why can't we have both Bruno and Dybala? One's a centre midfielder the other's a centre forward?

I hear ya! But just because he's 17 doesn't automatically mean we can't rely on him for more than a few games.

Agree, and he'll definitely get games this season and if anything I can see Greenwood replacing Rashford eventually, I reckon he's more a natural goal scorer. It'll be good to watch him develop.

That shouldn't stop us getting Dybala though if there's a chance. We need a bums off seats player and he's definitely one of those.

Fair enough, I don't get that impression with Dybala and think if we're comparing them for the no. 10 role, he's superior.

I'm not fixated with stats but the fact that Fernandes plays in Portugal means very few on here would have watched him properly, so he's either being judged on Youtube clips or stats. They both have played as attacking midfielders that's why they are comparable. Rightly or wrongly, Ole has pretty much confirmed Andreas and McTominay are expected to step up to replace Ander anyway. Dybala would be coming in as a Lukaku replacement (Who would also be our best no. 10), so I'm not really sure that makes Bruno more of a priority?

I say we just sign both and go 4-3-3

So he cries in public like a child???
It is one element of modern football that drives me mad. Players crying on the pitch, every relegation or cup final defeat come with tears. Not long ago, any footballer would be completely embarrassed by this but now is almost expected if your team loses a big game.

Anyway, it’s off topic. Welcome Bruno!!!

You sound like you're from the stone age. Or Roy Keane. Either way, stuck in the past. Nothing wrong with people showing emotion.

People crying about other people crying are the biggest sissies in the world.

Do both not play behind the striker? According to Di Marzio we are getting both anyway.

Both can play there yes but Bruno is more of a midfielder (8 or 10) and Dybala is an attacker who I think is best as false 9 but he can also play RW.

I've read a few reports (I know) that suggest that he doesn't want to come to United... Whereas Bruno apparently wants to. If these statements are true then I'd rather have a player who has everything left to prove.

No, you've read a lot of reports that state he would prefer to stay at Juventus.

That's totally different to "doesn't want to come to United".

Not sure where the ‘Dybala lacks motivation’ narrative has come from. Always struck me as being a bit of a scrapper with a huge will to win!

Sure there are such reports, his agent is working for him to get as high a salary as possible out of it. Makes a lot of sense

This is how I'd line-up:

DDG
AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Shaw
(spread passes) McT---Matic (defend)
(through middle) Bruno-Dybala (through middle)
(wide) Rashford-Martial (wide)
4-2-2-2 worked for Brazil in the 80s. Why not?

No no. I recall having read he'd rather play in London than Manchester. I'm looking for it, but it's like finding a needle in a haystack. Reporters churn out lies at an alarming rate.

There can only be three possibilities:
  1. I remember wrongly
  2. The report was nonsense
  3. He doesn't want to play in Manchester.

I said I could be well off, but last season it felt like he didn't really take to Ronaldo becoming the main guy? His output drastically declined. Most of the fire is fuelled by the media of course. The games I've seen him in, he reacts like a Suarez or Neymar when things don't go his way. Just looks like not the right attitude for us, which is a big part of why he wouldn't fit IMO. Just my opinion though, and because I say this doesn't mean I wouldn't love to be proved wrong if he joins us.

Fair enough. I've no idea on his feelings towards Ronaldo coming in but it certainly meant he had to adapt to accommodate and that will likely be frustrating for anyone in that position. How people can act on the pitch and their impact aren't always the same. People used to say Ronaldo was very petulant but at that level, I can understand the frustration. I kick off about things at work that I don't feel are right or are bad decisions, it doesn't mean I'm not a very good influence on those around me and excel at my job.

My opinion is we have way too much to say about these people from a personal point of view and have very little, if nothing, to base it on. Pogba will attest to that, I'm sure.

Absolutely no idea what's going on here but IMO, it still hinges on Pogba.

If Pogba leaves (and I think he will, but after our window closes), Fernandes will be his replacement but we're going to have to wait until January or something and try muddling along until then. I can't see us signing Fernandes AND Dybala with Pogba still here.
