Yeah, but honestly mate, you must understand why our club would want to take advantage of the situation due to how he was resigned to Sporting, right?

We are being fleeced and quoted insane prices left, right and centre, everyone wants a piece of us. I think 55-60 million euro should be a fair deal for both parties.

I would do 60M IF we get another 10M in objectives like goals assists CL qualification etc.

I understand your point but understand Sporting point of view as well. Since we are Sporting clubs try to low ball us but you no dam well if he was wearing the red of Benfica 70M would be a bargain because they would want 90M.

50M is way too low for a player of his quality in Today’s market.

Clubs try to take advantage of us all the time. All our best players are sold for peanuts.

What are you basing that at? I'm not sure he can even make it in EPL, never seen him play under pressure and in the NT he wasn't good.

Did say this seems too much Portuguese press pushing not enough reputable sources.

I really think this is a shame as Fernandes is the right age, mentality and style. He seems like a leader from what I’ve heard off Sporting fans and we are lacking those characters.
 
Why would we want a hard working, goal scoring leader on the pitch amongst our fluid attack anyway

Really does make me wonder what it is about him that doesn't convince Utd he is worth signing.

If anyone can think of a player we signed despite Sky saying we weren't in for them please speak now because need a bit of positivity.

Sky sports have said the media interest is coming from Portugal not Manchester , they are definitely reading the Caf :lol:

They're not really to blame for people getting carried away with this transfer rumour though, are they? This has looked dodgy and typical Portuguese media driven shite for ages. Peoples feelings are hurt because they fell for it once again.

It costs money, thats why. We continue to underinvest in a rather poor squad where the only hope is that the youngsters will make huge steps and the senior shit players suddenly turn things round

The only thing I can think of is that Ole is unsure of placing him and Pogba together in midfield and since Pogba probably isn't getting his move to Real we are hesitant to sign him. That being said I really would love to see us sign a player like him, we could do with more creativity than just Pogba in midfield, especially against the smaller teams. If they prove to defensively weak together against the big teams play McTom or Fred instead and leave either Pogba or him out.
 
We lack options in midfield so badly, it's puzzling how little depth we seemingly want to have in that department.

Imagine if Pogba breaks his leg first week of the season, we'd be buggered.

As Klopp said, he is the kind of player rivals don't want us to sign. I can only imagine we can't afford him because it's clear he'd be happy to join and wouldn't be stupidly over priced like Maguire

Of course they're to blame if we don't buy big!

Do they want United back on the big stage or not?!
Then they have to buy decent players and rebuild the team.

Doesnt mean we should sign players that we've talked ourselves into thinking is what we need?
He and Pogba were never going to play in the same midfield, it never made sense from the start.

Depth is not the problem in midfield. Top starting quality is. Fred, Pogba, Matic, Pereira and McTominay are enough bodies but other than Pogba, none of the others should be starting more than 20 games on a good team.

Perhaps the 100m to spend rumour was true?

It would make sense that we've been waiting to sell Lukaku before we can afford Maguire + anybody else.
