Bruno Fernandes Out?

I agree with most of it. I just think that the acquisitions of Varane and Casemiro are indicators of what has been going wrong. Both players were great and when they joined, they were on big money and in the case of Casemiro on a pretty long contract as well. This is something, that probably wouldn't even had happened under SAF.
Overall of course: we are far from oblivion but this limited success came for huge outlays. Spending crazy amounts in wages for players or fees. Our behaviour therefor might be a reason that Brunos now is trying to force an extention with wage increase as well. Why wouldn't they - over the last years, we made such mistakes on a regular basis. Over the years, players were able to have it quite comfortable here, everything is true in your post but we shouldn't ignore that.
Has this been confirmed then? Or are we just speculating as if it's fact?

Bruno will be 30 next season, are we ready to challenge for the title within 1-2 years? If not, are we going to drop off from the top 4 without Bruno?

We are desperate for funds to rebuild this squad for the mid to long term, it’d be insane if we turned down a huge offer if we still can’t complete for the title..

Bruno is the best signing since post Fergie.

What on earth do the supporters expect? him to carry the team on his back every year?

Please have a word with yourselves.

Bruno is our captain and will thrive when the quality around him goes up.

He deservers all of our respect and loyalty!

Bruuunoooo Bruuunooo.

Re-reading I actually didn't want to write "Bruno is trying to..." but rather "Brunos agent is trying to...". Apart from that, no it certainly is not confirmed. It is just as much a speculation as that his unconditional love for the club made him write yesterdays article.

Who out there is a realistic adequate replacement?

I would be surprised if our scouts couldn’t find a young player with potential for anything between £50-80m, and of course the idea isn’t to find someone that matches his numbers (at least in the immediate term) as this would be spread across the team, particularly when the quality of the squad is expected to improve over the next two transfer windows.

Unless we complete for the league within the next two seasons, it is pretty pointless to keep Bruno in the team.

I'd be interested in seeing what other players, not at top clubs, put up the sort of numbers he does. If we continue with ETH then we simply need such individual brilliance. Even if it's in a second rate league, I'd like to see who is comparable in his position.

What numbers are you referring to? If it's chance creation, you have Kevin Stöger from Bochum in Bundesliga who created 127 chances this season, more than Bruno and anyone else. Now your next question is probably who the feck is Kevin Stöger, and that should tell you everything you need to know about the chances created statistic.

I just meant in general, chances created, goals and assists. He's put up some crazy numbers at both Sporting Lisbon and United. Is there anyone out there that could viably replace his output? I had this argument when people were asking for Eriksen and then Mount to replace him. These guys might be better in certain ways, but when you take out somebody consistently worth circa. 30 goals a season, there has to be a good plan for replacing their output.

For him to have a good game and for us not to be exposed defensively from his positional ill discipline, he had to play false 9.

Unless that is the future there is no building around him. The structure of the team has to improve and that means he has to leave the midfield otherwise we will continue to lose the midfield battle. He is the reason for McFred.

I think Bruno in a false 9 is the future, he's world class in that position.

Cool, it's just that your last implied that Bruno is trying to force an extension with a wage boost but glad you've confirmed that's pure speculation.

Re the bolded, he says himself that he loves the club, and nobody in the know seems to be disagreeing with that or claiming the article was a contract cash grab. The only people saying his article was a cynical contract negotiation tool seem to be randoms like you. So I disagree that the level and reliability of speculation is the same.

Deary me, how am I going to sleep now...

Add to that that he's been a well-paid and crucial player for a top 3 biggest club in the world

Genuine question - what is it that you feel that United have to claim to be ahead one of Barcelona and Bayern ? I could add more clubs to this for debate, but with the above two I just cannot see it.

Because they are, the biggest clubs in the world are Man United and Real Madrid, everyone else are in the rear view mirror

If they sack Ten Hag and bring a manager like McKenna to waste another 3 years, I would leave if I were Bruno.

He is too old to waste his career on waiting United owners to get some sense. Bruno deserves to be winning things

Had to google it, damn it, that should have been my response. Touche
Love that gif!

Sorry buddy, I'll stop squabbling with you. You're entitled to your opinion and I know I can get quite opinionated and annoying about things.

No worries. I just wanted to reply to the downplaying post in another thread but your answer is from today in the morning and I don't want to derail the thread that continued over the course of the day for it. For some reason, I can't see your "homepage", when I click on your username it tells I can't access that. I thought, that would be my way of sending you some sort of DM or something with my reply. I guess it is something that can be deactivated.

Good thing we have been hiring several people to decide on these matters.

I think we're third behind Madrid and Barcelona and the top 3 has had this order for a very long time

Hes name dropped the 3 year plan under INEOS as a tidbit for his new article. This is something Ben Jacobs spoke of a while ago.
I wasn’t really quoting the video. Just the Romano tweet. The video is from like 3 weeks ago though.

Even if the scenario is completely unheard for some on here, there is still a chance that Brunos agent is trying to force Uniteds hand here in terms of an extension. I mean, he wouldn't be a very good agent if he wouldn't at least try it. Maybe those meetings are just part of the story. Most likely, there is nothing in it. It is going to be a long unpleasant summer... think of all the BS rumours that will only come from a good performance in one single game... Or the whole "I am not discussing my future I am totally focussed on my national team" ughhhh...

Weird that his agent is meeting with those clubs after just last week it seemed essentially done and dusted that he wasn't going anywhere.
Said agent represents 49 players, 18 of which are ranked as tier 1, so quite likiely that it has bugger all to do with Bruno

I think he wants a new deal at United (and why not when Rashford and Mount get paid more).

But we won't give him the same terms and his agent is testing the market.

Agent gets more money when their client is actively moving clubs.

He is looking for his last big contract on huge money. Both him and the agent have been doing to work to make it happen. Let's see if we are stupid enough to fall for it under the new regime as we were under the old.
