2 misplaced passes resulted in goals and awful till he remembered how to play football after his goal.

Still gave away a pass at the end which resulted in the overturned penalty.

Great free kick, but honestly I thought this was a shocking game from him. If they'd given the pen, he'd have been at fault for that too

Doesn't fit the inverted 10 and doesn't fit playing deeper in midfield, good goal but we need to get rid in the summer

He linked up well with Dorgu on the left, but his shift higher up the pitch stifled our creativity from deep. Everton pressed high, fully aware that Casemiro and Ugarte lacked the ability to break through their press.

It was a mixed performance, but credit to him for showing the character to help us get back into the game.

Low bar of course, but I agree with the commentator: best player in the 2nd half and by extension our best player today.

Poor first half, excellent second half. He kept Ten Hag and Ole in the job for longer than they should have been and he might end up doing the same with Amorim. No wonder every manager continously selects him for 90 minutes every game.

Is never a cm and will cost us more than he helps us. Great idea to just hit the target on the fk pickford is a dumbass. Finally a good delivery on the other goal. But so many weak/dumb decisions in cm that cost us.

The double dummy and the Pickford save on the 89th minute - didn’t he score a very similar goal against Everton a few seasons ago.?

At this point I don't care about misplaced passes. The job he has been given is impossible. He has to pass from deep in build up, then be on the edge of the box to create a chance and even finish it. It's not a surprise that he plays best when the likes of Amad, Licha and Eriksen play alongside him. We need better passers/creators in every area of the pitch. The day we can replace him as the weakest link in our team will mean that we've assembled a CL winning squad.

The eternal problem with Bruno: he'll have his magical moments, but the only thing you can rely on with him is frustrating inconsistency.

By crying that his initial freekick was right into wall and hit an ellbow from a player with his back to towards the goal. Great point to give him credit for. This was a bad game. 2nd goal came right from rushed play of his bombing it forward only for it to get back instantly against an unorganized defense. Think the penalty scene at the end originate from a wayward pass from him as well.

Great game for this thread for sure - fans will celebrate his freekick, critics will criticise everything apart from the setpiece.

Great in the second half but too makes too many misplaced passes to play in central midfield. EtH's best period came with Eriksen - Casemiro in midfield and Bruno as the 10. I would like to see Eriksen and Ugarte in there.

He was man of the match mate. Try to leave your biases at the door.

He was man of the match ffs.

what exactly was excellent about any of the performances today?! I mean, I know statman dave will tweet something and 07 will rush to put it in but I'd be interested what the excellent part was?

One thing he never does is hide, though. Even on a day when his performance wasn’t up to par, his mentality stood out. There’s a lot that many of our players could learn from his determination and willingness to keep pushing.

In a match where our first shot on target was in the what 70' minute? And a setpiece that was luckily repeated? Mate, this match could have been lost with a little less luck in the end and you'd luck at a crap performance and a crap result. A half decent result doesn't change the performance. I am not saying he was abysmal today. But if excellent and man of the match are thrown into the rumble, I don't know what meaning those terms still carry

What does that mean?

Its very simple isnt it. For his entire time here he's been surrounded by players without character, work rate, ability - often playing in poorly coached teams. Hed have absolutely excelled with any real talent around him at any top club

Played better from deeper position but he is a liability. Both goals and penalty result of him. That pass the led to penalty….just please stop doing that Bruno. Even the most braindead learn eventually…How many times he will do this?

Good free kick. He was due one…Thinks that’s his fourth fk goal in five years.

This thread is bonkers
The problem is people can't separate the good with the bad. Yes he had a couple good attacking moments, but he absolutely cannot play in the deep cm spot. So we have one half focusing on the attacking moments and saying he was world class and the other half focusing on the cm moments and saying he's still crap. It's a middle ground. I still think he has to play further forward he just get bullied and plays dumb shit at cm.

Another player that apparently doesn't suit Amorim's system. Sigh.

Can't dictate the game from one of the no. 10 positions, much better as soon as he dropped deeper, but that is not a long-term position for him in this team.

He had a decent 20 minutes after the free kick.

He lost the ball today 30 times and gave away the ball in the 93rd minute from the midfield with a backpass to an Everton player just outside the penalty area. There's no way that 2nd half performance can be described as excellent for that moment alone.

I was expecting to read a thread of praise. The position we're in, that was actually a very important point and he was instrumental to that. We're at such a low point that comeback will hopefully lead to a moral boost. He's a great fighter and clearly cares about the club.

Our best player. Think we need him in a deeper role

We need him centrally, however, Ruben has decided he will only play centrally from deep in midfield rather than in the final third.

He's our only real difference maker and he's being played to his weaknesses not his strengths, like many others.

Maybe the only man we have who can inspire something in adverse circumstances.

One thing he never does is hide, though. Even on a day when his performance wasn’t up to par, his mentality stood out. There’s a lot that many of our players could learn from his determination and willingness to keep pushing.
This mentality led to him making the pass that almost ending in us conceding a penalty in the dying minutes. No doubt, we'd be a better team if every member of the squad had his determination but lets also not act as if this is his only character trait. He was rushing it a lot today. A lot. And it directly fueled the frantic character of the game. People complain about Amorim playing so many defensive players yet seemingly fail to see that even with that we can't exude any form of rhythm and control in our game. Obviously thats not just on Bruno but he is a massive part of it.

So his lack of composure, ridiculous wastefulness (something we'd been warned about before he arrived here), and overall chaotic disposition is the fault of his teammates? He's probably our best player, but he's more than played a part in the shitshow of the past few years.

Have to give him credit. Game wasn’t perfect, it rarely is, but in this shit show one thing he never does is hide. He stands up and gives it a go and that’s more than half of his mates.

Captains performance in the second half. Never hides.

He’s the only player who can connect the play in the middle of the pitch, in this system.

In this system we play so much better with him in the 8. Two 6s just doesn’t work at all.

On an individual level he is one of our best players but I just can't see a place for him in the system we are trying to play. He drops too deep when played as a ten which leaves the striker and the other ten isolated up front and he is too careless in possesion to play in midfield.

When he dropped deeper and started to play well, the rest of the team responded. We're very, very reliant on him. There's not enough from the rest of the side, especially in the attacking positions.
