Incredible how many minutes he plays. Thought the cup competition might be an opportunity to give him a rest, but boy did we need him.

I have been extremely critical of Bruno before the run of matches before Liverpool. But in 2025 he has been sensational. He has been a 7-9/10 every match so far this year.

Saved us but god he’s so bad. Losing ball 20 times against Rangers embarrassing . Even in Sunday League not many players can miss passes by 30 yards .

Thought he was very good tonight. Saved our bacon at the end there. Proper captains winning goal in injury time and very much needed for us!

We desperately need a player with his vision, engine and passing range in central midfield. Him and Ugarte could be a great partnership! Just need some attackers that can make the most of his creativity!

Man looks shattered, bags under his eyes. In a team where players can often look like they couldn't give a shit, his commitment every 90 mins shines through.

He was very good for most of the game and gets extra points for playing in midfield 2 with someone lacking experience like Clleyer.

His passing was so inconsistent today, lost count of how many of his balls got intercepted. Clutch finish at the end though and saved us with it.

Pick one.

With Bruno is always polemic.

He did play a few very loose passes tonight. The most memorable one was when Zirkzee randomly fell flat on his face, so didn’t really mattter it was intercepted.

Also looked consistently the only player likely to create something and far better on the ball than every other player in red who wasn’t Diallo.

Clear MotM. Unpopular opinion but even though he scored the winner further forward, I like seeing him play the deeper role. It means we have an extra creative player in the side when he starts there and no other midfielder gives us that (Eriksen maybe, but he can’t run!)

I unironically think that he is our best CM. When you watch Bruno, then you watch the game. He's never far from the action, he's always available for a pass and he's usually played a part in our chances and goals. To top it off he makes nearly 3 times as many defensive contributions as his AM peers from other PL top teams. It's no wonder why it's so easy for Amorim to play him there.

I much prefer him playing in midfield , I think him and Ugarte would work well if we had better quality in front of them. I agree with Rio I think Mainoo should be played ahead of the midfielders

Can't progress the ball through midfield: Put Bruno there.

Need someone in the #10 to actually take a chance: Put Bruno there.

How have so many convinced themselves that Bruno is the problem when 90% of the time he's our only solution??

I love him but don't see him as a CM simply because against PL teams he just would give away the ball too much and cost us a lot of goals. Good got

Him and Martinez bailing us out.

He'll start for sure at Fulham but could get some rest (at least first half) at FCSB.

Another goal, another 90+ minutes played, another day of half the caf hating him.

The criticism he gets from a section of Utd fans is just insane.

9 goals and 11 assists so far this season for a complete fecking mess of a side. His output is absurd.

3 goals and an assist in the last 5 games. One of only about 2 or 3 players this season to have not been disgracefully poor.

Also it's a tiny detail but there was a moment where Collyer could have given a 3 yard pass to him and instead Collyer took responsibility of the situation and turned.

Bruno applauded him for a full 10 seconds. Good moment of encouragement. He does a lot of that which goes unnoticed.

I think I prefer him in the deeper role to the left sided 10 in this system to be honest, especially in games where we'll have a lot of possession anyway. Played well tonight.

Agree

He should play CM when we expect to dominate possession or aren't chasing a goal. Otherwise: AM.

And I think that this is Amorim's plan too.

Thought he was fine, obviously the winning goal elevates the overall performance.
Thats my take as well. Obviously a late winner will influence perception of the overall performance but I thought, given the rest was a rather stale (yet professional) performance, Brunos performance was the best today. I even gave him MOTM.

Pick one.
People will always see what they want to see. People who think he is fantastic will watch him play and feel confirmed, people who criticize him will find evidence for that as well. It isn't as easy as pick one.

He might be our best CM against opposition that sits back. And as long as he played AM in AM areas, his defensive contributions compared to other AMs would be great - but he is playing deeper. I hope that Fbref will finally notice that and enable to compare him midfielders not only to AMs and wingers.

Genuine question, after all the posts in this thread and its predecessors, is this really what you understood of the criticism?

I also think, thats Amorims plan. But going forward, we need a more rounded partner for Ugarte. One with the same range of passing and comparable incisiveness as Bruno but stronger and more press-resistant. This new guy, Ugarte and Bruno, I think, this could be a very functional midfield with both grit, fight and quality on the ball. With Bruno able to tuck in when needed and move forwards when suitable. As part of a midfield two, I think it is only a plaster and nothing we should waste too much time on as I think, the potential isn't there to be a viable plan A.
