I don’t want to be a buzzkill, because he was genuinely fantastic today. But let’s be honest—this felt like a very uncharacteristic game for him. He ran with the ball, kept things simple with his passing, and, for once, didn’t try to channel his inner long-shot maverick. He even stayed calmer than usual and cut down on the complaining. Who knew he had it in him?
If anything, this performance highlighted just how much we’ve been missing a proper attacking midfielder—someone who can move with the ball, free themselves from pressure with clever body movement, and actually help us build an attack without relying on Hollywood passes.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Bruno. He’s got incredible creativity and a passion that’s hard to match, but he lacks the composure and athleticism needed to dominate consistently at the highest level. Too often, he tries to force the spectacular when the situation calls for calm, measured play. And athletically, he sometimes struggles to keep up in physical or fast-paced games, limiting his effectiveness when the team needs him most. To truly take the next step, we need players who not only bring creativity but also the composure and athletic presence to shape games in a more controlled and consistent way.
