Its the captains job to organise. He utterly fails to do this. He has his creative moments after every 10th bad pass but its time to replace him.

Bruno did ok yesterday imo. The main issue was Palmer, Dalot was played out of position, if it was Shaw we would be able to handle him

Our players played their heart out yesterday, esp Ganarcho and Antony. It became clear that the system is the main issue and less so because of players. If we can fire ETH asap that would be better for sending a strong msg, as I don't think keeping him will help us winning FA either. We will be thrashed by Citey as usual.

Does so much pointless running and so little useful running.

If he runs 5 yards Dalot isn't left 1 v 1, the Chelsea player most probably avoids the 2 v 1 and turns back and we don't concede.

But he'd already blown his load doing some pointless individual pressing up the pitch, and we have no intensity near our goal where it matters.

We really need to move on from these brain dead players.

It's come to the point that the only good thing you can say about Bruno is he can play full match.

We have plenty of other problems, but getting him and Rashford out of our starting eleven would do us a world of good.

Easily the best attacking midfielder we've had for the last 10 years and it's not even close. Look at who's featured there in that period: Rooney (way past it at that point), Januzaj, Mata, Kagawa, Di Maria (?), Mkhitaryan (?), Pereira, Lingard and Pogba (although he often played in a midfield two).

I have zero faith in our club successfully replacing Bruno with someone just as good or better.

I love Bruno, but I think he needs a break. I would have taken him off at 65-70 minutes. he looked tired and he has played a ton of minutes. Ego aside, he should have come off.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. He's an awful leader, been in possibly the most creative position on the pitch for 5 years.

Doesn't score or assist enough. Doesn't inspire teammates, been the main part of an awful period for the club. Has to be moved along with the likes of Rashford. Things are getting worse with him as captain.

For the Rashford thread, but I agree. I would actually sell Rashford this summer and wash my hands with him or Bruno. Bruno is tired and doesnt look sharp at all. When is the last time he had a good game? I am seriously struggling to remember.

Whilst you're probably right -- they don't need to be as good, or better on an individual level, really. We need to move away from individual talent and have a squad of players who complement a cohesive system.

You obviously need genuine ability, but first and foremost is complementary player profiles. Letting Fernandes go opens up a huge possibility in that sense.

Exactly. The last thing I would want would be for us to sign another Bruno type. Liverpool sold their Bruno, in Coutinho, and looked a far better side because of it.

I think Mount is better and younger, same position.

That's if you subscribe to the idea that it's impossible to build a good team and play good football with Bruno. I reject this premise. I would also add that if a player is incapable of playing in a good team then they are also not good individually.

Bruno is far more adaptable and versatile than he's given credit for. Bruno for Ole, Portugal and Ten Hag look like 3 different players.

I don’t think he is…I think he’s perceived to be. The narrative is that he has been, but break it down and he hasn’t been good at all for three years and the cumulative effect is now that his purple patch when he first arrived is all that is keeping his goals/assists per 90 above others, and that is only slightly. Even players who played 80% of their games deeper. Then you consider that we have scored slightly more goals per game, but conceded considerably more, won less matches and less points over the time he has been here, than the same time period before he came. Ultimately we’ve been less successful.

The only player you mentioned who I can think had such a long sustained period of poor form is Lingard while for me Rooney (obviously ) Mata, Di Maria, Pogba were all better players…Like I’m not a massive fan of what Mata did for us, but minute for minute he performed better and helped us to play better football. He just wasn’t suited to the way we played. Di Maria is on another level to Bruno over his career. Sadly it didn’t work out at all here and Pogba, whilst he wasn’t great…he was good. Narrative aside, he never had three years, or even a sustained season of poor form. He always had sustained periods of good form. From a deeper position on the pitch he contributed a goal or assist every 195 mins with an 85% pass completion while Bruno contributes a goal or assist every 190 mins from much higher up the pitch and with a pass completion of around 75%.

Three things:

1 - It's not about better or worse, it's about his specific strengths and weaknesses. Bruno has certain strengths that dictate how our team needs to play to cater to those strengths. That style of play will not make us consistently competitive at the top of the table.

2- We do not need a like-for-like replacement and we should actively avoid getting one. Bruno is critical for us because so few of our other players are highly progressive passers. But we can replace (and better) his passing in the aggregate through a combination of players. A more processive RCB, CDM, Martinez returning, Shaw/new LB, RW, etc. If we did that, our team's attack would be far more balanced across the field.

3- If we accomplish #2, which is required for us to be competitive, we don't need to buy a replacement. Mount has proven he's among the best in the PL at that position, but I doubt he'd work for us today because we're so reliant on Bruno's long passing. To drop Bruno, other things must change first.

That’s disingenuous…Under Ole in his last season Bruno was even worse than this season. Last season people including yourself were claiming Bruno was our player of the season, which was strange but still, that was under ETH. Now he’s almost as bad as he was two seasons ago and everything was rosy until ETH and it’s not Bruno’s fault. Right.

feel like he spent a decent amount of time rolling around on the floor trying to buy fouls, dont really recall seeing him get too many called either. Just his usual roll around then pop up when he realized didnt get the call.

Tired of his antics. He miscontrols and overhits a ball 20 times per game, but if anyone else is doing it he is furious.

He is like an inconsistent Roy keane.

TH should try dropping Bruno for at least a game. It could be tiredness as he plays every game without fail. Also the tactics in midfield doesnt suit the team and therfore Bruno either. He spends more time running up and down the pitch chasing players, because of the big hole in the middle, as TH stupidly plays a low block in defence and high press in midfield. What other team plays this?

I hated that performance. It was pure chaos and even when we where under pressure he wouldn't stop with the Hollywood passes.
No control or interest in keeping possession. The thing is though, it seems that's how Ten Hag wants us to play.

There are two possible explanations to the Bruno question:

1. He's ultimately not good enough for where United want to get back to, and should be moved on in the summer and we start afresh with a new approach.

2. He is good enough, but ETH is not using him correctly, in which case he's an incompetent manager.

There is third one as well He isn't good enough while also being used incorrectly by Ten Hag who himself seems to be out of depth and Both need to be moved on in Summer .

I just don't see a top team winning the league with a chaotic player like him on the side. The Coutinho comparison seems more and more apt each season, we should sell him and re-invest in players that may be less eye grabbing in terms of play, but more effective over the course of the game

Look at his stats. He is the most productive player in the league. KdB likes him. You all wanting him dropped are talking shite.

The "me stats" argument has died off, even Bruno's most ardent supporters here have accepted he's been largely shyte this season, no matter what the "most chances created" list says. Because if chances created was an actual useful metric to determine how well someone's performing, Pascal Gross and Andreas Pereira would also be considered quality

Let’s have KDB manage the team then.

We need to stop obsessing about stats and start focusing more on the cohesiveness of the unit. Bruno creates chances but the rest of his game has really nosedived. Instead of elevating the team he’s another one who contributes to our piss poor ball retention and quality of general play. I wouldn’t drop him as we have little quality in the squad but I’d rotate here and there with Mount if he’s fit. In the long run, we need start moving on from Bruno and bringing in someone with better ability in tight spaces and mobility. Bruno is just too much of a one tick poney - he has a good Hollywood ball on him but the rest of his game is pretty average.

Would put in a bid for Smith Rowe and play him in the 10 position if Bruno does indeed move elsewhere next season. Would be cheap and he would join us in a heartbeat. Just don't trust ETH (if he is still around) to pull it off though.

Also agree to this.

Bruno could've had more good games this season, had ETH been less bad as a manager. The Chelsea game is definitely one of his better game this season, if Dallot had not committed that penalty and not lost, people would've been less harsh toward Bruno.

The thing that bothers me more is him being a captain. He is no captain material. Being captain, he needs to be prudent as a match winner, even if we have to play a little dirty (aka. slow down the play, pass the ball around etc.). That is his job to yell at the troop to protect the lead. He, instead, is loose canon himself who lose the ball for no reason at crucial time, let alone telling his teammates what to do as captain.

The same age old argument that we have used to tolerate mediocrity for a decade. Nobody gives a flying fook about stats. We are 6th in the table and sliding with negative goal difference and we get outplayed by anybody with a pulse. The only constant in the midfield for the last 4 years has been Bruno Fernandes. Bruno hasn't been even decent let alone good since 2021.
