Brighton and Hove Albion 2024/25 season

I admire Brighton, they're a model for other clubs to aspire to.

That said, I'm beyond sick of losing to them and I enjoyed every second of watching them get absolutely hammered

Hurzeler was very cocky after the United game saying he knew how to play against them. He should have watched a few Forest games too!

I remember Carragher or someone saying that Forest were difficult for Liverpool because teams are constantly moving/pressing while Forest stood still. Modern teams aren't used to playing against it. So it might make some sense that Brighton the most 'modern' of teams would have a nightmare against a more old-school approach.

They ran Brighton off the pitch.

Fair enough as I didn't see the game today but in general they have the lowest percentage of time sprinting out of possession in the league in a graphic I saw yesterday. Not that they don't work hard, but they pick carefully when to run, they don't press in the same way as Brighton or Spurs do for example.

Fair play to the manager, Brighton have responded very well to the 7-0 thrashing.

Minteh and Rutter seem to have stepped it up, in addition to Mitoma being in excellent form.

So pleased with the reaction since the Forest debacle.

Brighton 2 - 1 Chelsea
Brighton 3 - 0 Chelsea
Southampton 0 - 4 Brighton
Brighton 2 - 1 Bournemouth
Newcastle 1 - 2 Brighton

First time we've won 5 in a row (in all comps) in the Premier League and yet we still have a group of fans in the Hurzeler out camp! I hope we get Forest in the cup

Yes, I am quoting myself and yes, I am happy that he is doing well.
I think he's doing brilliantly, it was a big jump and he has shown he is learning on the job, he's adapted when he needed to and admitted mistakes he has made. The players clearly love him and will run themselves into the ground for him. The team spirit in the squad is the best I've ever known it and we're playing exciting football.

It's Brighton so it will come come crashing down again at some point, but this team has shown that they can overcome set backs. For a first season in the EPL he has been excellent.

How can you support St Pauli and Bayern?
Easy. I am from Hamburg but started supporting Bayern when I was in elementary school and HSV was actually doing better than Bayern. Yes, I am old. All my friends rooted for HSV but somehow Bayern "picked me".
Picking Pauli over HSV was an easy decision when looking at the fan scenes.
There is a lot of overlap between the Pauli and Bayern fan scenes. Especially the political orientation. There is also sometimes mutual support between the fans.

Another very impressive season in the making, and a very well handled manager transition. Whatever you're drinking down there in Brighton could you please share with our owners. Baleba looks an amazing find btw.

Long term, I think our midfield will be Baleba and Gomez, together I think they'll surpass Caicedo and MacAllister

I would happy to see any of the teams that haven't won a major trophy before in their history, Brighton (excluding a Charity Shield won before WW1), Bournemouth, Fulham or Palace, winning the competition.

But my first preference would be for Brighton to go all the way and win it, given how much I've enjoyed watching them under Potter (IIRC under him they often dominated a lot of games but struggled to convert their chances), De Zerbi and now Hurzeler.

If someone offered you an automatic pass to the FA Cup final but you'd have to play Palace, would you take it? Not sure my nerves could handle that game. And imagine being the loser...oh my days.

I think their circumstances are unique and almost impossible to replicate tbh. A billionnaire fan with a data analytics company that is happy to plough £400m of his own money in to the club without wanting anything back. How many football clubs are ever in that position? They're not on the same playing field as most midtable sides, Bloom gives them an astronomical advantage.

Should be called Bloom and Hove Albion in fact, without him they'd still be playing in front of 3,000 at the Withdean. Those were the days

Oh and @The Boy, while you're there can you please get another song? Allbbbiiooonnn Allbbiiiooonnn...aarrgghhh!!

I can't help but feel that's whats destined to happen, either a semi or even worse the final, I just pray that Fulham knock you out, I don't think I could handle a Brighton Palace final either.

No doubt Tony Bloom transformed Brighton, but after the sh1t we' been through, I don't think anyone bar a Palace fan could begrudge us that! That said a good chunk of that loan went on building the Amex, so it's not as though we have just been splurging on players like a Chelsea and according to our last accounts we have paid back about 100 million.

For clarity. The £400m of debt financing started before 2009! Used to: get us out of L1 & Withdean; build the Amex; build the training ground; get us out of the Championship (no parachute payments); build the women’s training facility; stabilise us in the Prem; cover Covid losses and finally invest another £40m in freshening the Amex/build the fanzone. It hasn’t been spunked on footballers. We’ve also sold £350m+ of said footballers and paid back Bloom £100m.

Any reason for that? Of course Forest was a terrible loss but you had that last season losing 6-1 to us and 4-0 to Luton.

Do the fans not connect to him like they did with De Zerbi so find his personality a little more sterile? Or is it the lack of home wins before the Chelsea double header.

Brighton in FA Cup QFs again with a very winnable match and I think you'll shortly be in top 5 of prem as pretty much all your big six pointers in the run in are home games, Fulham, Villa, Newcastle. Also have Liverpool at home right at the end who will have won the league long before.

Seems harsh to demand the manager out when you've got a decent chance of making CL if it goes down to 5th and he could deliver an FA Cup final aswell.

The price for constantly beating Football I guess. ;)

The Forest loss, was down to tactical naivety by Hurzeler I think. We played with one central midfielder, Hinshelwood and five attackers in front of him. To be fair we had lots of injuries and suspensions at the time, but it was the wrong way to set up against a team that breaks very quickly and they easily over ran us, what pleased me was Hurzeler admitting his mistake afterwards and burning the team sheet in front of the team the next day saying they would never do that again!

There is an element of the fan base that just don't like him, but I think this is only because he isn't RDZ and they jump on any mistake or perceived mistake and make a lot of his lack of experience, but the majority think he's a good manager. He's clearly learning on the job, but he is willing to adapt. Our defence played a much higher line, for example, earlier in the season and we got caught out by this quite a lot, that's stopped and our goals against have fallen dramatically.

I think he's done a brilliant job, he has fecked up occasionally, like the Forest game, but he's honest about it and fixes it, the players clearly love playing for him, there's a great team spirit around the squad and a lot of our younger players are developing really well.
