Brentan Rodgers

I can't stand how he's got a reputation of playing Barcelona-esque football when really that's bullshit but he's doing a decent job at Liverpool, mainly down to Suarez though if anything happens to him they are fecked.

I think it's blindingly obvious that Suarez is central to everything good about Liverpool's attacking play. It's why our owners, & the manager, fought so hard in the summer to make sure he didn't jump ship. But we did cope OK without him for those 10 games. Winning 7, drawing 2, & just losing the one match. Naturally, we didn't look as potent up front, but Rodgers proved his tactical flexibility by getting results even when we were without such a great player.

We got a snapshot yesterday of how our manager wants his team to play. The good thing about it is that there were numerous contenders for the MOTM award. For all his brilliance, Suarez was well supported by his team-mates at WHL, & it was pleasing to see 4 or 5 red-shirts in the opposition box when we were on the attack. This is something we've seen a lot of at Anfield, but surprisingly, until yesterday, not so much away from home. The performance against Hull a few weeks ago was a complete horror-show. Even Suarez looked like a pub player that day. But I think it's fair to say that all teams have an off-day every now & then, it's how they respond that's important. So it's equally fair to say that we've responded brilliantly by winning 3 matches & scoring 14 goals in the process. Rodgers certainly deserves credit for getting the team back on track when it could quite easily have been the catalyst for a slide down the table.

Nobody knows where the future of Luis Suarez lies. But like all great players, he won't be around forever. It's the future of Brendan Rodgers that's more important. If he's still at Anfield long after Suarez has gone, then we'll know yesterday's 'snapshot' was not just a one-off.

I haven't had the opportunity to watch them that much in recent weeks, but at the start of the season I found them very dull. They often got the lead, shut up the shop and hanged on to the result (which is why I think Brenton should also be applauded, cos he's been very pragmatic in his approach so far). Have they changed their style since Suarez got back?
14 goals in the last 3 games. Champagne football, baby.
Sadly B20 is spot on RIP :(
They might need to find that pragmatism in the next few games as it will be the only way to contend with the leagues real quality sides. Great result at whl but tougher challenges lie ahead and we will find out a lot more over Christmas.
Always found a strong hatred for all things Liverpool, growing up around plastic scouse wankers in the 80's burned a scar, being on here and socialising with the proper fans has softened my opinion somewhat, we're all just fans that love the best team in the land... Our own.

Still cnuts though

I don't believe our 2 matches against City & Chelsea will be defining in any way. The home sides will be strong favourites in both games, & anything we pick up will be an unexpected bonus. As I've said before, the 2nd half of our season looks to be far more favourable than the 1st, with 9 of the 11 other sides in the top 12 still to come to Anfield. I'd have happily taken 36 points from our first 19 games at the start of the season. Beat Cardiff on Saturday & we're in a very good position regardless of what happens at Stamford Bridge & The Etihad.

I don't think it will be defining either, it will however tell us a lot more about Liverpool and not just that, Chelsea and City too, it might give us an insight as to how Rodgers views his chances against the top sides. I fancy City to take 3 points if Liverpool attack as they have been but Chelsea might struggle, a lot will depend on how both games are approached and if the manager fancies it on the day.

Has just insinuated that the referee today was on City's side because he is apparently from Greater Manchester.

Will receive a fine and touchline ban for that.

Take it happily.

Did the officials get anything other than the offside call wrong?

How was the ref on city's side? The lines man gave the offside and apart from not booking suarez first simulation twice I didn't see much wrong.

 It was a genuine question by the way, I only caught part of the match.

GTFO, penalty to suarez? You're having a laugh. His shirt was pulled in an inconsequential way. He threw himself in the air is the opposite direction. No penalty and a yellow for simulation. Scummy fecker had almost tricked us into thinking he was semi human again.

Skrtel rarely even looks at the ball when defending corners. He's going to keep on grabbing jerseys and wrestling opposition players until he gets punished for it.

He's doing a fine job, no doubt about that. They steadily improve under him.

The "penalty" to Suarez isn't called in almost every game in the EPL every weekend.

He does himself no favors by diving earlier, as well. Always fun to see a player with his arms up screaming when he's in the air and before the whistle is blown though.

Rodgers should get a nice ban. Stupid of him.

Take it happily.

Brenton has no cause for complain.

Skrtel should've had three pens given against him today. Absolutely abysmal that Skrtel's allowed to compensate for being such a poor defender with thuggery. Bar the bizarre allowance for him to play with whatever means necessary he'd play in the Championship.

If that was penalty then Skrtel should have 5 against him.

The commentator actually said that he had never seen a player holding more in the box than Skrtel. When Suarez got pulled, he actually managed to trow himself the wrong way. Not a penalty.

The offside was wrong, but that was the linesman.

The amount the commentators were picking up on Skrtel's continual shirt tugging, I wouldn't be surprised if refs start clamping down. Will surely only take 1 penalty call, and it'll sort him out for good.

He's a massive tall goon of a player, just win the ball in the air without doing it!

Ehm, Squirtle was pulling Kompany like mad while defending corners ( and still managed to lose every single fight for the ball ) but it was the other way around too. It's pretty normal between defenders/strong lads fighting in the box. Of course I'm happy that Suarez didn't get a call because he's a fecking clown but I assume I'd be pretty mad if it was one of our players being pulled like this. Lescott was completly inept to mark him out. Suarez did himself no favour with that pathetic dive he did, looked like a Starfish himself.

The offside decision was cringeworthy though, side-liners need their eyes checked because Liverpool were not the only team that was fecked over by the line ref today.

Yeah, after the 'defending' by Skrtel today, he really needs to keep his gob closed.

The vermin keeper didn't exactly cover himself in glory either and the miss by Arnold from different strokes wasn't clever.

Of course it's all the referee's fault.

Rodgers has done a job with Suarez that is similar to Moyes with Rooney in terms of mollifying an unhappy player and getting the best of the team's best weapon. I don't know how much direct influence Rodgers has had on that but he deserves the credit as the manager.

Nice one Brendan. Mason was poor, but that lino was embarrassing. You didn't even need a replay to view the offside.

 Brenton! Didn't he see Skrtel's wrestling and shirt pulling on Kompany on every croner? Could easily have been penalty. What about Johnson's late challenge on Kolarov for which he could have been sent off? The referring standard was overall poor. It wasn't bias towards one team.

He very well knows what will get the deluded scousers to his side. One of that is accusing a manchester referee of bias.

Imagine the outrage from their lot if Sir Alex had said the referreing was horrendous. Rodgers was right about some of those calls, the decisions were extremely bad but they would have been calling for fines if it was Sir Alex saying the same thing.

The dippers are more than just Suarez. True if he gets injured it would set them back, but the likes of Coutinho and Sterling have come on strong this year, and when you throw Sturridge back into the mix, they will be quite a force for the remainder of the year.

Can't really take this seriously considering City should've had 4 absolutely blatant, clear-cut penalties no discussion at all.

Should keep his gob closed, me thinks. Once someone picks up on Skrtel's antics they're not winning another game until he plays another defender/Skrtel stops using dirty tricks and gets showed up for the Championship defender he is.

Whats the 4?

If you're talking about the Kompany-Skrtel incidents, Kompany was holding on to Skrtels neck as much as Skrtel was holding on to his shirt.

Nonsense.

Skrtel half ripped his shirt off so Kompany pushed him aside using his hand.

But come on, if that's not penalty incidents then what is? If you're allowed to do what Skrtel does (and it isn't just this match it's every week, just watch it) what is the point of even having rules?

Nope Kompanys hand was on his neck. I'm not going to argue that Skrtel shouldn't have given away penalties in the previous games, he has been very bad with the shirt pulling for as long as i can remember. But today i think both him and Kompany were culpable of foul play.
