I just don't get why it's really an offence at all when a player can just ignore it and head the ball into the goal if he chooses to.

The rules shouldn't be pandering towards players acting like complete fannies. Is the safety of the players being put at risk by their shirts being allowed to be pulled at set pieces?
Absolute horseshit.
None of what Skrtel did was a penalty.

I mean, it was a blatant foul, but if you're not going to give it anywhere else, why against him?
What Skrtel does is more than shirt pulling. Most set pieces he's pulling the shirt, with both arms around the attacker's neck whilst facing away from the ball. Absolutely no other defender in the league gets away or does as much fouling in the box as him.

What I don't understand is why everyone from the commentators to the media are referring to it as Sterling's 'goal'. Hart knew the whistle had gone and didn't even attempt a save. Just because Sterling played on for 10 seconds after everyone had stopped doesn't mean he had a goals ruled out for offside. Nitpicking I know...

In fact given Sterling's usual lack of composure in front of goal there's a good chance Hart would have saved it anyway

I'd love to bvelieve that but it was a great counter attack;he would have scored

Al is a bit of a scouser in that regards anyway constantly whining about his poor little arsenal is treated unfairly by everyone. Wenger has set the victim mentality quite deep it seems.

He might have but he didn't. So I don't you call it a disallowed goal. Pointless nitpicking though

It wouldn't have surprised me if he missed mind. Looks an excellent player but his touch and finishing seems to desert him when he's on goal

The nitpicking is coming from you if i'm honest.

Look we all love the Scousers losing and I hate Rodgers whining about the officials but it also dettracting from a very good Liverpool performance in which they could and should have been 2 up.Looking for reasons to criticise them further is absurd

I know.

Eh? I have praised Liverpool a lot (ugh) over the last month or so on the Liverpool thread. They're playing very well, no doubt about that

Why has a thread about Rodgers, with a discussion about City/Liverpool, turned into a discussion about United getting added on time, Fergie bullying, dark forces and a death star at OT?

fecking scousers

Liverpool are playing well. Their forwards and midfield move the ball with pace and it always seems their strikers/forwards have loads of space to work with.

Sadly, they are better than us at the moment. However; Rooney, RVP, Kagawa, Nani, Carrick and most of our backline are a step above what they have besides Suarez.

I am not sold on their defending either. But Rodgers has them playing well and credit to him for that. Hopefully Gerrard and Sturridge willl return and feck up the chemistry they have going.

Nani and Kagawa are more good in theory really, aren't they? In practise, I don't think they are better than the likes of Coutinho and Sturridge. And Carrick is the only one I'd have from your midfield.

Most of the people I know from Bolton hate the mancs even more than a lot of scousers do. I very much doubt there was any 'favouritism' shown on his part. He's basically a shit ref who shouldn't have been put in charge of such a high profile match.

Rodgers doesn't strike me as someone who's prone to emotional outbursts after a match. I suspect a lot of it was calculated aimed at firing up his players, & maybe putting pressure on future referees who are in charge of Liverpool game. Let's face it, he wouldn't be the first one to do it.

But you said the same thing about Rafa Benitez though, Retardman.

Yep, I'd have Sturridge and Coutinho over Nani and Kagawa at this point. Nani has shown he's world class in the past, but for the past couple of seasons he hasn't really impressed. Kagawa has shown brilliant form too, but again, in the PL that's been nonexistent.

Was thinking that. Kinda hoping he manages Ireland at some stage to be honest. Cheers.

I hope he's at Liverpool for a long time to come! I think MON will do a good job with Ireland, he'll give a lot of young payers the chance to come through.

Oh yeah, obviously if he was to manage Ireland it'd be a good, good few years down the line. Just a personal thought, he may well have no desire to manage Internationally.
