apparently has 3 sealed envelopes with 3 names of people who would let Liverpool down this season

Whose name?

1. Rodgers
2. Downing
3. ?

He's called their Europa League loss a "perfect away performance" and said they looked "defensively solid".

He's more subtle than Dalglish but equally deluded.

@JohnBrewinESPN: Brendan Rodgers: "Apart from the opening 5-10 minutes it was a near perfect away performance." #lfc

What's wrong with this guy?

It's like he doesn't acknowledge the significance of goals in football.

His tactics were actually pretty spot on. His biggest mistake was in the QF against Italy to give Pirlo so much room to pull the strings, the guy's a brilliant player of course but we surely could've done more back then to cause him problems. Giving Pirlo time on the ball is inviting punishment on yourself. However, he was almost vindicated in his tactical choices and we didn't do that bad. The thing is, we go in most international competitions thinking we're favourites cos we've got "the best players of the best league in the world" in the squad, but it's never really materialized, for various reasons.

Hodgson took a very pragmatic approach and tried to make us play on our strengths, which got us out of a group which might have been tricky. I'm not his biggest fan, I especially don't understand the love he has for certain Liverpool players, but I think he's very lucid about the state and level of the team and doesn't let the media hype go to his head. He might just be the manager England needs to do a little bit better in international tournaments.

And furthermore, I like the shape he's giving the team, if the midfield is based around Cleverley and Wilshere, I'm in.

Sorry, I've only just seen this post.

I really don't buy into the whole argument of our group being very tricky. Sweden are a bang average side, as are Ukraine, who should both be swept aside by sides of our calibre. I'm not overrating us to say that we have good enough players to win those games comfortably. The French always under-achieve as well, so taking 7 points from that group is really exactly what I'd expect.

Hodgson got lucky; it's as simple as that. Ukraine scored a legitimate goal, and if it wasn't for Walcott coming on and completely changing the game v Sweden(a player Hodgson didn't seem to rate at the time), we'd have been out in the group stages.

For me he's guilty of buying into the complete opposite idea of our team to the media. Whilst it has too often been said that we were the best team in the world, Hodgson seemed to take the view that we were the worst side in the competition. That match v Italy wasn't good tactics - they did everything but score and we didn't even come close to threatening. We didn't play on the counter attack or anything - we sat and prayed.

All international managers of top teams have good win percentages. Hodgson shall be no different. But he's really not good enough to manage England.

There is some deliberate misquoting going on though. I think he was implying they did great for 70 minutes and then was disappointed they lost two goals in the last 20 if you read the full quotes.

Its not even that they conceded the 2 goals in the first 10 minutes.
That quote can not be right.
No fecking way.

He's hit from the same delusion sickness most Liverpool fans have had

Even RAWK are coming close to the realization that they are just shit. How can he not see it? I refuse to believe he's blind enough to not see it. He just wants to keep his job so he's saying the shit that he is. Being honest will only get him sacked asap a la Hodgson.

“It is great for the public here in Russia to see us.They must have been wondering what this team everyone is talking about are all about and now they have seen. We were wonderful.

“Our intention is always to pass teams to a standstill, but give credit to Zenit, they defended ever so well when other teams might have wilted.

Final score:

Zenit 2-0 Liverpool

Nothing delibrate. He said it was a "near perfect away performance". Apart from the goals.

It's like saying Arsenal put in a "near perfect away performance" at OT last year. Apart from the 8 goals conceded.

There has been no 'deliberate misquoting'

Rodgers has mastered the looking confident bit but it remains to be seen if he can produce a successful side. He has tried to make it seem an irrelevance.
