Brentan Rodgers

It's bloody cowardice and party-line toeing; that thread was locked before the Norwich win, then opened immediately after, now locked again after the Oldham debacle.

Re ~ the 'Come Dine With Me, YAWN' thing: he's copying Ancelotti'.

Yeah, old Brentan does like shamelessly ripping off other manager's successful ruses and doing them in an incompetent manner.

How do they justify locking threads on their own manager?

And he manages to make things that other managers pulled off sound ridiculous. I can imagine Ancelotti doing the meal thing, because he's an established, experienced manager with more gravitas than the lovechild of Sir Ian McKellan and Fridtjof Nansen. Whereas Rodgers is basically a whiny Irish koala bear.

I'm not even going to be sarcastic about this crap; it's beyond parody and precisely the kind of muddled, snide & pompous rubbish that Hodgson got so much stick for:

Rodgers denies Liverpool FC signings are too lightweight

THE horror of watching their side meekly capitulate to third-tier opposition has rightly prompted Liverpool supporters to query their team’s appetite for a scrap.

But for Brendan Rodgers, the one glaring shortcoming on display from his players at Boundary Park on Sunday wasn’t a physical attribute. It was in their heads.

Not for the first time, a Liverpool manager was left cursing the lack of mental strength within his team after watching them crumble to a humiliating 3-2 FA Cup fourth round defeat at League Two strugglers Oldham Athletic.

Much of the outside scrutiny has now focused on the Northern Irishman’s own signings and the concern they may be too lightweight to compete against more forceful if less talented opposition.

And while Rodgers disagrees, he accepts players are still growing accustomed to the pressure that comes with playing at a club of Liverpool’s stature.

“Take Fabio Borini and Joe Allen, for example,” says the Anfield manager.

“One thing I would say about Borini and if you ask people about him, they’d say his biggest attribute is his physicality.

“His power and aggression – that’s what he’s renowned for.

“That’s something he needs to improve on because that’s his strength. That’s where his qualities are.

“As for Joe Allen, I’ve seen Joe throw Yaya Toure to the ground in games last season.

“He has never been found wanting physically.

“For some players their power and strength is in their brain. Otherwise you would have basketball players throughout your team.”

Rodgers adds: “It takes a wee bit of time. When you come into a club like this as a young player you have to adapt very quickly to the demands.

“I don’t think that as a team we are physically light or short in anyway. I think it’s mental and that’s something we need to improve.

“Is the club too big for some players? I wouldn’t like to say that at this stage. Up until Sunday we were all talking about how well they had been doing and how they were progressing.

“The bigger picture is we have some terrific players here. The nature of it is that at big clubs there will be players who come in and it will be too much for them.

“There are certain question marks and I don’t think that’s just over this period. It’s something which goes beyond that.

“It’s something I am finding out about. That’s where this season is, it’s a great season for learning in terms of what we have here.”

The manner in which 6ft 6ins Matt Smith, scorer of Oldham’s first two goals, terrorised the Liverpool defence alarmed Rodgers, particularly given how his side were outmuscled in the recent defeats to Aston Villa and Stoke City.

“The boy Smith hadn’t scored a goal at home in two years and he’s come up against two big units we have at centre-half,” says Rodgers.

“He’s a boy who has come out of university football and he looks like Didier Drogba.

“We have seen it before with (Villa striker Christian) Benteke, who after our game has disappeared. That’s the resilience and steel we need to have and we have to do it consistently.

“Going to places like Oldham you know what you’re going to get, it’s not a Premier League game. It’s a game where you have to roll your sleeves up and fight and as I said, it was too soft.”

While Rodgers is adamant a lack of strength in depth was borne out at the weekend, he retains faith his players will have been hurting as much as he is.

“I think they care,” he says. “One thing I have found working with youth and seniors is you get plenty who tell you they care, but the benchmark and greatest way I assess it is what people do physically.

“I have had people telling me all my life, from when I was a young coach working with both young and older players, they say ‘I want to be in your team, I want to do this and I want to do that.’

“I go ‘fine, no problem,’ but the minute they are out of the door I look to see what they do physically because what they do physically, that’s your commitment mentally.

“You get players who tell you they want to be this or that, who are maybe one of the last in in the morning and first out in the afternoon, and they don’t care.

“That’s what we are trying to piece together here – a group who are mentally on the same wavelength.”

That's absolutely textbook RAWK logic. They'll lap that stuff up.

He talks so much utter shite it's unreal.

“It is great for the public here at Sunderland to see us,” said Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers. “They must have been wondering what this team everyone is talking about are all about and now they have seen. We were wonderful."

Result: Sunderland - 2 Swansea - 0

That literally does not make sense. It's a complete contradiction.

5'11" 70kg Fabio Borini is renowned for his POWER and AGGRESSION. It's something he needs to IMPROVE ON because thats where his QUALITIES are...

Seriously? What a fecking melon. He's a decent poacher at best.. :wenger:

This IMHO is even worse

 Stupid logic tbh

A lot of nonsense there but I think he is trying to say that the team switched off and that players he introduced didn't raise their game and show him what they can offer.

Really .

I rather think he was saying 'not my fault guvnor' with as much flowery doublespeak to fool the gullible into beleiving hes actually making a point about the nuances of the game of football.

Hes a con man , and I think your board have well and truly fecked up. Kenny needed to go, he just doesnt understand modern football (and I mean the whole package, PR, media etc as well as on the pitch), but this guy?

Should have gone balls out for martinez, given hes the guy that created the success story Rodgers is living off the back of. Swansea.

God he annoys me.

By the way, Suarez's interview with Fox Sport was mentioned in another thread. Brent said it would be 'dealt with internally', what exactly did that come down to? Handing him the captain armband for Sunday's debacle?

Sorry MJJ - I can't agree with that. He's a tosser and playing for your club and earning more in a month than most earn in a year should be motivation enough for a proper professional.

Rogers is such a wanker that they probably tried to lose the third game to avoid lunch with him.

Its not a bad idea though, as it gives them small target to aim for and keeps them motivated.

No wonder they are under-achieving - he's confusing them with all this pseudo-intellectual bullshit. What a plank!

Wow, this Brenton watch is becoming almost as much fun as the RAWK thread.

I hope he stays for a while, for the entertainment value if nothing else.

Yeah I was thinking this actually, I'm getting more chuckles out of this thread than the RAWK meltdown one at the moment!

I refuse to believe that he doesn't read RAWK. It's as if he has someone from P.R verseing him on how to get the fans on his side after how Hodgeson failed miserably.

It's like RAWK fanfic. Can just imagine Rodgers swooning over a pissed off Gerrard in the changing room afterwards.

"Stevie..." he says, fluttering his eyelashes at the scouse hero, "did it hurt when you fell from heaven?"

What's next?

"One thing you notice about Andy Carroll is that he likes the ball into feet."

"When you speak to Jamie Carragher, he makes a lot of sense."

???

"You can sum up Joe Allen in two words: passion. And aggression, and determination. Passion, aggression and determination and drive. Ok, so drive is the same as determination but you can't deny his symmetrical resonance within the group. And his passion (and drivertermination)."

I think there was a thread on RAWK that he gave an interview with the anfield wrap podcast which has some RAWK members involved.

So its quite possible he browses the website in his free time to gauge fan opinion. As you say, its where Hodgson failed.

Olly, please do a nice Photoshop of Rodgers and RAWK.

Wankers.

You lot just can't accept Stevie G was the difference between humiliation and defeat. #believe #thisisnteventwitter

“We have seen it before with (Villa striker Christian) Benteke, who after our game has disappeared."

Er, has he? He must only raise his game against the really top sides.

Wait, didn't he just score a cracking goal against derby rivals West Brom? No I must have imagined that. Brendan, just because you don't see Benteke doesn't mean he isn't there.

His delivery and tone of voice annoy me no end, he loves a Pinteresque pause.

I hope someone on RAWK points him to the Caf then:D

Rodgers will almost definitely browse forums to see what the fans are saying, especially after a win. He has a huge photo/painting of himself hanging up in his house ffs. Guy's ego is through the roof

I've never seen the famous portrait before. It's like one of those awful paint-by-numbers abominations they sell on RAWK.

also for

and

It's so bad. You can imagine him pacing up and down speaking to himself on the wall giving himself motivational speeches.
