Brentan Rodgers

Fine, more intelligent spending. They need a decent CB, DM and probably a striker too. That's a lot to invest in January if they want to salvage something from this season.
Would you trust Brentan with more money after the £200 million he's already spunked up the wall?

Plus a Goalie I would argue.

Very strange comments from Rodgers. It's eerily similar to the sort of shite Moyes was peddling out last season.

Rodgers and his players were talking like this was some kind of character-building statement of intent. They just drew against Bulgarian minnows. Astonishing. They've managed to actually out-delude their fans on RAWK.

Ludogorets were actually pretty shit this game. They played better at Anfield. Thankfully the dippers were even worse. Very dire game though.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, speaking to Sky Sports: "To go a goal behind so early on you really need a team that is together and I think the character of the team came out.

"We spoke before the game that this needs to be the night to change our season and for that we needed to show the character in our team. We are disappointed with the goal we conceded in the end but is irrelevant, we need to beat Basel in the final game."

More from Brendan Rodgers: "We showed wonderful resilience and scored two good goals.

"I picked players I know what they are capable of. In time the new players will adapt to how we work. This is a real confidence boost for us, because Ludogorets are a really difficult team to play against."

It's actually real

Moyes said some strange stuff but I find this one from Brentan even worse.

Is he? The game hasn't even started.

Pushed Gerrard up so just about saved his own skin. But then didn't sub him and Allen for fresh attacking legs. Stevie has some sort of contract that he will always play. It's damaging the club.

At this rate, it may not be long until we will have Steven Gerrard as player-manager for more entertainment purposes.

When I think of player-coach or player-manager, I have that funny image of Paul Newman as the ever funny Reggie Dunlop.

You missed his master stroke of taking off Sterling and replacing him with Moreno who subsequently lost his man at the near post for the equaliser.

Glad to hear it. I wouldn't trust that man with a transfer budget. I hope they pay some massive figure for Vermaelen. He's injury prone and he's inconsistent.
Now, that'd be a funny buy!
Isn't Vermaelen currently injured as we speak.
Rogers purchases so far have been Benitezesque, wouldn't be surprised if more than half are sold, allowing a few more million into the net spend kitty.

He's been even worse than Moyes. At both managing and talking shite.

Not at managing since Moyes did so terribly with us, and Rodgers had been doing well at Liverpool till now. Moyes had him firmly outdone for talking shite as well, although Rodgers seems determined to try and catch up.

Rodgers explained Sterling was having stomach pains and he wanted to come off. Even then we had two more subs we should have used.

His approach to try and take positives from these games is becoming quite strange. These players need a swift kick in the hole and to be dropped, not the arm round the shoulder... Anyway, long may it continue.

Rodgers:

"More like it. Wonderful character tonight. We really needed a team that was together and we got that. The characterisation of the team was really on show. Great effort tonight from the players. We were outstanding."

Who on earth says that? The man is ruining the English language.

And not substituting Gerrard... Stevie G has too much power imho. Not good.

Aye, even if he doesn't want to criticise individual players, it might benefit him to be a bit more critical of the sides overall performance which is not good enough for them right now.

He is. Out for a few months I think. Not an option for Fraudgers so.

Don't rule it out.
Fraudgers may be stupid in the transfer market, but when he makes a bid to Barca they'll probably just think he's trolling them. Who's stupid enough to bid on an injured player who's not back till Feb/March?
Oh wait......

Every fecking interview he says the same thing! "Great performance" "showed character"

I know he's trying to defend his players but feck me it's gone overboard now, he's losing his mind to me

He said he doesn't believe in over-thinking anything because it leads to negativity.

I think when you have weaknesses you should go as in detail as possible and give them great thought so you can maximise the chances of solving the problem in the shortest time possible, contrast this to Louis van Gaal who is never satisfied, he almost always says after a player puts in a cracking performance "he was good but he can do better I believe", in fact the only player I recall he has not said that about is De Gea.

Just watch LvG interviews and see how much he focuses on the problems he thinks we need to solve and also a Mourinho does that perhaps not so in depth in the interviews but you know he goes deep into the problems behind the scenes.

I really think Rodgers is wrong about thinking deeply and if he starts obsessing about his defence and set pieces then he will come up with and execute a solid plan to solve them, as of now all that self help is causing disillusion, he sees the negatives as positives.

Let's not forget he is only 41 so perhaps it's just a phase he will grow out of.

Henderson and Lambert's interviews were absolutely woeful

Embarrassing

Lambert's horrible nasally accent and pale ratty face coupled with his constant sniffing was really annoying me for some reason.

I think Pogue mentioned it in another thread but he had clearly written his post match comments out before the match had started and regardless of the performance or result he was going to recite it.

You mean Stephen Merchant had already written them out for him and he's no good at improv.
