If there's one thing you should *always* do as a football analyst, it's judge managers, players and teams based on a single game early in the season. So here goes.
Rodgers completely lucked out at Liverpool by inheriting Suarez and Sterling, and having Sturridge brought to the club allegedly against his wishes.
Those three, primarily driven by the world class performances of Suarez, went on to form a devastating attacking trio that almost fired Liverpool to a league title.
But with the loss of third-best-player-in-the-world Suarez, they are nowhere *near* as good, and plenty of Rodgers' own big money signings - Borini, Allen, Lallana, Aspas - have been questionable at best.
And so consequently, this season they may well find themselves sinking back to whence they came.

This was me in early September.
Still too early to say whether there's any truth in it?
