So, Sakho's starting regularly and performing like you'd expect of a France CB?

Genuinely curious, because I haven't heard many good things about him thus far, and I hope he wouldn't get by just by having that title.

He's not performing for us as well as he does at international level, nope. I'm not a huge fan of him really, prefer him over Skrtel but that's not a massive endorsement.

In his defence though, it's probably not a coincidence that all of our centre backs look worse under Rodgers than they did at previous clubs/under previous managers. As it is though, Sakho will probably leave next summer.

Lets face it, the only good buy was Sturridge. People keep mentioning Coutinho but he's been shit for a while now. Started very well yeah, but he hasn't been that good since. Moreno and Lallana could prove to be good (even if they did over pay for the latter). I'm not entirely convinced by Moreno though tbh.

Coutinho has been poor this season but he's a good signing for his price, does need to shake off his inconsistent streak if he wants to be a top player though.

I think Alberto Moreno will be a brilliant signing. He's the one player out of all our summer signings I was delighted with, and he's started very well.

Btw is he really injured??

I dunno. I thought Rodgers was just making it up to take him out of the spotlight while he was being disciplined. France didn't call him up for international duty though so maybe he really is injured...

Sakho getting the blame is a smokescreen for how poorly organized Liverpool's defense is and Gerrard not providing any real cover to the defense. And thats not even mentioning Mignolet's penchant for mistakes. A lot of times Sakho is stuck defending two players. Lovren has made way more mistakes than either Skrterl or Sakho.

yea Moreno is one of the better summer signings ur club made. Coutinho is not playing well b/c he hasn't had any game time. What happens to Gerrard once Emre can is fit?? And why did rodgers let Ibe go on loan when you could really use that pace on the wing?

What a cringeworthy prick he is. I never thought I'd see a manager who was more smug than John Gregory at Aston Villa, but this tosspot makes him look like Bobby Robson.

The new teeth, the perma-tan, losing weight, ditching his wife; the huge portrait of himself in his house, his deliberate attempts to turn every press conference into a collection of Haiku soundbytes. The man is a shameless self-promoting twat, who spent so long looking up to Jose Mourinho that he actually thinks he can become him by fixing his teeth and buying a new suit.

He's an absolute fraud, who got the luckiest break of all time for one season when he had one of the world's best players at the peak of his form; a Manchester United team in dissarray after losing Sir Alex Ferguson and a Chelsea team without a decent striker on their books.

I look forward to it all crumbling around him as the weeks go by

I have to say that I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I'm not blaming him for anything in particular. I'm questioning whether or not he was worth £15 million. The reports haven't been glowing, whatever his status as an international centre back.

Coutinho was bought by Kenny!

Edit: Appears I am wrong. He was bought by Rodgers. Sorry!

I'm sure Rodgers bought him in a January window.

Yeah Rodgers got him from Inter Milan. He was a promising lad who was affected by the constant churning of managers at Inter. For 8m I would call him a good buy.

Completely agree with the defensive summary. What's behind our CBs and infront of them are the root cause of our misery. Conversely, its an easy remedy. Get in Valdes (rumoured this month) and stop playing Gerrard every game and we'll look a much harder team to beat. Even Stevie is beginning to see how poor he's become in that position. That Basle game was almost the final nail.

From turning into a poor team, which we are now, to a top four team (which we should be) won't require £60m purchases. Thankfully still a long season and we haven't been left in everyone's dust just yet. I reckon those teams could regret not putting space between us and them by the time "we go again!"

Is he already back in training or still injured for weeks??

But anyway that would be a great transfer for Liverpool......Mignolet is mid-table level......it would help Skrtel/Lovren/Sakho so much if they have Valdes behind them instead of Mignolet

Its only from the Metro but the injury was in March according to this. Surely he's recovered?

Liverpool are reportedly hopeful of signing goalkeeper Victor Valdes within the next two weeks.

Valdes has been without a club since leaving Spanish giants Barcelona at the end of last season following 12 years at the Camp Nou outfit.

The shot-stopper was set on completing a move to French side Monaco but, after the 32-year-old suffered a serious knee injury in Barca’s league win over Celta Vigo in March, the deal fell through because of doubts over Valdes’ fitness.

However, The Express have claimed that Valdes will now sign for Liverpool – with Brendan Rodgers said to be confident that the Spaniard will be able to provide competition for The Reds’ current first-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

It is believed that Valdes will undergo a medical with the Anfield based outfit during the international break before being confirmed as a new Liverpool player afterwards.

"We're happy to sign Victor. We looked at may keepers and he was the last on our list."

Think of Fergie for a second....And ignore the 80's and 90's....

When the shit hit the fan in the last decade and he had to rebuild, he did! Magnificently.
Chelsea looked like they were going to destroy the league every season but, Fergie had his plans, and within 2 seasons, we were champions...And he made sure we stayed there!

And you think of all the shit and the grief he got from the media during that time.....Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge knew that Rio, Ronaldo, Rooney, Rossi, Saha and Evra would come good........Granted Rossi's game time just got limited, sadly for him and us in a way and to be fair, I doubt anyone heard of Vidic as such

Point is, Liverpool fans are saying Rodgers has to rebuild this team........Rebuild how exactly?!?! Because of Suarez?!?! One player???
Well, right now, he looks like an absolute tit. Them players are nowhere near Liverpool standard.
And he goes on as if he's some sort of genius in regards Balotelli... "Oh it's a calculated risk!" BOLLIX!!!
You shat yourself Brendan and panic bought! Simple as that!

Oh c'mon, would any self-adoring dickhead hang something like this in his crib? Jesus.

I wonder if he looks at the picture when he wanks?

Has he started to refer himself in the third person yet? Then the transformation would be complete.

On his enviable parting of the ways with Liverpool

"I don't look upon this like it's the end, I look upon it like it's moving on, you know. It's almost like my work here's done. I can't imagine Jesus going 'Oh, I've told a few people in Bethlehem I'm the son of God, can I just stay here with Mum and Dad now?' No. You gotta move on. You gotta spread the word. You gotta go to Nazareth, please. And that's, very much like... Me. My world does not end within Anfield. Liverpool's a big place. And when I've finished with Liverpool, there's Reading, Aldershot, Bury, you know I've got to go to... Swansea, again. You know. Because I am my own boss. I can wake up one morning and go 'Ooh, I don't feel like working today, can I just stay in bed?' 'Ooh, don't know, better ask the boss.' 'Brendan can I stay in bed all day?' 'Yes you can Brendan'...................Both me, that's not me in bed with another bloke called Brendan."

If they fail to beat West Brom today the pressure will build, especially with the international break. I believe Rodgers is already showing signs of not coping well, with his silly pronouncements about Sturridge and England.

He copes ok with the pressure of success, can he cope with the pressure of failure? If they don't beat West Brom at home today we may find out.

Yeah and he was spot on.

Any other manager could have told Van Gaal that, and they would still be spot on. It would've just been a bit less ridiculous if it came from someone who has actually won something.

Oh right...so it was ridiculous. Ok.

 Last season went to his head, the prick
Saying this league is difficult to get used to means success went to his head?

It was perfectly measured, normal and even predictable advice. It wasn't bombastic, self-aggrandising showmanship.

Bloody hell, on here if Rodgers so much as blows his nose it would be interpreted as a grotesque and obscene act of self-love.

Well, now you know. ;)

Anyway, remember when Brendan was giving Van Gaal advice?
I remember when half this site craved a manager who got his team to play entertaining, winning football. Six games into a new season and said manager is now the village idiot.

Can't say I ever said anything about wanting Rodgers as a United, if that's what you mean.

Anyway, I begrudgingly accepted that he got you lot playing brilliant football last season and after the years you had under Hodgson and Dalglish, I can understand your defending of him.

But I think @.Rossi pretty much summed up why some of us, me included, dislike Brendan Rodgers. He talks too much shite for someone who has done relatively little. That Spurs should be challenging for the title after spending 100m comment he made is starting to bite him on his arse.

Really? I remember the caf fawning over Rodgers most of last season

You can come up with any ridiculous thing and find some football fan who has said it, but I remember no such thing as "the caf" (collectively) fawning over Rodgers. I distinctly remember us calling him a charlatan and identifying the fact that Suarez was at least 50% of the substance of that Liverpool side. He's decent at formulating a frenzied attacking strategy when he has the best striker in the league at his disposal, but it's becoming increasingly evident that he's inept at everything else, from orchestrating a defense to transfers and man management.

West Brom is on a high after awesome display against Burnley. They probably will lose anyway, but being optimistic wouldn't be too crazy.

Liverpool have enough to beat West Brom. They were unlucky against Everton.
Brenton will be the messiah again by tomorrow. or hopefully just a very naughty boy

In fairness if you read the article (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/aug/05/liverpool-brendan-rodgers-louis-van-gaal) Rodgers was kind of proven right given so far we've lost to Leicester and Swansea. All he seemed to say is van Gaal would be surprised with how comptitive the league is and I'm sure he was surprised when we lost them 2 games. Nothing wrong with managerial mind games either, happens at every club and with every manager.

Really? I remember the caf fawning over Rodgers most of last season and wishing we had such a progressive manager instead of Moyes. The fact our team didn't look like it had a plan or obvious progression like his 7th finish team did was something used against Moyes frequently.

fecking hell..! I'm certain most of us were aware that Rodgers' season with Liverpool last year was a one off - once in a lifetime shot at the title. There were certainly no "fawning" from our side.

He won 5 out of 13 of his first Bundesliga games, he went on to win the league.

He won 3, drew 1 and lost 2 of his champions league group games, he scraped through his group with an unexpected away win at Juventus, he got to the final where he lost to a Mourinho parked bus in its second season of development.

I am not saying United will go onto win the league and I am obviously not saying they will get to the final of the champions league, I'm simply pointing out Louis van Gaal is not in strange waters, he has been here before and he predicted a difficult start to his premier league career in the summer after an excellent pre-season.

Rodgers is probably arguing it is less likely that Louis van Gaal will get his team to click and go on a winning run in the premier league (or take longer until it happens).

Yeah, I don't see the problem with Rodgers said there really.
