Brenton, “My biggest mentor is myself because I’ve had to study, so that’s been my biggest influence,” Rodgers in a nutshell . Amazing Olly.

Fletcher? Really?

Henderson has still been good for them despite their failings, at least what I've seen. He also has an eye for a killer pass that I've never seen from Fletcher.

Agree with that. He's not been great the last few games but Rodgers has to take the blame for that, he's been playing Henderson and Gerrard in a flat midfield two which doesn't suit either of them. Henderson is much better when he isn't forced to sit deep.

He really needs to use the squad better than he has done so far. Gerrard can't play midweek matches after playing the weekend and Sterling looks like he needs a bit of a break too.

Nonsense - Gerrard should continue playing every Liverpool match in his most recent position, especially midweek games and should never be subbed. Same with Sterling - when has relying massively on and continually playing a teenager ever not worked-out well? I'm sure Sterling benefited greatly from playing for two hours against a Championship side in the fecking League Cup.

I say let Brentan continue as he is.

Read that as straight from Rogers to Moyes, and didn't notice the Might Red bit until I had finished :o

Can't shake this feeling that he's just another Pardew with his first season as Newcastle manager. Punching above their height, then sliding down to obscurity.

Although 'the Yank' surely won't let that happened. That's the problem of hiring manager with no pedigree. They aren't allowed to have a 'break' season being mediocre.

What a cringeworthy prick he is. I never thought I'd see a manager who was more smug than John Gregory at Aston Villa, but this tosspot makes him look like Bobby Robson.

The new teeth, the perma-tan, losing weight, ditching his wife; the huge portrait of himself in his house, his deliberate attempts to turn every press conference into a collection of Haiku soundbytes. The man is a shameless self-promoting twat, who spent so long looking up to Jose Mourinho that he actually thinks he can become him by fixing his teeth and buying a new suit.

He's an absolute fraud, who got the luckiest break of all time for one season when he had one of the world's best players at the peak of his form; a Manchester United team in dissarray after losing Sir Alex Ferguson and a Chelsea team without a decent striker on their books.

I look forward to it all crumbling around him as the weeks go by

And it's not just since he took over at Liverpool, look at this from his Swansea days.

It is great for the public here at Sunderland to see us. They must have been wondering what this team everyone is talking about are all about and now they have seen. We were wonderful. Our intention is always to pass teams to a standstill, but give credit to Sunderland, they defended ever so well when other teams might have wilted.

Final score?! Sunderland 2 Swansea 0

A fraud!!

Other that that, he's a bit of a cnut, though.

There is some deep hatred here.

I cannot for the life of me see what's good about him. He makes lots of obvious mistakes and doesn't appear to know how to make a proper team function. He seems barely familiar with the concept of defending, he's not selecting or dropping the right players, he is tactically inept, and he has never won anything whatsoever.

I always think that the obscene amounts of ref gifts they got last year must have granted them at least (conservative estimate) six extra points throughout the season that, statistically speaking, is not normal for a team to get even when allowing for the typically fluctuating ref handouts throughout a season. With six points less, they'd have made fifth place and nobody would be hailing Rodgers as some kind of managerial hero.

Fifth place, with the best striker in the league and no other competitions to worry about, in a season where all the other big teams were crap, would not have been the least bit impressive. To then do so poorly in the transfer window would make him seem rather incompetent indeed.

I do find it fascinating that the two managers who were most lauded last season are now struggling a bit at the moment. I'd like to think it's not as simple as Brendan and Roberto both having European football to contend with.

He seems like a decent enough guy and the players seem to like him.
The fans love him, too. He gives them all positive feelings and never looks on the bad side.
He probably reminds them of their old probation officer.

You can't see what's good about him? Liverpool played some cracking football last season, and he did well with swansea as well. That's not worth anything? You can put a lot of things he achieved last season down to the players such as suarez, but you can't take all the credit away from him. He's clealdy a very very good coach at least in the attacking sense.

Agreed.

Well over-the-top post from that guy, and much more reactionary than any of the previous over-the-top posts about Rogers after his efforts with Liverpool/Swansea previously.

He's messaged me a couple of times that lad regarding giving the scousers a hard time, I was a bit scared at first getting messaged out of the blue by a newb but learned to take it as a compliment.
Now I'm just plain scared again, @Ole Gunner Scholes you mad bro.

Could be worse.
I used to PM someone on another forum, hourly, asking if he knew where Mel Gibson was..

That was you was it ? And for the last time I dont fecking know !!
He's gone all grey and beardy according to google though.

I remember I sent one, saying;

"Do you not think I'd be eating Mel's shit right now if I knew where he was?!?!. . ANSWER ME GOD DAMN IT!!!!"

Tried to have me banned many a time. Good times

That's got an edge that it's the clubs fault and not Brentans, you would think any manager worth his salt would put himself in the firing line rather than his club.

Just why though ?

I think a lot of it is a feeling of "order" returning somewhat after the tables being turned over the last year. And given the mocking United have gotten, it's understandable, albeit not exactly rational.

Having said that, I'm not completely convinced rodgers will be a top manager but I feel he has some of the attributes of one. There's a lot of managers who "impress" but not that many who achieve big things and win big things. Tony Pulis was brilliant last season. Roberto Martinez transformed a team faster than I've ever seen. Michael Landraup looked like a top manager in the making with swansea. Basically, a lot of managers do well in the short term and even do great things, but it's very hard to judge which of them will reach the highest level. What I will say with regards to both rodgers and martinez, is that their football philosophy in an attacking sense is top manager material. So at Least with them, as opposed to someone Pulis, there is that basis which allows them to be conducive to coaching top players. But that is just a requisite. There's a lot more that goes into making a top manager and the next 3-4 years will give the true picture for most of these managers.

Also I think this year is a big one for Rodgers. Not decisive but very important. If we beat them to 4th, given the way we're spending, and the big names were able to attract, it could be tough for them to get back in quickly. Obviously you could turn that around and say that if we miss out two years in a row, some of our big players will want out and others won't want to come anymore. It could be a key season either way, at least in the shirt term.

It looks like he's already willing to throw Balotelli under the bus.

The question mark over Brentan is surely that he has never really built a team before, and that is what he is having to do.

Swansea's core was already there, and arguably so were their tactics. Last year it was the players bought before he turned up, barring Sturridge, who had them going well in the League.

This year the focus of the team is gone to Barca, and now hes having to build a new team. And hes cocking it up.

Needs two things, director of football and a defensive coach.

I Agree, I would add Arsenal into the mix too. 3 teams fighting for 2 places (3rd and 4th). One is going to finish 5th or lower and it will be very bad news for them. I predict it will be Liverpool to be honest.

He's basically saying this Belgian lad is what they need right now, so he's getting his excuses in early.

When they signed him Rodgers came out and spoke so highly of himself saying he'll get the best out of him. It was almost like an ego boasting pet project. By saying what he's said he's just telling everyone that he's failing.

Arsenal will still be okay I think if they miss out. Financially they've got enough fire power to blast themselves back in if it goes wrong for one season.

Liverpool are fecked though if we're back in at their expense. Champions League income is going to increase next season and they can't afford to miss out on it, as they can't compete against us commercially. Then isn't there talk of this stadium expansion? That will also eat into their resources.
