Ffs

That GIF is fantastic

In regards to Brentan, When I seen him do that on Saturday it was clear his level of smugness has gone through the roof

That makes Danny Welbz look lethal. The only good game I've seen from Balotelli was against Spurs, that was also the only game I saw him with Sturridge so hopefully the fun won't end when he's back from injury.

Apparently he said Sturridge will not be fit for England even if he is fit to play for Liverpool this weekend.

I would imagine if he is available for the Liverpool squad to play a part in their game this weekend then he also is fit enough to play a part in England's games, unless Rodgers is suggesting international football requires higher levels of fitness than the premier league?

If Sturridge plays this weekend Hodgson has every right to call him up. Rodgers sounds a bit desperate here.

He's probably scared that he gets inured again with England, thus fecking Liverpool up.

Can we apply the same logic to Jones if he plays this weekend?

To be fair to Rodgers, logically speaking, if it was a Champions League game mid week next week and Rodgers played him at the weekend, it's unlikely he'd be fit enough to play in it coming off the back of a few weeks injured.

England play 5 days after Liverpool play and even if he can't play in that game he should be available for Estonia which is 8 days afterwards.

If he is fit enough to play for United then yes, he is fit enough to play for England against Estonia.

I have sympathy with him here, trying to view it with no club loyalty.

I wouldnt be happy with Sturridge being called up, chances are Hodgson being the clown he is would play him till he broke down again.

Fair enough, hadn't actually looked at the timescale. Just assumed that with Liverpool playing on Saturday it would be a Tuesday/Wednesday game. As it is I completely agree with you, he should definitely play some part.

Suppose the logical normal thing is that Studge does 45mins-60mins in his first few games back. Brenty doesn't trust the Owl to adhere to that, if things are going badly against Estonia & San Marino (??)

Also, Studge might overplay himself if there's goals to be had.

This is why BR assembled all that great depth in his world class strike force in the summer.

I don't see how it is any different to Phil Jones who is rumoured to be in the England squad also.

Although Roy has all the right in the world to play him, it would be silly to bring a recently injured player to play against teams that your team surely will beat without him.

If Jones is fully fit then I'll be glad he's getting the games.
Which will probably end up being the case for Sturridge as well. If he's fit enough to play for Liverpool, the England games will probably end up helping with match fitness. It is unlikely that either will end up playing 90mins.

What he did wrong was to spout off about it the media, even if he might have been asked about it. He should have a private word with Woy about it. At the end of the day, if he's back fully fit, then he will need some game time to get his full match fitness back, so a couple of run outs against weak international opposition ought to be good for him.

If England ignored the special training instructions that Sturridge uses at Liverpool and he was injured as a result then I totally understand why Rodgers is saying he won't be fit for England duty. It might be a bit petty but you can see why he's saying that.

If it was a Utd player in a similar situation and Van Gaal was doing the same I'd be backing Van Gaal.

Yeah of course the physios and medical staff at clubs will know their players far better than their England equivalents would as they work with them day in, day out and tailor their training plans specifically for each player.

Rodgers is in a bit of a conundrum here as he's desperate to get Sturridge back as they have been suffering a lack of goals, but even if they bring him on off the bench against West Brom then Hodgeson will see it as a green light to run Sturridge into the ground again.

What he should have done was say nothing at all, play him for 60 minutes against west brom, then say he has a slight strain and isnt available.

What he has done by saying 'he cant play for England' is basically challenge the FA's authority. Hes daring them to select Sturridge publicly.

That is, again, just piss poor management and smacks of egotism. Rogers is a dick.

Haven't some teams tried this already and England made the player travel to the training camp to be assessed by their own medical staff.

As said earlier in the thread, he's a man starting to believe his own bollocks
