Television Breaking Bad

I'm a bit confused about Skylar's motivations. Not so long ago she hated Walt and wanted him dead, now it seems to be Skylar and Walt vs Hank and Marie. Flipping on Walt and protecting herself would have been the best option for her.

I presumed it was because she's in too deep now - Hank was working under the presumption she found out very recently, when she walked into the pool, whereas she obviously found a lot earlier and got involved in the laundering of the money. She was basically in a stick or twist situation of stick and probably get a short prison sentence by testifying against Walt, losing all the money in the process, or twist on the fact that Hank doesn't actually have anything proper to pin down on Walt and if he can't get anything they'll be relatively free, for now at least.

I certainly can't see Jesse ratting Walt out, not this early. Certainly not to Hank anyway. I expect he'll be far more a feature of the next episode as he practically wasn't in this one, I don't think he actually said a word. Frankly I think they may have given themselves too much to do in the last 6 episodes, rather than making the season too long as was suggested above. What with Jesse in a catatonic state, the Lydia/Todd storyline of which we're not aware how exactly its going to relate to Walt, Hank and Marie knowing about Walt, Walt Jnr (who strangely wasn't in this episode) still not knowing, not too mention the flash forward. There's a lot to get through in 6 episodes there.

It's doing The Shield/Sopranos route with it's ending.....but both of those final seasons(though the Shield ended up actually splitting them in official purposes rather 6a and 6b) felt too long imo, this will too. I mean all things considered, still 3 of the best final seasons ever(I can only assume with BB), but just being nitpicky, because why not?

As a slight correction, The Shield's 6th season was originally intended as the second half of season 5.

In the case of Breaking Bad, I don't find the bookends of a "season" all that relevant. This show is one deliberate arc spanning its first season to its final season, and where the breaks come in don't really matter that much. Only the end of season 2 has ever really felt like a logical season-ender, while contrarily you could combine seasons 3, 4 and the first episode of season 5, for example, and it would make sense being a single season.

"I'll send you to Belize" was one of my favourite lines in the show to date.

I loved that line as well, it sort of felt like it wasn't written into the script the way it was said.

Thought that was another good episode, but I really thought there was more time left when the credits started to roll. I hate being left hanging! It's not so bad when you expect it but when it just jumps up on you it's a ballache.

Also, this may have been the best scene in the entire series.

 Yep

"I'll send you to Belize" was one of my favourite lines in the show to date.

But maybe I'm biased as I love every single scene that Saul is in. He's superb.

Saul is magnificent, really. One of the best characters in the show. And yep, trip to Belize was a great line.

Are people actually rooting for Walt at this point? I'm full on team Hank by now.

#TeamWalt

I'm actually leaning towards Walt winning, or whatever. Maybe not completely off the hook, but at least something good coming out of all his cuntishness. But at the same time I would like to see a good mental ending, so I suppose I don't really care who wins as long as it's gripping.

The Shield spoiler!
Kind of the way Vic Mackey won at the end of The Shield, he lost everything that he had worked for and done all the bad things for. And all the rest of the gang got severely fecked over. Probably my favourite finale of anything ever.

Also, the Bill Burr character, Kuby (did you know his name was Kuby?) is one of my favourites. Only did three scenes but he's ace. Part of what makes Saul's whole operation work. Did the Car wash/water scene, the train scene and the Beneke scene and he's brilliant in them all. I was a little disappointed with him last night, stealing from Walt and all.

Bill Burr is great, can't have a Monday without his podcast.

Huell and Kuby are great little cameo scene stealers.

Always thought Todd was a potential big player in this. He gets the job done. Apart from when he sets fire to the lab.

I want Hank to "win" but I think what was interesting last night was when Walt said he'd turn himself in he again showed his true motives, it may have been greed but all he does want is a future for his children and a life for them to not struggle in, it did show the original character of Walter White rather than the character of Heisenberg he has become.

I liked last nights episode, a lot has happened over the 2 now which I didn't expect, it actually has progressed really quick really. Walt has been found out, everyone knows about it (well, by next week I assume Jesse knows about Hank) and it is set up to be a really good finale. I'm probably also one of a few but I like the Lydia stuff as well, think it will be interesting how the 2 stories wrap up together which I assume may be the direction it takes.

What I liked about last night is they didn't leave themselves in any potential plot holes, not like they ever do. The stuff about Hank losing his job for example was good as it shows they actually did think about it. It kind of sets the show up for a really dark ending. Hank losing his job, Walt and maybe even his family dying and also something may happen to Jesse (who I'm finding ridiculously tedious to watch at the moment so hopefully the Hank stuff makes him more interesting) the only person who may actually get some kind of good ending is Saul!

Nah, think she's a great character. Really is hard to believe she's Scottish!

Bit biased maybe because she bears an absolutely striking resemblance in a lot of ways to an ex (who I regret ballsing it up with looking back!), but aside from that I think she plays the anxious type very well. It's a role that could've easily been a bit out of synch and overcooked but it seems like they even got her to intentionally tone it up a notch when you look at her original auditions:

She's a lot more of a mess in the program than that. The best one is Dean Norris' audition as Hank - it looks like he's been playing the role for years already.

Pretty much. I still see the cancer-ridden under-achieving school teacher who had little choice to do anything else.

That facade ended towards the end of series 2.

But as he said last night, "Please don't let this all have been for nothing." I really hope some good comes of it. The work he's done, the things he's done and put himself and his family through, there needs to be some benefit to it.

Crime doesn't pay. And no one really likes Skyler or Walt Jr anyway. Why would you want them to benefit? Surely the "good" would be justice for all his 'victims' at this point?

#TeamWalt
The first time I watched the series, I was shouting for Hank come the end of the S5a. Having re-watched it again in recent weeks, I'm now leaning towards Walt.
#TeamWalt

You're the kind of people that'd join the Manson family.

But it's just that he's not a bad man. He's like any one of us who've been made to face their mortality. Then again, I'm a believer in fate, so my view is that Walt had little say in what went on after his diagnosis; this whole situation's been forced upon him, and he's made the best of it. Just me though I guess.

Linda Kasabian is a grand-aunt of mine.

We might already be in the Manson family...tread lightly.

I bet you liked the Star Trek scene an all.

Remind me to never hire you as my lawyer.....Actually, wait. No, be my lawyer. I'm just gonna go and poison some children.

Great episode. I cracked up laughing at the Scrooge McDuck scene

I fecking love this show, but these cliffhanger type endings need to feck off when I'm watching week to week, I can't handle it, I need to be able to put the next episode on right now and see what Hank says to Jesse.

I hope this picks up soon and the last 3/4 episodes are one giant rollercoaster.

What the feck is Landry doing in breaking bad

Good episode overall.

Hank's becoming more and more like a protagonist of the show almost. He was always a good person and always important, but I'm fully rooting for him against Walt now.

Don't really see the arguments about Walt's action being justifiable either. I can see why he did it at the start and his motivations were understandable at the start, but he openly refused help from his old Science friends with the Austrian sounding surname I kind of forget, and he carried on after he made his money. He may have his pride, but he's let it destroy others. He's condoned the killing of a child, nearly killed another, watched someone die and was indirectly responsible for a train crash. If Hank exposes Walt then he probably loses his job. That's another example of how Walt's pride has been destroying the lives of others.

Oh, and Huell has a glorious head. Still. That scene with him lying on the money was great. I hope him and his friend are in a lot of this Saul Goodman spin-off.

I only started to watch this from scratch about 6 weeks ago and eventually caught up to the last screened episode tonight, totally mesmerising TV, cannot think of a superlative good enough to describe it. I've a gut feeling from the flash forward that Walt is going to be the only main character to survive but so many surprises and twists have happened so far, who knows.

"If that's true — if you don't know who I am — then maybe your best course would be to tread lightly" is one of the darkest, and the most threatening lines ever written. Great stuff.

BB, how I have missed you. Bought this t shirt the other day, arrived just in time :-) :
