Television Breaking Bad

A man has been found guilty of trying to buy deadly ricin poison from the Dark Web after being inspired by the hit US television series Breaking Bad.

Mohammed Ali, 31, was convicted at the Old Bailey of attempting to possess a chemical weapon after around five and a half hours of deliberations by a jury.

Ali, from Liverpool, struck a deal with a supplier to buy 500mg of powder - enough to kill 1,400 people.

He was unaware that his source was in fact an FBI agent.

The trial heard the father-of-two was sent harmless powder hidden inside a toy car.

Ali told jurors he was just "curious" and wanted to test the boundaries of the Dark Web, and was unaware that ricin was illegal.

He told the court: "I was interested in the Dark Net and ricin. I just wanted to know what the fuss was about.

"I found lots of different items ranging from drugs, guns, other illegal items, and because I had been watching Breaking Bad TV show I just had ricin in my mind.

Ozymandias has fallen to 9.9 on IMDB ratings.

It was a good run at the full 10, but after 68,358 reviews it's lost it's perfect score.

The joint best episode of television I've ever seen, along with the concentration camp ep in Band of Brothers.

Watched the finale today after watching the last 3 series I missed over the past few days and found out that today is Walt's birthday.

Great series which ended at the right time.

As the show went on, Walt got more and more greedy with money being all that mattered to him. In the final few episodes he was looking to get his money back and revenge on Jack, Todd and the rest. When he was stood over Jack with Jack saying if Walt killed him, Walt would never know where the money was, Walt didn't care and shot him anyway. It got to the point where Walt knew he was dying and that it was the end of the road and just wanted to kill them as his final act.

Interesting seeing how the characters divide opinion so much. I'm on the side where at the end Walt comes off a lot worse than Jesse. Jesse wanted out but ended up being enslaved and seeing the women he loved die. Good to see him being the one who killed Todd.

Is 56 what he'd be in 2015? He was 50 at the start of the show, right? And turned 52 they day/week he died?

Just completed watching this, the best i had seen so far.The twist it takes on are perfectly timed, plots are brilliant. They made it sure that each season ended on perfect note so the suspense and waiting made this even better.Mr.White and Pinkman are the two character i liked most, especially Mr.White's acting was simply amazing.Best season for me has to be S5-4-2-3-1 in order.

I thought the twins were one of the weakest parts of the show. They seemed to just be there so they could look cool and walk away from explosions. The scene with Hank in the car park was good, but the "no, too easy" was silly and they weren't really good villains seeing as they died half way through the season anyway and never spoke. The opening scene of season 3 with them crawling to the top was really bad too. Just seemed very cliché to me in a show that was usually good at avoiding clichés.

Havent read the whole thread but it would be interesting to see how that varies for people who watched week on week vs those who binged.

I had 4,1,3,5,2 (though 1,3,5 could be interchangeable). I felt 2 was the weakest and 4 was the strongest though.

I don't know if I'd called any of the seasons weak, but there were definitely weak elements within the show.

Namely the plane crash and all the flash forwards that led up to it, that was the single worst thing they did.

I also agree with @Cina that the cousins were a bit lame.

Second half of season 5
Season 4
Season 1
Season 3
Season 2
First half of season 5

I watched the whole 5 season in period of 3 weeks and i see S5 with two many events unfolding in a short duration. Also i don't see weakness in any season, but may be as others said Air crash might be the weak link.

Don't think Season 2 was the weak link. Probably the toughest season to watch back though simply because of the Jane stuff. Had to take a few weeks off of watching the show when that happened.

I know, she was fit

I lost interest In this. I went on a marathon and watched 3 seasons and couldn't be bothered with the rest.

Most overrated show possibly ever.

You stopped right when it got good. The best seasons by far are 4 and 5! It is different league. If you got this far do yourself a favor and at least get through season 4, where it all starts coming together.

Watched it about a year ago, goes up with Game of Thrones as the best shows I have seen.

Absolutely. Everyone else is wrong and your opinion is correct!

it's overrated in that it's constantly listed as the best show ever when in reality it's probably more top 10, but that doesn't mean it's not still a great show.

I hope you are all watching Narcos on Netflix.

Not sure about all the hatred for the Plane Crash, nothing wrong with it imo.

I'm sick of you posting stuff I agree with.

I remember while watching it at the time, not liking the 1st part of Season 5 very much as it was such a severe shift in Walt's character. By all the responses here, maybe I need to re-watch it again. Loved Season 4 and the 2nd part of Season 5 though. The show was excellent overall, and don't get why some of you are saying it's overrated. Even if it's not the greatest show of all-time (think it's right below The Sopranos, Mad Men, and The Wire myself), it's daft to let others' opinions affect your own. If nobody was really talking about Breaking Bad, many of the usual tv snobs on here would likely be less critical of it. Didn't have an issue with either the plane crash or the twins myself.

I watched it right upto the point where gus was thinking about killing both Walt and Jesse whichever season that was. Since that point I didn't get any time to watch due to real life commitments and that was a couple of months ago, I actually forgot all about it tbh this thread reminded me.

I will probably go back to it at somepoint but as of now I'm not really fussed.

My opinion is correct because it's MY opinion. I don't have to like a tv programme just because everyone else does. I'm not saying it's a bad show by any means but it doesn't deserve the hype it gets (again my opinion). Some people think walking dead is boring and too drawn out but I've loved every episode of that so far. I'd rate that higher than BB.
