Brazil v Argentina

You've missed the point, completely.

Anderson has literally stuck to Messi and it's working so far. Messi's had a few opportunities when others have lost the ball but he's not lost Anderson once which is hugely encouraging.

Don't know about, spotted a few times where Anderson has been sucked into play and lost Messi. Mind, he's still doing a better job than most I've seen this season against Messi.

Why the hell has anderson become a defensive midfielder, its ruining him. dont think he was ever one in brazil? so why didnt he stay as an attacking mid/wing forward?
Was it porto who started it? i know we used him in that role last season and now idiot dunga thinks he should be a def mid.....shit.

He hasn't become a defensive midfielder. He's just been given a job by Dunga today and it's been done well so far. If you leave Messi unmarked, he will destroy you. Anderson's been given the role because he's the only one capable of it in the Brazil team, even if it is not the position in which he should be employed in the future.

There is more to football believe it or not than bursting past players and shooting from 30 yards.

I suppose that what we must take into account that Messi really is something special. You could put several players on him and he'd still show signs of absolutely brilliance. :D

Spot on. If you ask Dunga which player that has been given the most important role this match he will answer Anderson.

No he hasnt followed messi everywhere and messi has been argentinas biggest threat. i agree hes been given a defensive directive but hes capable of so much more in attack and can cover back to defend when needed. brazils system is so rigid, its not the brazillian way really. thats what you get for putting an ex defensive player in charge its stunted the total football that has served brazil so well down the years.

I don't like this role that Anderson is playing either, but he has shackled Messi fairly well. Messi has only gotten free in other areas of the field.

To me, Anderson is having to be too disciplined in this set up. When he gets the ball, he is playing a simple 5 yard pass each time. There is no dynamic running or attempts at incisive passing. Playing down the left side means this is a necessity though because Ronaldinho and Marcelo are fairly gung-ho.

Keep up.

We are not good enough to win things this season, as it is.

I see, undeniable logic right there.

We should probably go out and buy Messi as we clearly need a winger, then we need an attacking midfielder because Anderson, Scholes, Carrick and Hargreaves just don't cut it. And who can forget, we are in desperate need of a striker, we might even finish second if we don't get all of those three.:nervous:

Yes he has. It's obvious that Dunga is not the man for Brazil, but this doesn't change the fact that if you leave Messi unmarked, he'll end up dismantling the team.

Ronaldo isn't a match for this kid in terms of natural ability. I wouldn't really be surprised if he went and single-handedly won the match for Argentina in the second half.

That's a bit of a childish comment in fairness. Anyone has a right to wonder why an attack-minded midfielder has been given the role of defensive man-marker.

Because he has played brilliantly as a defensive-minded midfielder in a very difficult league for the Champions of Europe, and he is the most combative and energetic player in the Brazil midfield. Seems fair enough to me.

Fair enough, no need to criticise the player though for doing the job hes been given.

We NEED a right back, an attacking midfielder, a winger and a striker.

If not, we will fail this season.

That is clear enough.

Hint of a hand ball? Not that he seemed to know much about, looked like he just leaned into the cross and it went in off his arm.

Of course, how could I forget a right back. Wes Brown isn't good enough to play for us and Neville's past it. We should have bought Daniel Alves for £25m. I blame Fergie, he seems to have no idea what he's doing any more the senile old bastard.

I thought so, hard to tell on a stream though and none of the Brazilians seemed to complain. Did well to get into that position, Brazil were all over the place.

Anderson or Lucas at fault for either of these goals?

if brazil gets beaten will anderson be back for the pompy match on monday?????

Anderson or Lucas at fault for either of these goals?

Wouldnt say so. More the back four, especially Marcelo for the first and the centre backs for the second. Anderson is doing his job, Lucas is pretty anonymous. Defence is a mess.
