Brazil v Argentina

I was supporting brazil through out the 90's but brazilian supporting bandwagon these days is the most vomit inducing aspect of international football.

Their style of football has stooped down to new lows and hardly it has any flair. Even the 98' team or the 99' Copa America team when with an array of best players around , they didn't play sexy football. Part of that should be attributed to defensive tactics from the managers.

The death of flair football began when they appointed Parreria as the manager of 94 WC, the first manager to take charge of the Brazilian National team without any playing experience

Wait till Riquelme calls it a day. The flair of Argentina is down to him and Messi

Anderson played OK but I'm not sure what to make of seeing him follow Messi around most of the time. Dunga has some strange ideas.

Ronaldinho showed nothing and was outshone by Messi. It was a poor effort from Brazil.

Hmmm look closely again. Messi was at the centre of all 3 goals :D

I saw a 20 minutes headlight of the game, I didn't even notice Anderson. He was never close to Messi. They must have edited all anderson interventions out!

Anderson didn't really make any interventions. He basically ran into Messi or kicked him.

Anderson was not much better than anyone else for Brazil. He showed more determination but was chasing the ball most of the game and i think he got booked for persistent fouling. He honestly commited at least 10-15 fouls.

Argentina were a step above. Riquelme and Messi were always a threat and showed alot more individually than the whole brazil team combined.

Messi was integral. Not sure how people figure that by Anderson chasing him around and running into him with some sort of perverse bullying tactic was nulling his threat.

The first goal was Messi picking it up deepish and running at the defense attempting a one two. The return pass missed him and went out to De Maria? and he hammered it across for Aguero to belly in.

Second goal was Messi dribbling in the box and laying off for the overlap down the right, another hammered cross and another Aguero touch.

Third was messi cutting in from the left beating a couple of players and playing a smart pass into the box for Aguero who showed good control before being fouledm Riquelme being captain chose to take the pen and scored.

Messi will win player of the tournament and maybe even top goal scorer, he's been a joy to watch not only in his attacking skill but his work rate. When ever he loses the ball he always chases back and usually wins it back. He wins the ball for his team very often which is strange compaired to other flair players.

Great, gotta love Anderson:drool:

Argentina were far superior to Brazil. Their squad is basically just far stronger. I think they will thrash Nigeria in the final and I hope they do.

I thought Anderson did a pretty handy job man marking Messi. Fairly quiet game by Messi's standards.

Tad hypocritical don't you think? Unless you're Brazilian, but I'm pretty sure you're not.

I think on another day he would have been sent off.

He was poor, he almost gifted the argies a goal and his passing when in the final 3rd was crap.

He is a great box to box attacking mid, energy in abundance but for whatever reason dunga had him shadowing messi and to be honest he stopped Messi by fouling him and that is all.
