Did really well against two tricky customers in CHO and Pulisic. He won’t have many tougher opponents, he’ll be just fine.

I’d make him our first choice LB/ LWB over this Christmas period at least. Fat Luke has his work cut out.

Defensively he was good but for some reason he didn't contribute anything in the attack, just played it safe by either passing the ball back or just passing the ball to nearest player even when he received passes in promising position. Maybe it's just nerves, playing away at Bridge. Decent contribution overall.

Looked very good today. I honestly wouldn't mind him ahead of Shaw, looks cool and calm with great pace.

His reaction to the winner was great. Really enjoying watching this guy play. Looks to have exactly what we need.

Didn’t feel like our left hand side was as solid as the right. Partly down to the support of Rojo but he was bypassed easily on occasions and allowed a lot of crosses to get in. A bit of a dodgy moment the time he cleared on the ground when Romero was in a better position to clear. Would like to see more of him attacking on the outside. Great engine on him though, no reason not to stay in the side.

Didn't get forqard as much as he'd have wanted to, which is obviously taking away from his game, but I felt he defended well when we were up against. Wasnt getting much protection when we were using a 3412, but as I said I felt he coped well.

Maybe its a confidence thing, he is much better going forward than what he has shown. Kept it simple and did his job defensively well.

Might also been playing under instruction due to the quality of the opposition.

I’m so happy to be seeing him doing so well in the first team, if people like him now wait till you see how passionate he can get, the kid bleeds United. He was one of the most likeable United players in the youth team. Shaw needs to be looking over his shoulder.

Probably a confidence thing, usually he is great in attack but can make mistakes in defence. He just looks like he wants to be solid in defence and not make any mistakes right now. With confidence and once he settles down to this level of football he will start showing his attacking threat.

Yeah, he was one of my favorite players in the youth teams. He has got fantastic engine, running up and down the wing all day.

Tbf, if Shaw keeps getting injured then he needs to be replaced.

Struggled for 20 mins after half-time when Chelsea attacked with two players down their right. Apart from that, I thought he did well. Some good defending, though a bit careless to give them the ball immediately after his super interception. Fortunate the referee didn't spot him helping Hudson-Odoi off the pitch, which was overly aggressive to say the least.

Can't ask for much more from an academy player starting his 2nd game at fecking Stamford Bridge. Thought he was fantastic.

Positionally suspect on a few occasions but was fearless throughout and made a fair few massively important defensive contributions.

Thought he was great today, yes as some have said he needs to work on a few bits, but that's called development, as a young player he seems to be improving with every game, which is the main thing.

For those who are saying he didn't attack as much this game, we really don't know what were the tactical instructions he had to carry out were. With Pulisic and CHO attacking his wing, he might well have been told to concentrate his efforts on defending.

Great prospect, and was really nice to see him and our younger players going up against Lampard's youngsters (who I think the media are over rating) and beating them.

Really like the look of him. Quick and aggressive in all aspects of his game. Seems to have a steely mentality too.

Great game from Brandon. Love his passion and ethic. Must be ahead of Shaw and young definitely

I think anyone that watches the youth teams will not be surprised at how he’s performing! Captained the younger sides and has a winning mentality! He seems to be controlling his aggression too as he always seems to be borderline red card when playing the youth games (particularly against Liverpool ;)

He’s got to be the end of Luke Shaw.

Shaw is never fit and seems to have a questionable attitude.

Does he usually play at LB in the youth team?

Personally I'd prefer a left footed LB to give our flank balance since all our wingers and left sided attacking midfielders are right footed bar Pogba

I was actually disappointed with him as a wing back today. He had several chances to take on his opposing fullback but didn't instead choosing to play the safe pass. Overall he was decent defending but he bottled it attacking today

Pogba is also right footed my friend;)
Williams looks really good so far, very promising defensively. One part of his game i haven't seen enough yet is his crossing. How would you lads who has seen him regulary rate him at crossing?

Is it also the case that he is a true manc? Wikipedia says yes.

Was sensible in his play. No naivety in his play in over committing as such in his most challenging game to date.

Got a lot of time for this kid.

Feel confident in saying we don’t need another LB as he’s going to be pushing for a regular starting place soon. Just need to take our time with him so he can gain experience.

Shaw, I don’t dislike him. It’s just he misses far too many games and we can’t be having that.

He was alright tonight, not bad, not good. But he's got spirit. Wasn't too happy with his needless challenge on Hudson-Odoi, could have been much worse. But the kid is a fighter and it's so good to have an alternative to a perpetually injured Shaw and a limited Young.

A promising player. Perfectly comfortable for young to be on his bike in the summer now as we dont even need to sign cover

Unsure if this was posted elsewhere, but just look at his reaction to the goal here in the first clip.

Just impossible not to love. I know some people are urging caution with him and rightfully so, but I think there is also a case for just trusting him to be as good as it looks like he can be. We're Manchester United, we have a great academy, it makes logical sense that a player comes of age and is just naturally ready to make the step up. Trent Alexander Arnold made his debut away, at old Trafford, and has never once looked out of place in the Starting XI for Liverpool. Different players, but there's no reason Williams can't step up in a similar way.

Not sure why I wrote Pogba when I was thinking Mata :wenger:

Since Evra left the club, we have been searching for a proper replacement. Shaw I don’t feel will ever be that man but I feel BW will be.
At 19 we have a real player on our hands and his potential is huge. I’ve been first to moan about the clubs lack of good scouting in recent years whilst teams like Leicester have bought well - such as Chilwell. Hopefully, BW can grow and make the LB a lot his own because I see many similarities between him and Chilwell - who I think is England’s best LB.
Exciting times to have another great academy player in the first team.

I actually thought Williams - Rojo was the weak link defensively. I thought CHO and James worked our left too easily. James got 7 crosses in and CHO 9 (although he took corners and switched to the left at the end). I thought a few of James crosses were pretty dangerous as well but not properly attacked.

All teams target our left. Why would you continuously concede possesion to Wan Bissaka in the right?

I thought it was a great battle on the left and often he was facing two quality wingers with no support.

Not perfect but certainly better than Shaw and Young. Shame hes not a full lefty as it did seem to stifle him going forward

Chelsea had almost all of their attacks on Uniteds left side, plus Rojo /Williams havent had much match time together compared to Bissaka/ Lindelof. Think he did great even though there were a few crosses he could have stopped.

Never stopped Denis.
