Gaming Bloodborne (PS4)

So I just got the game and I'm stuck in the first section.

I just killed the two wolves on the bridge and unlocked the gate shortcut to the left of that lantern. Trouble is it seems like I'm going in circles. Where do I go to get to the first boss?

Also, I lost my blood echos in this one area after dying, but its no longer there - what gives?

First boss is just ahead of those wolves at the end of the bridge.

Your echoes can sometimes be consumed by an enemy. You have to kill said enemy.

Oh, no idea why I missed it

As for the blood echos, I killed everyone in the area I died in but still no where to be found. Ahh well it was only around 2000

Did you die again before you got back to the echoes?

Beat Darkbeast Paarl, hes really easy if you have a hard hitting weapon and focus on hitting his legs until he crumbles down. Try to stay underneath him to avoid getting hit rinse/repeat. I wandered through the first Chalice Dungeon and its a nice change of pace from playing the normal game although I felt it was a tad too easy maybe because its just Depth 1 or because i've levelled up so much.

I also went through the forbidden woods (I hate snakes) and I was astonished as to how big the area is. I dont think I managed to go everywhere but I did face off the Shadow of Yarhnam boys. Very easy fight I took them out with Ludwig's blade one by one, it was easier that way than try to kill them all at once. I killed the guy with the triple yoga fire, then the guy with the regular sword that does 3 hit combos and then lastly the guy with the flaming something. I beat this one while I was in bed about to sleep so its pretty fecking easy.

Actually the game has been easy for the past couple of bosses. The witches and the shadow boys were piss easy. Paarl is tough but once you figure out what to do hes pretty easy too. I hope Byrgenwerth is a little tougher.

It is. Not so much the boss but the area. And also the following, the Unseen Village and the Upper Cathedral Ward. I'm at the latter and I really, really hate those insight sucking bastards.

All the difference. You only get one chance at getting your blood echoes back.

Oh for reals?!

Isn't that a bit shitty with bosses, since you're inevitably going to die a couple of times before getting it right? And does that you mean you should pretty much be obliged to spend them as soon as you get them?

Bosses never consume them so they'll usually lie on the floor where you died so you can pick them up reasonably easy. But yes, as a rule of thumb, you should if possible use your echoes as soon as you have enough to level up.

For me the system works. I'd be extremely overleveled by now if my echoes kept lying there for me to pick up regardless of how many times I died.

Just managed by first one-attempt kill of a boss, the Celestial Emissary! That was really easy. I think I'm down to five or six bosses left now.

Nearly every boss fight assuming you have opened up shortcuts should only be a quick sprint to your nearest lantern. So Yes spend all your echoes before fighting the boss

Gotcha.

Just curious if you guys use the R2 attack regularly? Right now I only use it for sneak attacks. Is it useful to use in active combat?

Also, I've noticed I pretty much never use the long-range option on my cleaver, anyone else actually use it? And in what situations do they find it most useful?

To be honest, my only real tactic is just using the pistol to riposte (which works around half the time) while rolling around and taking cheap slashes until everything dies.

Depends on your play style and the weapon your using. Personally, I use the transformed version of my weapon (Ludwig's blade) much more than the normal version + gun. I prefer landing heavier shots (using charged R2) than getting visceral attacks. Both are effective, it just depends on what makes you feel the most comfortable.

The game gets harder once you beat the boss in Byrgenwerth. I remember feeling the exact same way as you until I beat that boss.

Really? Rom was a cnut but the Reborn One was incredibly easy. I've not been on for a few days but last thing I did was unlock the shortcut in Mensis Nightmare.

Generally the bosses have been a piece of piss in this (Gazza and Rom asid). Although I am aware a lot of people struggled with Blood Starved Beast and Ameila.

I have a quite simplistic play style and use R2 a lot. It works pretty well for me. I mainly use the quick slash, R1, and the charge attack, hold R2. I almost exclusively use the long version of my weapons as I'm not great with guns and I like the reach.

I think it's a good idea to learn how to do the visceral attacks, though, which is shoot before they hit and then R1 while they're stunned.

Strggling with the boss at the end of Cainhurst castle at the moment

Servers appear to be down as well

Yeah, he's tough. I'm still to get him down to half his health. Also struggling with Ebrietas, so I'm grinding a bit and moving through Nightmare Mensis. Perhaps we can help each other out with Logarius if neither of us beat him by tomorrow? I'm level 73, I think.

That's how I felt after I beat Rom. Yahar'gul (unseen village) and nightmare frontier are in my opinion the hardest areas in the game (excluding chalice dungeons).

As for boss fights, I'm pretty sure people have different experiences with them. Some people might find a certain boss difficult while others might find them ridiculously easy. I've read a lot of people saying Rom was one of the easier bosses to take down while others disagree. It's subjective I guess.

I found Rom very hard as well, then I was away Saturday night and most if Sunday, came back and beat him first go

That break helped I think

I get its subjective, but it seems a lot of people agree the bosses are a lot easier. Maybe I'm being more critical because I played Souls, but there felt like there was learning curve and difficulty increase with the bosses on that game, whereas on Bloodborne you can beat most bosses by simply being aggresive.

Yeah I left there.

Well go back. The normal enemies will be a lot more difficult than before and even more so if you have 15+ insight. Also the red ones will keep respawnin, but I think that stops if you kill the women ringing the bells.

I ran through most of that part tbh.

I've never played Souls before so I'm not familiar with their difficulty :p (I really would like to play them some time in the future). I do get your point though.

Have you tried chalice dungeons yet? I think you'll like them because the bosses in some of the lower depth dungeons are much harder than the bosses you face in the game. I'm sitting at level 120 with 50 in vitality and 35 in endurance and I'm having a rough time with some of the bosses there.

I hear they get very hard. I've done the first one but I was reading the subreddit about them and I feel like I'm missing something.

They'll most likely be something I focus on when I finish the story.

Very productive day off work for me today

Cainhurst Castle and Nightmare Frontier are in the bag.

Think I have done every optional possible thing up to now too. Made a start to the unseen village. Do those bell ladies respawn?

They didn't in nightmare frontier so I am hoping this will be the same

Where is Cainhurst? I can't remember if I've been and I want to do all the optional areas before I finish the story.

It's kind of complicated. You need to find a key at Iosefka's clinic accessed through the Forbidden Woods shortcut. Then go to the Witch Abode lamp, backtrack and find an obelisk. A horse carriage will arrive and take you there.

Close to 7 hours later, I've beaten the Cleric Beast. I'm never making it through this game, but at least I'll get to see something new now

Down to four bosses left now, Ebrietas, Logarius, Gehrman and the Moon Presence. Trying to do the first two before completing the game but they're causing me a lot of headache.

Anyway, some questions about the ending(s) and how to get them:

So I know there are three endings, one if you accept the Gehrman's offer and let him kill you, one if you refuse and kill him and a third one if you refuse and kill him after having consumed three Umbilical Chords.

I've not that. Is it possible to see all three endings in the same playthrough? Like, will I return to the Hunter's Dream and be able to take Gehrman on again if I let him kill me? Or will I have to see the other endings in other playthroughs? Thanks.

These late game bosses are far too easy. I've fought more difficult standard enemies. The host of the Nightmare offers no challenge at all.

It's actually a summons. But yes, I accidentally came across Iosefka's Clinic and the summons during a little ramble around the Forbidden Woods. He's btter off looking up a guide because it can be a pain if you don't know where to start.
