FYI @Balu my preferred pick was Beckenbauer in the same position Tigana played last game.
is that serious?Do you rate Beckenbauer as a better DM than Rijkaard/Desailly?
You called?ugghh I am getting all kinds of confused, anyone available to bounce a few ideas of ?
Thanks, PM coming.You called?
I'm also here if you want mate.ugghh I am getting all kinds of confused, anyone available to bounce a few ideas of ?
Really? If anything I would have played Schuster in that DM role in your side, Beckenbauer as box to box and Xavi as the CM. Rijkaard is the better pick for your team though.FYI @Balu my preferred pick was Beckenbauer in the same position Tigana played last game.
Haha, think I mentioned that in my match thread that I had planned Schuster as the holding midfielder depending on the midfield I was up against.Really? /edit: would have been odd anyway. Surely Beckenbauer in for Schulz as a straight swap would have made the most sense in your side?
Not as a DM out and out but the role I was giving in my team he would have been really interesting to try there. I initially actually wanted Bozsik or Redondo there, that was the reason I was laughing at myself after picking Rivelino though to be fair I was barely in my senses then but both Bozsik or Redondo went then, so you can understand what qualities I was looking for there, not just a defensive beast who will just break up play and giving to Xavi or Schuster, while that makes perfect sense, I wanted more, someone who can break up play just as nicely but also but another force to reckon with in attack. Anyway Rijkaard ticks the boxes as well.Do you rate Beckenbauer as a better DM than Rijkaard/Desailly?

Cheers, think everyone got nice upgrades.I was considering Redondo as well of course and Rijkaard if he wasn't blocked by Cruyff are the only one that I'd have after Beckenbauer. I think both would tick the boxes that you need.
I'd still always take Beckenbauer because he's for sure top 10 material and some may say even top 5 in terms of all round and his advanced sweeper position that he's best at is quite what DM is now nowadays, and having in mind the zone he usually covers I'd say that's his bread and butter(considering his ability), but let's keep that for the games
Rijkaard/CR7 is great pair to go with I was hoping we can get Facchetti and he won't get picked... But Nesta would also do.
Understandable, he's an unconventional wide player who's involvement in the game a lot of times cannot be observed easily, he's not the best dribbler, or an exceptional scorer or someone overly creative, but an all round player like him ends up influencing the game heavily. It's a great advantage having someone who will commit himself to defending and provide enough work rate and responsibility while at the same time being a dangerous attacking threat, specially his touch and go and then that rocket of a shot. As a keeper or a defender you have to constantly watch out for such players and it disrupts your concentration. Also he himself never knew which one was his strongest foot, adds loads of versatility to his game which again is valuable to have. Again, though, it's easy to understand why his greatness isn't 'apparent' as others. He's a great fit for a 442 that @Balu and @crappycraperson are playing, did the same in the Euro draft and loved having him there. The crux of it is balance.I'm possibly about to commit heresy here.
Don't get it with Nedved, never have.
Yeah, he's pretty much the perfect 442 wide midfielder and complements the side brilliantly. It was a no brainer and I'd happily play him till the end. He gives so much balance to the shiny individuals around him, while still offering individual quality himself. He's a great fit for a 442 that @Balu and @crappycraperson are playing, did the same in the Euro draft and loved having him there. I'm interested in seeing Ronaldo in a 442. Isn't as obvious as Nedved how he'll work in a proper wide formation. If anything he is overappriciated on this forumI had a feeling tho he's a bit under appreciated.
Where, for example? Haven't quite seen it myself. If anything he is overappriciated on this forum
Really? Considering his arguably best season was at Barca with Figo and Enrique on the wings, I'm not sure why you have any doubts about that. But yeah, let's leave it for the match thread.I'm interested in seeing Ronaldo in a 442. Isn't as obvious as Nedved how he'll work in a proper wide formation. For the match thread, I presume.

Which can be seen from both ways. I have also rarely seen him being a match winner even when against weaker defenders.I've never seen anyone question Nedved's capabilities in a match till now. He's always been seen as a solid performer.
