I think we should proceed with the picks till Physiocrat comes around. If he allows the replacement pick, the punishment will be the delay as others can pick ahead.

The norm has always been that if you positively feck up, you get a second chance if you react before the next guy comes along to pick. But you are the next guy - and you are here. You've no obligation to step aside.
The particular nature of this feck-up makes it natural to consider whether RT and Marty should be cut some slack - and they should be, for my money - but it would be farcical if any of this actually affected you negatively.

I believe he's saying that your situation is identical to his when he picked Gullit: Both the Gullit and Buffon picks are valid, since you're allowed to have two players who played with each other (one being a sub).
The rules about changing picks only apply to invalid picks (says so clearly in the OP). Since your pick was valid, you should be stuck with Buffon just as he was stuck with Gullit.
It's debatable for me, since Gullit isn't a goal keeper - and a versatile player who can work well in multiple roles at that. But the principle of the thing is clear enough: Technically you did precisely what he did with Gullit, and as such what applied to him should apply to you.
Let's see what the boss has to say, though.

No, the Buffon pick isn't blocked. He's still a valid pick; you just have to choose between him and Vieira now. The pick would have been invalid if you picked Buffon when you already had, say, Vieira and Stoichkov in your team, or if, after picking Vieira, you had Desailly as Vieira's teammate and then went for Buffon afterwards.
The fact that neither Vieira nor Buffon played with anyone else but each other in your team makes Buffon a valid pick.
Not only him, but Pirri as well. I thought that one of them would have gone earlier, but alas, both went quite late.

He really deserved to be a World Cup winner. There are few players I feel sorry for, because they missed out on a trophy. He tops the list, but I'm really happy to finally have him in one of my teams.
I'm both happy to see him picked and gutted to miss out on him - we came so close to picking him but opted for Eto'o instead as we felt we needed that additional pace up front (not an issue with you having Eusebio). Not that you need me to supply Seeler propaganda, but there's a match compilation of his vs Santos on Youtube that really shows how good his all-around game was, in addition to that great scoring record.

I could though have just allowed players who had played with each other in the squad in the reinforcements. The rules were clear and we need to stick by them.

Ashley Cole as a 12th round pick is insane - the man was a world class left back for years and blocks a few Arsenal and Chelsea players who are all anyway underrated on here. I was seriously contemplating him before going for Cabrini.
