Billy No Mates Draft

Wasn't that the Juve fans voting him their best ever foreign player for their 100 year celebration? I could be wrong, but that's what I remember. Still mighty impressive of course, ahead of for example Platini. He's truely loved by the Juventus fans.

Definately voted Juventus' greatest ever foreign player but a number of sites also claim him to be voted Serie A's best foreigner also.

Didn't someone play John as CB recently? Kinda remember he did not get a good response as his best position was deemed to be CF. Could be wrong though.

I had him all the way to the final at CB in an all time draft. He had a stormer throughout.

Heres a good link about him for anyone interested in reading more about him.

He really deserved to be a World Cup winner. There are few players I feel sorry for, because they missed out on a trophy. He tops the list, but I'm really happy to finally have him in one of my teams.
Ah. Was mulling over him earlier on.

Stobz used him in EAP's snake draft partnering him with Blanc, and no one thought that that was strong enough to deal with a front 3 of Donadoni, Eto'o, and del Piero.

I used him as a central defender alongside Quirarte, and that wasn't received well either.

It really irritates me when people think that Charles is just an above-average central defender when he really was world class there. They see his scoring record and assume that he's just a striker who can do a job at the back. I really, really hope that @Aldo can do him some justice and make the Caf appreciate him more as a central defender.
I think as maybe others that he's mainly a striker, not a CB and this is why most people would think that. From what I know he played as CB for Leeds and Wales, then was moved up top for Leeds and bought at Juve as striker and played as one in most of the games...

Some sources say that if Juve scored a goal they brought him back in defence to keep it 1-0. But some claim that if he started as a forward he played there and was there for the match.

It will be interesting during the games to see some more info about him.

BTW @Balu top choice for a 11th round pick!

Even though he started as a striker in most of the matches, in almost all of them, he played as a central defender when Juve took the lead. He was used as a central defender by Juve almost as often as he was used as a striker.

I will discuss more in the relevant thread(s), but I just wanted to let that out.

yeah I saw that in your game I think? But some sources have that usually when he started as a striker he stayed there. Anyway plenty of different views so let's save it for the games.

I'll be online for couple of hours but not more. Anyone to leave my pick/s before I go to bed if things stall?

Noone had picked after Gullit was picked and he couldn't change.

If a player pick is invalid (picking a player who has played with two or more of the other players already drafted) then the drafter can re-pick asap however the deadline operations will continue to be the same. e.g. If the drafter doesn't realise his pick is ineligible until coming back online after 6 hrs the picks made after his invalid one are legit; obviously, courtesy to point this out to the drafter asap is encouraged.

True, and personally i don't care if he changes. Just weird that mazhar wasn't allowed to.

In other words, the only invalid pick is one where you pick a player you can't use as a sub. Valid picks can't be retracted. So, the Buffon pick has to stand. Or so I read it - now. I missed the crucial part at first.

Same :wenger:

So it stands.

Gullit still offers tactical flexibility, something that's practically useless in a keeper. I'm OK if he changes.

True that. Would be harsh. But then again, fecking up is part of the game.

Not for me to comment on, really. If I were playing, I'd say let 'em pick again - but I'm a soft lad.

I'm OK with it as well. I think it's up for Physiocrat as he's running the draft.

Only problem for John Charles is the lack of video footage of him playing at CB, especially for Leeds. Arguably, he made his fame when he switched to CF and scored lots of goals

I can't begin to imagine how upset I'm going to be if all this playing nice results in these two stealing my pick.

To be fair I think the possibility of changing your pick when the others after you hasn't picked yet is logical. Just maybe to edit it so that you won't reveal any names.
