Television Better Call Saul | Includes Breaking Bad Spoilers

Yeah but they are stupid kids who werent really thinking and were trying to con an old lady. I didnt think that was too much of a problem with regards to what happened.

We know with regards to BB, Saul doesnt go "dark" and tbh he doesnt need to. Its all about the journey from how he changes his name, to getting enough money to open his own firm with tv ads. Plus Mike becoming a problem solver.

Of course Gus has to be introduced down the line but be more discreet given his dealings with Mike.

Indeed. Can easily be explained as the kids being utter morons and it obviously didn't really pay off in the end. What annoyed me more about that whole thing was that they conveniently found a car to hold on to immediately and that it went the exact same way. But that's just TV for you, I guess.

This show is fecking brilliant so far. I love the subtle nods and references to Breaking Bad, but it doesn't overdo it.

Anyone think it might go beyond Breaking Bad in the timeline? To when he went in hiding? Odenkirk mentioned it today apparently.

I think it will. I think the opening scene from Ep1 gives an indication. Either that, or that is just after BB but I think at least one episode (if not more) will be right after BB finale.

Yeah, but then again, they might have been switching from car to car. TBH, Im not too bothered about that because some of the stuff can be explained given they didnt show it fully and it didnt really go into the realms of stupidity of not making sense.

I don't know. I know there are and will be plenty of references to Breaking Bad, but they can't ignore the fact that some viewers won't have seen Breaking Bad. This is a prequel but it's also going to be a standalone show. Saul as a character had a pretty big arc from when we first meet him to where he ends up in the opening to Better Call Saul. How do you explain that in Better Caul Saul?

You hope for five seasons (and maybe a "one year later" or something). With good writing, it can be easily done. Im sure Gilligan has this all planned in terms of where he wanted to start and where he wants it to end up.

The whole reason Saul ends up working in a Cinnabon in Omaha is the trouble he got into over what a year or more in his dealings with Walt. We know they're not going to go through that whole story line again so how could they just explain it with "One Year Later". I just don't see how it could be done and make sense for anyone who hasn't watched Breaking Bad. You're watching a show and then all of a sudden there is a "One year later" season/episode, with no explanation of why he is now working in a Cinnabon, or how are they going to explain that?

I'm going to keep watching it but I'm not really a fan at all. It all seems a bit aimless (but oddly well-polished at the same time).
Yeah I sort of agree. I enjoy it because it's really well shot and acted, and it has the right level of tension and comedic elements (just like BB), but it definitely feels a bit aimless in comparison, like there's no real end game, maybe because we already know what eventually happens. I also think there's just no way Odenkirk will be able to carry a show as well as Cranston did.

Still, it's very good, just not living up to the hype machine I'm (expectedly) seeing thus far.

I am enjoying it so far. Did anyone else think parts of episode 3 were a bit weak? Everything just fell together to easy to move the story along, the teddy bear thing and Mike suddenly solving everything seemed kind of rushed. Episode 1 and 2 were great though.

Already better than the 1st season of Breaking Bad? Are some of you on meth?

By this point in BB Walt had just killed Krazy 8. Possibly one of the best scenes in the whole series. Check yourselves before you wet yourselves lads.

Decent but unexceptional ep this week. The prologue flashback of "two old men in wigs" was pretty daft looking though.

I wonder how many people on this forum (and in general) are watching this before theyve even watched Breaking Bad?

It's better than Breaking Bad, it's entertaining for a start.

Breaking Bad, along with the Sopranos is one of the most over rated pieces of television ever made.

I had to work away from home a lot last last year so ended up watching no end of stuff of Netflix, I churned through two and half seasons of BB before I just couldn't watch it any more.

So so dull.

What entertains you, Two Broke Girls?

3 episodes are not better than one of the best TV shows made. Absurd claim.

Maybe instead of just "SPOILERS" in the thread title it should say "Breaking Bad spoilers" or something. I mean, it's fairly understandable that there's BB spoilers in here, but maybe someone wants to watch this without having watched BB yet (I know, people are weird).

Wow.

What entertains you, Two Broke Girls?

Yeah kind of.
Here is a list of things I liked watching.

The shield.
Justified
The wire.
The killing.
The walking dead is quite entertaining for the most part.
Banshee is fun.
Southland was fantastic.
Generation kill was a great piece of TV.

I just didn't find breaking bad entertaining, its biggest problem being that it required such a suspension of disbelief that I found it ludicrous and just a chore to watch.
Banshee has this problem in that the premise is just plain stupid, but it has tits and punching people in the face in it, so it gets a buy.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I can understand why people enjoy it, same way as I can understand why people like East Enders and emmerdale.

Well that just ruined the debate...

Yeah, saying TWD is entertaining then following it up with BB a chore to watch. haha.

I thought season two was shite so gave up on breaking bad for a while, but then went back to it and the rest of the show is brilliant. It just goes through a really boring spell at the start to mid season 2 I think. You can't say it's incredibly over rated if you never watched the whole thing, you missed all the best seasons if you only saw the first couple.

Definitely felt this when watching the last episode... I've liked it so far but I'm struggling to see what the aim of the show is, like is it just going to be 2 seasons of his life before breaking bad? That can only go so far.

Doubt it. Starts in 2001 and BB is set in 2008 onwards. Given themselves plenty of time for seasons.

As the OP is banned, could a mod put a thread mark in for each episode so we can tell when to stop reading to prevent spoilers?

How many seasons is BCS signed up for so far?

I heard the lead actor mention what they may do beyond season 1, so I assume they are signed up for a few?

I am with you matey. The Wire is also extremely boring and a low quality TV show. No idea why people like these OVERRATED Tv shows.

Does anyone else feel the whole opening theme tune/jingle sequence seems a little off? It also ends very abruptly for some reason, like it was done by an amateur editor who cut at the wrong time.

Obviously done on purpose. I like it.

Haven't they already said it goes right through Breaking Bad and further?

I think I see the crux of the problem.

I watched BB after all the hype and aside from a cluster of eps in S1 that I found a little dull it's easily the best thing I've ever watched.

I kind of agree with this. I wouldn't say I'm not a fan at all but I definitely don't think it's anywhere near as good as most on here do.

Thank feck, reading through this thread I thought I was watching a different show to the majority of posters. It's watchable, but so far it isn't making me desperate for the next episode to be released each week.

Guys, I only have watched 2 episodes. Does it get better after the first 2 episodes or as bad?
