I love it so much.
One thing though, you know the way every single time he's leaving the courts he is one sticker short, and every time Mike makes him go back and every time he throws a fit? I think that's a bit silly. Like why would he chance it every day like that, it's kind of just forcing Mike into it. Obviously Mike will play a more important role at some stage.

I thought the same thing both timesI was expecting it to be a bit lighter, a bit funnier, for some reason. But I thought it was excellent.
Same, I was expecting it to me closer to Two and a Half Men than Breaking Bad.
Nacho (Tuco's lieutenant) looks like a bald Zlatan with a less pointy nose.
Not sure if the negotiation scene between Tuco and Saul was meant to be funny, but I found it hilarious.

Second episode was very like Breaking Bad, actually, in that there was no real plot progression at all but plenty of long, tense (and funny) scenes that were well acted and filmed. Really liking it so far. Manages to retain what made Breaking Bad great whilst not feeling like a clone, and definitely taking a lighter approach to things.
Aside from giving us an insight in to what hardened him via the whole being held at gun point by Tuco thing, and the desert scene, and Tuco's lieutenant being set up as his door into 'the game'.
In a nice play on the phrase I think we're about to see 'Jimmy' break bad.
That's more so character progression though, not plot progression. it's not a complaint or anything, Breaking Bad was the same, a slow mover but so well acted and directed that you don't really care. In fact I was shocked when the episode ended because there were so few actual scenes that it felt really short.
Hm, possibly, but with it being development of the title character I'd credit that as overall plot progression as well.
Agree on the slow pace working for it, I've really enjoyed the first few episodes and they way they've taken the time to set things up.
I know it's a famous thing for breaking bad and this but I could really do with less arty montages.

Who changed the title to airs Sunday, most posters get the UK version of Netflix which airs on Tuesdays. Surely are Tuesdays should be in the title.

This, although I don't think it is "excellent" yet. It's intrigued me, but calling it excellent does excellent things a disservice in my opinion.

Saul have a real phobia of being traced by his cell phone hence why he continually smashed them after use and had the drawer filled with them. Perhaps this echos Chuck's fear of cell phones and electrical items

Loving it so far. It's been a while since I last found myself constantly wanting the next episode of a series. Tuesday cannot come quick enough!
I agree with Adebisi in that it's not what I expected and in spite of that I liked it a lot it, but if they're going to make it BB-lite with old characters littered throughout the show then it's never going to stand on its own two feet. It's interesting to seen a BB-esque plot from a fundamentally different perspective of course but I don't think that's the right way to go. I'm not even sure if they know what direction they want to take it in either because the tone of the two episodes were completely different. One had its own distinctive tone and the other was BB-lite.
I didn't know what I was expecting but I'm really enjoying it. Even if it is trying to be Breaking Bad style I'm perfectly happy with that as so far it's been very enjoyable. The story seems to be focusing on a lawyer who tries to make an honest living but needs to move to corruption in order to make a living.
At least this is how I've interpreted. I musty admit a smile did cross my face when I saw Mike and Tuco make an appearance. They need new characters too which they have done with the skaters, Tucos gang mate and Chuck so that doesn't concern me
I never got tired of them in BB but the courthouse montage and the breadstick breaking both went on a bit.
People used to say Breaking Bad was heavy, but I always felt that while the subject matter was serious, it never felt heavy or dark to me. It always felt like entertainment. Almost not entirely serious. It's hard to explain. Anyway, this feels very similar but because it's focussing on one of the characters that made BB feel more entertaining and humorous it seems to be swinging that way further. Which is what I expected. Don't know why you would expect a sitcom. This ain't E4 fodder.

Its set close enough at the moment for all the characters and places to be relevant. Obviously to make things interesting they'll need to bring in some characters we know nothing about, to help with suspense and all that.
The Tuco-Saul negotiation was amazing. Its scenes like that which I think will make this show. Similar to the epic moments we had with Heisenberg but with Saul's comedic twist. So far, they're doing just enough to keep it interesting, fun and intriguing. I'm rubbish at remembering what happened in stuff I watched a while ago, but I think BB was often like that too.
The opening title thing is also amazing.
